  • ha, thumbs up if you're watching this in 2024 one last time before you get in the time machine to go save John Connor! (kidding)

  • She was huge in the 80s. Used to meet girls by letting them sing Pat Benetar in my band. I think the song Sex as a Weapon killed her career. She still has lots of fans, but nothing approaching the commercial success of We Belong.

  • Back in the day when REAL rock stars SANG...not lip-synced...

REAL songs that were PLAYED by PERFOMERS..not some

taped "music'....by REAL musicians. Them days are gone:)

I miss the late 70's and early 80's:)

  • She's doin some jazzy blues stuff now, and she sounds better than she ever has.

  • @beauryker - The Blues album was released around 1990. Current new music as this year.

  • Wow I would love to wake up back there again

  • 1981 - 82 was all about Pat Benatar back in the day, and we drank and made merry. It was one of the soundtracks to my younger days living in Honolulu. Great memories!

  • Why is there an ad for a woman beater on a Pat Benatar video?

  • love her

  • Ms. Benetar knows how to rock! This is back when MTV still played rock videos and music didn't suck. Since the early 90's rock music has been a joke. If it ain't real rock its crap!

  • but thumbs up to this song just a few weeks ago i could listen to this with out a god dam commercial yt and vevo can eat me cuz i will deleeeeet my acct zippcast is next no dam commercials march 7 th i am outa here

  • this vevo shit blows

  • Everytime I hear another song, I say "This One Is The Best"! I can never decide when it comes to Pat Benatar, She is the only artist I have over 50 of her songs on my Ipod she takes up the most space besides Def Leppard. LOL

  • Is america great or what!God bless those whom shed blood for our freedom!God bless you men and women.

  • Martina McBride and Pat Benatar, CMT,S CROSSRRODES A few years ago! NEED TO watch. Their voices together r great! I wasthere in the eighties.

  • For being a little woman her voice packs a huge punch. What a range. No one today can touch her.

  • I think it's cool that Pat and Neil are up on stage jammin' together!!! Such an awesome song like all her songs!

  • LOVE PAT FROM THE GET GO

  • GREAT SONG

  • ANOTHER HIGHWAY SONG LATE AT NIGHT 75MPH

  • what a honey, talent, smart... I wonder if she cooks

  • @ianyellowfeather yes she does! I think I have a video uploaded of her on Emeril Live, lol!

  • Pat Benatar broke down a lot of walls and paved the way for female R&R singers. she could sing rock, love songs, and blues. Some people didn't like the way her direction of music went. But she and Neil told the record label "tough shit " and did it their way. I respected her for her guts.If it wasn't for her,Madonna and all the artists to Lady Ga Ga wouldn't be shit. None of them had a 3 octave range. She is touring with REO Speedwagon now and still looks and sounds HOT !

  • does she have a little Down syndrome? Like maybe she has 46 and a half chromosomes?

  • @buddawiggi What a terrible thing to say! I'll stop there because one of my New Years Resolutions is not to verbally slaughter stupid people on YT via comments.

  • Maestra!

  • One of the greatest female voices in R&R.. Saw her perform live on Sept 6th 1980.. amazing !!

Didn't care for the direction she took her music later in her career but at least she had the guts to make the albums SHE WANTED TO MAKE.

  • Wow what year was this? Nice tight jump suit!

  • I love Pat and this song is my favorite. I wish I had seen her in the '80's!!

  • This was when music was just that, not it is all done by computers, except for a select few nobody can perform like this anymore..and those that do are the 80's rockers still filling the concerts..

  • her voice is just epic!!

  • Is this really her singing live here? She sounds so fantastic it's hard to believe.

  • @xxsolidsnake937xx - No, this isn't live, but it is her voice!

  • Have seen her twice. Both performances failed to touch me emotionally. However, sometimes the merit of an artist can be lost on the layman.

  • I'm 48 and I still love this video...

  • Neil is still hot too! They have two gorgeous daughters! FB Littlest Hans to see her youngest; looks like her mama; Haley has her eyes too. Lovely family. Neil and Pat are still together how amazing and beautiful!

  • Some of the best pipes ever!

  • Not in the R&R hall of fame?? Unbelievable! Her collective body of work is just incredible. Rock on Pat!

  • I miss MTV, when the actually played videos not the crap they have now.

  • First time hearing this and already LOVE it!

