  • @physh lion u need shup the hell

Up!!!all wyclef iz tryna iz help haiti bcuz they are struggling with their live nd needs help its one of the poorest nd wyclef iz tryna make it a wealthy country its not like u donating!!!!looser

  • I don't understand why people are so down on Wyclef. He's been a proud Haitian-American all his life, he's written about Haiti in his songs, and created his own Charity to help Haiti (Yele) long before the Earthquake. Now, since people have started taking offense at how Yele spends it's money, He's asking people to donate to the American Red Cross instead, because HAITI needs help. Haiti can be a democratic, prosperous nation, if only people take an interest today.

  • Excuse me Mr. Wyclef. What are YOU doing for the other countries hit by earthquake? Where is the outcry for help for them. Fuck Haiti!

  • r u need to wake up boy... talkin lot a shit below here... how de same ppl gun be responsibly an e happen from god.... god jus give hati a wake up call.... but remember a human dey be... an if Wyclef dem a tek de ppl dem money or doin it to be known god gun deal wid dem to..... dnt refuse to help because a dem fools

  • You people should know that the same people who are responsible for the haiti earthquake are also responsible for 9/11, MJs death, 2Pacs death, Princess Diana's death, making marijuana illegal, satanic subliminal messages in all mainstream music since the 70's, AIDS, swine flu and 2012...

    THE ILLUMINATI

  • ayayay111, thank you for speaking the truth....and you know this.

  • hey wyclef, i will tell you what i tell alot of haitians that i know in the u.s. bitchin about what countries and what people are doing and not doing for haitian people... return to your beloved homeland and help rebuild it. dont come back until your work is done. as always the ones that talk the most do the least... "your actions speak soo loud i cant hear what you are saying". you are nothing more than a sorry glory hound, using this tragedy to promote yourself

  • thank you

  • trator

  • I was going to donate until I read that Wyclef started the charity with ZERO of his own money. Now im reading in the NY times that not only has he not donated any of his own $, but he's using it as his personal piggy bank. AND NOW he's blaming the accusation on the white man (the all time great go to excuse). In any case, I've become disheartened and am going to have to pass.

  • Thank you!

  • ...it's an illuminati sabotage lie!! Believe what you want but, you shouldn't believe everything that the media throws at you. Hip hop is under attack....the peckerwood will sabotage anything good about these brothers. Pass if you will...the kemetic will survive regardless and we'll continue to take the worst the white nigger devil has to offer.

  • We are wondering why he left it all behind to come back here to do commercials, and tv shows...

  • WYCLEF YOU LYING SON OF A BITCHH.

Youre stealing money from your crooked fund and making whack ass CD's

I would beat the f out of you for lying and stealing from orphans and widows.

    Hell is hot

  • @lstn74 Don't believe everything u hear. You have no solid proof he stole anything. Grow up guy, wyclef doesn't even need the money like that..lol

  • U did an awesome performance on the telethon for Haitians on the 22nd of January.I will donate what I can for the the Haitian people.God bless U for all the work you've done for your country.

  • Everyone should contribute what they can -let us all partake in the rebuilding process.

  • @dlagrua wow how fuckin immature are you! grow the fuck up, this isnt some little problem that can be solved in an instant you asshole. This is a disaster and you joking about it makes me wanna knock you the fuck out. grow some balls and be respectful you fucking jerk

  • asshole!!!! you dont deserve to live!!

  • everything to do to help our brothers an sis in Haiti is welcome plz donate today is them tomorrow can be you or us . Haiti my heart is with you

even a dollar would do blankets whatever you can

  • ingridgott, there are already over 10,000 charity organisations active in Haiti - and they have been making the situation WORSE.

Haiti's biggest problem, aside from corruption, is over population. The birthrate is 3.8 and the population continues to explode even as unemployment remains at 80%. Those charities are literally feeding an unsustainable population boom.

Immediate assistance must be provided to survivors, of course. But no amount of blankets and tinned tuna will solve this mess.

  • i just donated 500 bucks, beat that

  • Comment removed

  • @allistar34 i think for the people in haiti it does matter why people donate...JUST DONATE OUT OF COMPETITION OR BECAUSE YOU WNAT TO HELP!!?!! JUST DO IT

  • @allistar34

jajajajaja, what kind of nonsense is that,??? right i am donating to compete. are you dumb?

for that mater i would of had donated all my money

  • @sps081208 prove it

  • Comment removed

  • Wyclef I love what you have accomplished. You represent the haitain people well. You got to clean up the fund raising org though.

  • lol this guy just spent $100,000 on a new recording studio

  • @anbukakashi114 so its a crime to spend money for a recording studio?...new to me

  • im just saying that it is stupid to spend that much on a recording studio and then the week after telling people to donate money

    notice anything wrong

  • but making music is his profession..he makes his money with music.and he build the recording studio before the earthquake . there is no way you can build a professional studio cheaper then 100k......as a haitian with that kind of popularity his job is to bring the message out to the world , in that position he can a lot more for his country .beside how do you wanna know if he already spend or not...he also started his own hatian charity called yele 3 years ago with his own money...

