You can argue about whether or not it creates or costs money to have it, but I think Paxman summed up its most important benefits and the fact of the matter is that many people in Britain like having, and want to have a monarchy as it is an integral part of 'Britishness'.

@CmdrTobs To you I will say this... I care not for what you have to say though you make good points. I believe the number of people has risen on the dole to 2 and a half million. That's 2.5 million x £100 every two weeks. I wrote that because I don't know how the country can afford such expense and because I'm bored.

Don't confuse JSA with housing benefit, Family tax credits and so on that cost 10's of billions. JSA certainly saves money long term.