  • What an awesome singer, I want to live back then again lol

  • One of the best vocal and guitar songs ever! The fact that she's fine as hell is great, too!

  • I like!!!!

  • Bella!

  • This Bitch is Bad!!!!....

  • Not Live

  • @DARRINCONNOR1 - No, this isn't live, but it was when she recorded it! Her voice and only her voice. No back up singers or production bullshit!

  • Incredible and classic.

  • 2011 and I’m still hitting replay on this song! I LOVE PAT BENETAR! DAMN she can sing her booty off! Her strength, beauty, and kick ass attitude has been such a huge inspiration to me being a female singer! She has paved the way for female rock singer! I am in a pop/punk band called HEY YOU. If any of you PB fans would like to give it a try, we just put up a new video, and would love it if you would let us know what you think.... = )

Search: hey you band taking over

  • her and annie wilson should sing a duet the two white girls with oustanding voices

  • I have seen her live many times, and she is the only singer I have seen that hits it note for note every time, every song. Pat is as great live as she is on her records.

  • @mrusa4440 thats because she actually paid attention to her classical training.

  • 19 dislikes? hey get the shit out of your ears!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

  • i saw her in a concert yrs ago i was in front of the stage im a dude and i was screaming like a bitch for her lmao she is so freking hot!!!!!!! and she can sing her ass off. thank you for the upload

  • All I can say is how is madonna who would have no venue were it not for Pat and others that paved the way for female singers gets in .. yet the Rock N Roll Hall of fame disses Pat every year .. it kills me

  • effen ads before ass kicking tunes bites big buffalo balls

  • Benatar and Ann Wilson are the two greatest female rock vocalist of all time. Take note ladies. Learn to sing like these two greats. And stop shoving your fake tits and lip synching in our faces! Rock on Pat!

  • @innamorata40 Yeah, both are amazing. Joan Jett is my favorite though.

  • @innamorata40 I agree. But you do no this was filmed on a soundstage. This is the studio recording of this song. Can any1 remember the last time you heard this great song on the radio??? Point being....radio sux, really bad,but i bet you could turn on your radio rite now and hear "Black Dog" for the hundred millionth time.

  • @DARRINCONNOR1 Yes...very aware of this being on a soundstage. This was video taped in the San Fernando Valley (So, Cal). Back in '81. Never the less, she has one hell of a voice. I do hear this on Classic rock......KLOS 95.5 (Los Angeles)

  • @DARRINCONNOR1

Lol whats wrong with black dog?? Thats a fantastic song.

  • @xxsolidsnake937xx Yeah I no its a great song, just way overplayed.I guess i should look at it subjectively, that maybe sum 10 year old kid is hearing this song for the 1st time in his life.Or Aerosmiths "Dream On" OMG I cant listen to songs like that anymore.Especially a aband like Aerosmith where they have 100s of awesome songs you will probably never hear on the radio. "Sick As A dog" "Nobodys Fault" I live in Detroit and you will never ever hear these songs being played.

  • @innamorata40

YES, THANK YOU!!! God I hate watching a pat benetar video, and having a pop up come up under the video for rhianna. The quality of music nowdays pisses me off so much. Just last night at the New years eve show, the music acts were justin bieber, lady gaga, cee lo green, drake, and pit bull. I mean what the hell is that crap.

  • @innamorata40 Don't forget Debbie Harry and Joan Jett...

  • @RecklessBloodyWays - I didn't forget them......that's why they were not included. Jett and Harry are good in their own rights. But do not have the range, pitch, tone and power and Pat and Ann.

  • @innamorata40 I stand corrected.

  • @innamorata40 Absolutely Right!!

  • @innamorata40 Agree 100%. And Im not even sure whio I would put #3.

  • @innamorata40 Amen!! My same sentiments were posted under a heart video awhile back. Todays no talent fakes owe it all to Benetar and Ann & Nancy Wlison. Pure energy.... ... and awesome voices!!!!

  • cant stop watchin this video so hot i love women that can sing are sexy as hell

  • and so beautiful...

  • m too drunk, can;t talk... she is just fabulous ! what else could i say...

  • #2

No, she does not have (or will ever have) the qualities of Pat but she is amazing. By far, Pat is the greatest female singer of our lives. Others can come in and they will always have their strengths and weaknesses. Nobody will ever be like Pat!!!

