I'm so flattered - I just realized Alliance of Miami is tagged in this video - this was such a wonderful experience being the best two guards from this year - and our mutual successes for many years after. Our members stayed friends, we have so many joyous photographs together from Midwest Regional, Pensacola, and WGI! Quite a tour schedule for two supposed Class A guards for the time!!!! Really brought a tear to my eye watching again.
While living in Jackson, I got to watch this once in its rehearsal form, and then was SO proud of them at championships. What a visually pleasing, athletic, work of ART.
Wow, this brought back a lot of memories. Thank you for posting Tommy. Can't imagine using that fast now. Your visions is truly remarkable. Thank you for letting me be a part of it. -W
It was truly an honor to have been a part of this glorious work of art. It was my first winter guard experience, and was one of the highlights of my life. Thanks for posting this!
Wow! The last time I saw a video of this performance was 1985 (24 years ago) - just after it was taped. I was a senior in high school. I asked my band director/guard instructor, "What do you call this?" He said, "Winter Guard". This video was my first exposure. I inhaled it. There was nothing like it in my small north Mississippi town. Tommy K.'s vision, interpretation, choreography, teaching skills and execution produced true pieces performance art. More importantly, however, they inspired.
This was such a special program, not only for its innovation in characterization at the time but also for the emotions of everyone who participated in it. Tommy K. was the master of blending various art forms in the color guard genre. I had the honor of being a part of the show on rifle and it helped shape my life. Im so glad you posted it.

You needn't feel like you're biased. I agree with your opinion! Sadly, it's almost as if WGI overlooked the Class A (now Open Class) guards when making those selections.
You are welcome, glad you enjoyed it. Some 22 years later I am still so very proud to have been a part of this show. I may be biased but I was shocked when it was not listed as "One of the 15 Shows that Changed WGI"
