@GravitasGeko once your router is set up you are going to have to log into your router, the IP address should be on the hardware it self, after login in, you will have the options to set a network name and password. if you get stuck let me know!

i just got a belkin g wireless router,ok now the thing is my internet connection doesn't have a modem the RJ45 cable directly runs into the LAN of my CPU, so here's my ques

1)can i make a wireless connection without a modem?if yes,how?if no, what's the best modem to use?

@nautesubs The best type of modems is the one that will fit your needs, are you a regular user, or will you be streaming video/music and playing games online?

2) yes you can use both the wired and wireless at the same time, that's what it's built for!

When I connect mine and all 4 green lights are on in the router- Wired, Router, Modem, Internet, then I start the installation with the CD, it tells me it cannot find a connection to the router even though the "Wired" light is on in the router.

@AdemSemir I am no longer using this router but the range was good but I live in an apt, I don't know how it would work in a house setting. I bottom of it is flat so no wall mounting that I could see, but hey I'm sure you could think of something, nothing is impossible!

@erikbaby100 yes, you can use any Ethernet cables the color does not matter, belkin just wanted to do a "paint by number" kinda thing for their router. It helps out people who are not familiar with setting up a router to a modem.

I get to the point of plugging both back in and my Router just doesn't pick anything up, checked it's working and stuff but maybe once every 20 times i plug and unplug it picks up just the 'modem' light and not the connected to the computer light, It's getting stupidly annoying now, i think it's just the modem refusing to connect to the internet via the router, -.-

hey my belkin router has the wired, router, and security light on but the modem, internet, and wireless isnt on. i did the setup disc and it put me in internet explorer for the 198.168.2.1 link but i have firefox and wen i type in the link it says that the connection was reset and i cant go into it. can anyone help me out?

I have the Belkin surf wireless router model F7D2301 which I bougth at Best Buy. It was the only economical router I could find. It doesnt have an antenna so I'm assuming it has it inside. Its connected to my Westell wirespeed DSL modem which Verizon provided. The internet is via ethernet. When someone uses the cordless phone the internet disconnects on the laptops. What do I do to stop this?

This is known problem with all the wireless routers, because both ur router and ur cordless phone works on the same frequency 2.4ghz... 1. u can try moving the phone away from the router or the router away from the phone at-least like 10 or 20 feet. 2. you can try setting ur router's channel on 11 and the phone's channel on 6. But i prefer the first one because that really helps.