  • I have Takes 1-4 of the rehearsal video (testing out camera's etc) on my channel. Come to my channel (Pat Benatar Channel) I have all the rehearsal vids in a Playlist; also check out her singing this on Arsenio Hall 1993; and have the complete US Festival set. I have over 90 uploads; lots of rare footage. If you're a Pat fan check out my channel!~

  • Neil Giraldo(Pats husband) has never gotten recognition for being the great guitarist he is.

  • Here's a thought for the people at VEVO: Those of us that come here to listen to Pat, don't give a rats-petunia for what Selena Gomez or Justin Beiber are doing, releasing or allegedly singing. So stop advertising them here. Just a suggestion.

  • Pat dont have "fillers songs" . E-V-E-R-Y music from her is a precious gem.

  • I agree dude But its all the freaks that came after Madonna. Shes in the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame for a reason!

  • TURN IT UP AND LOUD

  • theres nothing like a beautiful women that can sing so hot

  • Wow!!! What an amazing..... powerful voice voice..... can never grow tired of this excellent video. Easily one of the most talented female singers in our time... along with Ann Wilson Of Heart. Never mind the fact that she was and still is quite the looker in that tiny frame! What a body!! Neil is a lucky man as well as great lead guitar player!!!

  • @wvufreak56 - Yes.......Pat and Ann are the best! Two talented women who actually know to sing!

  • She was already owned by Evil...

Didnt she SING>>>> Hell is for Children???

    OWNED!

  • @Tbone500011 You're a fuckin moron!

  • @Tbone500011 _Yes, you are a moran.....Read the lyrics to "Hell is for Children" The song is about child abuse and the pain and suffering children endur everyday at the hands of evil people. The title can be mis leading, however, it means. It is hell for children because of the pain and hell they go thru. Open yours eyes and shut your mouth.

  • @Tbone500011 Pat Benatar and bassist Roger Capps both wrote Hell Is For Children after reading a newspaper article on Child Abuse in America titled "Hell Is For Children".

  • Pat Banatar Is the same FAMOUS EVIL you lend itself for EVIL.

    Did she not fool you??

Love isnt fame or being good in songS!!!!

Lady GAGA killed her 19yo girlfriend for fame, she is EVIL.

And This whore wanted just the same back then!

  • @Tbone500011 Take your meds dude. Pat only toured during the summer when her kids were school age and they went with her. During school she and her husband of 31 years both raised their children. She never did drugs, partied, and is very well grounded; to this day. She is a very nice in person; sweet as can be.

  • @ivegottaheadache Completely spot on. Clearly her voice has changed over... THIRTY daym years on tour. But she still tours. Still sounds great (just cant hit the super hi notes on Hell is for Children) and LOVES her fans. I saw her 2x last summer. LOVED it.

  • I usually hate lip-sync, but Pat and Neal nailed this one. I immediately recognized it as lip-sync, but it's sooooooooooo well done, that I forget it really isn't live.

Pat and Neal are totally 100% underrated rockers.

  • @lancetop Go to my channel and I have her1982 US Festival complete set in 8 parts, (due to time restrictions); you'll see the part of her singing this song. Look through my uploads and watch the 1993 Arsenio Hall upload where she sings this song and at the end goes way way high on the note; unlike the studio version!

  • I will always say that there are three great voices of power and range among the women of rock and roll. Ann Wilson of Heart, Annie Lennox of Eurythmics and Pat Benetar. I had the privilege of seeing her on her second album tour and she was GREAT! I have little doubt that there are no women out there in rock today to match these three ladies. Pat is an all time great and deserves induction in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! No Question!

  • I had the privilege of seeing (and more importantly, hearing) Pat perform in the early or mid-80s, in the exact outfit she's wearing in this vid, and even though she didn't engage with the audience much, it was still an incredible performance because of her voice and Neil's guitar playing. She's one of the true great rock chicks of all time.

  • @7trueblue7 and a lot of Vocal Over Dubbs... cheating anyone???

  • @ENEMENCIO123VISION I really don't care whether it's live or not. It's a vid, and vids can be live or produced. Either way, Pat and Neil are still incredible.

  • Respond to this video... this is not a live performance... LOL you got to be kidding me...

  • I like Promises in the Dark 2 thumbs up.

  • Still not in the rockanroll hall of fame, WTF.

  • @aerowayne4 But Madonna is and WTF Lou Reed is what a shame.

