when I visited the zoo in Australia i remember the people there told me that the leaves that the koalas eat provides them with so little energy that they would get tired just from chewing their food lol.

Koala's have coarse hair on their bum like velcro to keep them from sliding when they put their bum against a tree. Just an awesome fact i thought i would share with everyone (and yes i did learn that on Steve Erwin's daughters show lmao)

They eat gum tree leaves which have eucalyptus oil in them, it keeps the koalas in a constant state of inebriation. So no, they aren't ever very active. They can run when they need to though.

While I was at Australia Zoo recently I watched a little baby one run all around the enclosure during feeding time, it was so cute!

I had no idea they were so fast on the ground, I'd be scared if it was chasing me or something. @_@ They have sharp claws. Adorable though! Thanks for posting.

Thats not rare i work at a wild life park & they sleep up to 18/20hrs & are active for 4hrs. And ppl think there drunk due to the gum leaves but thats not true
