Some good tips on awareness. I am a self defense instructor and I wanted to point out a few things.
Resistance: When you fight back I recommend two moves. Gouging the eyes and crushing the trachea. Both of these tactics dont require lots of strength and are very effective.
Get a good self defense spray. Pepper Sprays are legal in all 50 states. I like the Sabre Brand with CS Military Tear Gas and Red Pepper plus UV marking dye. Sabre is used by thousands of police. Put it on your keys.