  • @sirbuzzy The rockanroll hall of fame has no 'HEART'.

  • I don't like Pat's videos. Her music does not need visuals. Maybe that is why many of my favourite songs by her never had a video I saw. This is one of my favourite songs by Pat (Rated X, All Fired Up, Hell is For Children as well). She had a look, but her videos took something away from her music. I think she is just one of us that don't feel comfortable in front of a camera.

  • @Basileus84 ETA, other than Love is a Battlefield, Lipstick Lies and We Belong, Pat was never really a "video star" and even in those videos, she just didn't seem comfortable. For me, just putting on her album, cranking it up, and just listening is nirvana

  • @Basileus84 I agree that she doesn't have the greatest stage presence in the world (I've seen her live 3 times ... I think she's maybe kind of shy? ... not sure), but damn, she can belt out the songs, right? I especially like Promises in the Dark and Hell is for Children. And Neil is incredible to watch on the guitar!

  • hit LIKE if you know that this is an actual LIVE recording !

  • THIS LADY IS ONE OF THE FIRST OF HER KIND, A ROCK N ROLL ORIGINAL QUEEN.THERES NO ONE LIKE HER AND NEVER WILL BE.KEEP ON A ROCKIN PAT LOVE YA FOREVER.

  • The 80s was so sweet no 9-11 no meth heads no posers just true people wanting to have a good time smoke a joint drop some acid and fnn party

  • This lady rocks in concert

  • Let the people vote. These players need to be in the HOF!! tHEY ARE TIGHT AND ROCK WITH CLASSICS!

  • Meatloaf? Not even close, and an insult to Pat Benetar!

  • I love this song. It sounds like something Meatloaf would sing.

  • 80'S ROCK STANDS ALONE. WE WILL NEVER HAVE MUSIC LIKE THAT AGAIN.

  • They are an excellent band and she is one of the greatest vocalists ever. 1:49 Great ass. And once again 17 people suck.

  • Both Pat and Neil are GREAT!! One of the great rock voices of all time, IMO...=)

  • Saw her at Wild Adventures a few years back with my lady and she still sounds incredible and looks just as amazing

  • Great rock for sure, some of my favorite stuff!!

  • TREMENDOUS. She rarely did a bad song back then. just pure class!

  • Your right about that... i remember when MTV was about music, and oddly enough, videos..... what they have on there now is aptly referred to as vomit

  • Talent and no 'gimmicks' like some of the "entertainers" of today. No auto-tune here!

  • I love her.......awesome!!

  • I cant get over how cool that build up right before the solo is.

  • Not sure about the teen mom/jersey shore crap, I've heard of it, never seen it and I'm sure it blows.... but PB has a voice that can't be matched.

  • It's a great song sung with her great voice. She also has a fantastic look with a nice outfit, very decent hairstyle, and nice figure.

  • I didnt know Dana Carvey was their drummer .Awesome.

  • @tednugentlives oh my god...funny!!!!

  • When Madonna took the wheel, things started going down hill. Now we have freaks like Lady Gaga who are barely human. Pat Benatar and Heart set the standard for chicks who know how to rock.

  • @lilbaca a men!! I like you whoever u are!! :)

  • @lilbaca Could'nt agree more...and add Vixen to your list

  • @lilbaca I know Ann and Nancy Wilson rocked with the Canadian Gals in the late 70's when they had a record deal in Canada, they also recorded alot of their music. So they are not to be forgotten, Holly Woods (lead singer for Toronto) an American gal, Sharon Alton from Toronto wrote What about Love. Lisa Dabello - they record Black on Black, Darby Mills lead singer of Headpins, Allanah Myles and Sass Jordan. Those girls rocked !!

  • I am the number 1 Pat fan. I saw her from 1979 and followed her. She is my GODDESS!!!!!! NOBODY is better. I like Modonna but not for her voice. She is amazing in recreating herself. I hated GAGA for a long time but after watching her interview on Stern I realized she is fragile and humble. Since then I watched and studied her.

  • Patty B. was the BOMB back in the day! I saw her live plenty of times!!

  • @jlc7300 Saw her in July. She is still hot and sounds great!

  • They don't make music like this anymore. Pat and Neil were the best and set the bar real high! I can't wait to see Pat Benatar in concert this weekend at the Mountain Winery...

