I love Chris' playing and I'm glad he's still making music. For anyone that see's this, look up the band Where Angels Suffer or W.A.S. It was formed in the last year of so by Chris Holmes, Randy Piper, Stet Howland, Rich Lewis and Steve Unger of Metal Church. I think Randy may have left though. It's pretty strange if he's gone though cause most of the songs on the album they released are from Randy Pipers band called Animal. There is some live stuff of them playing on youtube.
Yes I did, a couple years behind Chris. I knew him through mutual musician friends, took lessons from his bassist (Don Peterson of "Slave" - really great bassist), and even loaned him my Cerwin Vega for a show with Chris once.
@TATTOOTRAINING seriously??? Hes very much alive and well...was at my house and played Vegas last night..granted he maybe sleeping like the dead now after that party! He still rocks like he did back in the day...one of the best imo
@VikingWitchy1 Chris is a REALLY great blues player, and plays a lot more like Richie Blackmore than any heavy metal guitarist. He really needs to do a solo album with all these influences in them - I hope he does someday.
I met him i'n Chicago , at an after party when he came back to wasp. Seemed cool, he told me' he had been living i'n Wyoming on a ranch for five years. I gave him a cd of my band to check out with my number about three weeks later I get a phone call from a intoxicated Chris Holmes tryn to convince the chick he's a rock star, unbelievable..cd is probably i'n the circular file but glad I could help you get laid man , ha...
Chris is the coolest guy - I met him back in high school. He was always quiet and serious, and so talented. Don't remember him for that stupid pool video please - he's so much more than that.
See him in a club if you want to see how a REAL GUITAR HERO plays.
@iliketherangersalot2 Yep, LCHS a couple years after Chris but still met him a couple times. My guitarist friend took a lot of lessons from him (and Randy too but I never met him unfortunately).
@tacomadc FUCK YEAH!! He played Vegas last night we have mutual friends actually came around for a visit to our house :) and we thoroughly enjoyed not only him but the show...and he is really a down to earth laid back guy...knows his shit...hes got a twit for a guitar tech tho a real douchebag
Laidback, and then some people surprised him in the middle of lightening a sigg. Showing sportsmanship by giving the fans a good time.
Fuckin awsome guitarist. Seen Blackie and W.A.S.P two times the last two years. Kicks massive ass, and it would have been sick to have Chris back for a gig or two:)
I knew Chris in High School - he was very quiet but a cool guy. Great talent - someday he will be recognized as every bit as good as Eddie and Randy - they knew it too believe me.
@sunsetandbabylon It IS Chris Holmes. If you check his myspace for example you will see that the guys in those pics and the guy in this vid is the same person. He looks like a mess, yeah, but it really IS Chris Holmes formerly of WASP. :)
@bobby1974 they are very different.... I agree that Blackie doesn't spend enough time for fans (or better say - doesn't spend it at all), but why we should blaim him for that ? It is very offensive for us, but first of all we love him for his amazing songs. WASP is Blackie Lawless, and nobody else. Other musicians ever played in WASP are good talented guitar players, and nothing more. You know, its always better to have a dream, then may the dream come true and get disappointed.
@krabik89 I agree Blackie is a talented musician and songwriter no doubt about it. It is well known he doesn't respect his fans enough to sign autographs and take pictures. WASP fans has given him a lifestyle in rock n roll over the last 30 years most other bands would kill for.He needs to show fans respect without us he would never be the rock star legend that he is today.
@bobby1974 First of all he is writting songs for himself. To make some money, to have money to write more songs. I think that about 80-90% of "fans" never bought his albums ever, the Internet today cuts a lot of musician's earnings. He is genius, legend, but not so popular as KISS for example. Totally uderrated. Im never gona have his autograph, but Im not sad about that. I grew up on his songs. Thats all I need. BTW, 22 May Saint-Petersburg, going to see The King of Mercy =) 3rd time in my life
@sunsetandbabylon It looks like him. He completely fell off the bandwagon from alcohol and drugs. Watch "The Decline of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years" its on youtube. Chris was a giant mess.