  • LOL! While this song was sung Pat & Neil were battling it out. This is from the Precious Time Tour and in her book she said her band/crew called it Hell Is For Us Tour; Pat said it was the first time she trashed a hotel room, always throwing shit, both of them fighting,he broke up w/her during that tour...WHAT FUN!! Now married for 31 years: TRUE LOVE!

  • @ivegottaheadache Wow, I didn't know that was going on in their marriage. I'm glad it has lasted, though. Thanx 4 your post!

  • All Pat Benatar fans my channel is devoted to Pat Benatar; so check it out and sub. Have this song live from the US Festival 1982 (full set); also from Arsenio Hall Show 1993 where the end of the song she changes and goes up about 4 or 5 ranges; only time I've seen her do that!

  • @ivegottaheadache Just checked out the Arsenio Hall Show performance. You're right, up 4 or 5 ranges ... incredible! Thanx for sharing that!

  • She looks like she could be a lawyer or some other professional. Nice hair. Perfect age for a woman. Not a kid anymore but youthful skin, not a line or wrinkle in her face.

  • Hadn't seen this vid in a long time. Singing her ass off and rocking one of coolest jumpsuits from that era that I've ever seen. Great post!

  • You current crop of so-called rocker chicks, take notice. THIS is how it should be done.

  • A fan since my youth and will die a huuuuuge fan. The voice, the style, the sheer talent.....and to have a woman rocker with the power and range - I still lose my voice rocking around the house even trying to get near her ranges! lol I am simply a forever fan ♥

  • Pat is simply awesome....

  • she is so fine and talented great song thanks for the vid

  • Ridiculously talented, and twice as fierce.

  • Been following Pat right from the start but never got any visual input, so thanks for sending these up

  • everybody here knows that pat has a 5 octave voice!!!! that is awesome! not too many out there!!!and her husband gil aka spyder is the best lead guitar in the biz back then!put it this way most underrated guitatist. in my book the best!!!!!!!!!!

  • Pat Benatar is one of the greatest Female rockers of the early 1980's!!! She knew what issues were around at that time & she belted them out in that beautiful raspy voice of hers & I will love her forever!!!

  • Rock Music ICON! Her vocal passion is inspirational and moving. She is a Legend. The world of music is wealthy for her participation. Spyder is also an incredible guitar player. His solos are rippers and blues soaked.

  • neil was playing in the rick derringer band at I think 15 years old . he knew he had the chops. Then this hot , awesome, amazing singing godess comes. and they are awesome!

  • Love her outfits! She was so Outrageous!

  • Her husband was a hot man too...

  • i missed You!:op 2011

  • they used to play this all the time on mtv. now all they show is teen mom/jersey shore vomit. At least i got to enjoy mtv when it had things worth watching.

  • @totallyasimpsonjunki PAT BENATAR WAS THE FIRST FEMALE TO HAVE A VIDEO ON MTV.. SHE ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I WOULD LUV TO SEE HER INCONCERT STILL.. IM STILL AN 80'S BABY. STILL LISTEN TO 80'S GO TO ROCK CONCERTS............

  • @davs1wife The second video actually. Still not in the RRHoF. Makes me sick.

  • @chuckfleener -don't get me started on who is and who isn't in the Hall of Fame. It's the Hall of Shame. Same on Jann. Shame!!!!!!

  • @chuckfleener Actually, the RRHOF in and of itself makes me sick.

  • @totallyasimpsonjunki hell yeah

  • @totallyasimpsonjunki Vomit is the new fad. may if Pat could Vomit , she could have a Hit Series TV Show Too.

  • @totallyasimpsonjunki MTV, in Portugal, is reality-show free. The viewers must demand a full-music policy out of music networks if they want to stop watching reality tv from being exhibitited in music channels. Complaining on a youtube channel doesn't make any change. If you are serious about your passion for music, take action for it!

  • @Brunnhilde1000 i know complaining doesn't change anything, i was just hoping that someone younger than me would at least be aware that mtv was a great "music" channel at one time, and them playing songs like this had alot to do with it. As for mtv-portugal's full-music policy, i would love to see that here in the states, but i won't be expecting it here any time soon.

  • All I can say is.....WOOOOW! She rocks, can sing her ass offf. One of the greatest singers ever to grace the stage!

  • MY bff passed unexpectedly a few months ago and Patty B was always our fav! Soooo bummed........Sick to my stomach. Rock on Pat!!!!