  • i donated yesterday :)))

  • Prove to us contributors that the money we gave Yele is actually going to the people of Haiti. Make the financial transactions visible!

  • Good comes from tragedy when people respond to tragedy with love. God wants us to love all the time, but being human, it sometimes takes tragedy to move us.

  • ThePennsylvanian- well said!!

  • merci clef ayiti jtm i love mi country kote lot artis ayitien kap viv la bas yo aussi ban chien nou pas ka fé tankou wyclef ayiti bezion nou se le moment pour di se ayitien ou yé

  • the Red Cross is getting all the donations generated at Starbucks.

  • i heard that the best place 2 donate 2 is red cross

  • Sorry....i am boycotting starbucks because they are israelli owned and we all know how israel murdered way more palestinians than the earthquake killed haitians.

  • @nataher123 The funds donated aren't going to Starbucks you fool! They are taking the donations on behalf of the American & Canadian Red Cross! Boycott them if you will but quit being a greddy selfish bastard & help those in need!

  • THIEF

  • We need to help!

  • No matter what religion you practice if you cant help out financially help out by praying for these poor people who have been struck by such disaster. Yea they didnt help us during catrina but how could they? They were in poverty before this disaster and prolly will remain if we dont do the right thing help them fix their country. it is a very beautiful place. But to the stuck up rich or watever you are who are looking at this place calling it sum it is beautiful for its culture for its family.

  • I've read a few of the comments and I just wanted to say, does it matter what religion you are? It's our duty to help one another as people on this planet. I'm Catholic myself, but I really do hope everyone, no matter what religion you are, help these people who are suffering. Starbucks, here I come!

  • Guess I am reacting to what I perceive as smug moral superiority (reference "nUltimation" for example). I also think that the arrogant assumption that God must exist because one chooses to believe so begs for a response -- hence my suggestion (below) that people consider reading Bertrand Russell's insightful essay "Why I Am Not a Christian."

I completely agree with your humanitarian sentiments. Apologies for stirring a (likely) pointless theological debate.

  • As a Christian I'm really sorry if people going around claiming to be disciples of Christ have left a bad taste in your mouth. I looked into the article you suggested and while I obviously disagreed with the main crux of it, the author did have some good points. Christians should NOT feel superior, as we are no better than "unbelievers" in any way. I don't believe God exists and so assume He must, I assume He exists from the things I see and experience and therefore believe!

  • I haven't scrolled through the comments to see the anti-help people, but as for me and my Christian friends, we all are praying and/or financially helping in some way for the Hatians. I agree, Confectious, and so would the Bible. Jesus said that what you have done to the "least of these," you have done unto Him (Matt 25:35-46 if you care to look it up). That's a little out of context, but I think the same principle applies.

  • Agreed!

  • it's your HUMAN RESPONSIBILITY to help out, no matter if you're Christian or not.

  • Dear "God":

Please save me from your followers.

  • Why should you get slammed by Christians? For them (us, I suppose I should say), it is terribly important for us to help those around us who are in dire need. I'm very glad you felt compelled to donate for Haiti, apart from God's call. But Christians should believe in humanism also, if you mean it in the strict sense that humans are the most important creature on this earth. Christians find the source of their grace toward others from the grace they receive from God. Don't see why God needs out.

  • By all means donate and help these people, my wife & I just did through the Canadian Red Cross. But let's leave "God" out of it. If you haven't, try reading "Why I Am Not a Christian," an important essay by Bertrand Russell. (If you google the title, you'll find it on-line.)

I suppose we will get slammed by annoyed or angry Christians for expressing a humanistic sentiment.

  • No, rather I respect your God-given right to choose what you want to believe. God allows you to choose Him or reject Him. He wants our love for Him to be of our own choosing not by force. We are all sinners and fall short of tHis glory, but He in His mercy loved us enough to give His life for us that we may live with Him in eternity.Ask God about Mr. Russell's essay. I guarantee you that He will answer you. I have followed Him for 30 yrs. and know first-hand of His goodness. Be blessed.

  • Was just wondering where I could give easily, I'm heading to Starbucks ASAP! Along with giving lets all remember to pray for the people there. God allows things to happen for far better reasons, many we don't ever know at the time. Look so far, the world is coming together to HELP!

  • @fm1224

im glad people like you are giving and helping. but to try and see this tragedy as a possible good thing down the road is just wrong. people have lost their entire families. there is no "cloud with sliver lining" here. no rationality or justification. just utter tragedy. period. i doubt you can accept since you have faith that god has an explanation for everything and all that. but your just wrong man.

  • Man, God is so much bigger then ANY earth quake, we as humans can't fathom why things like this really happen, or why. A lot of times ONLY GOD KNOWS, and we will never. The bible says in the last days there will be earthquakes in divers places, this is just another sign of the end times. Gods trying to get our attention, the WHOLE WORLD'S ATTENTION!

  • C.S. Lewis said it best when he said..."God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains: It is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world."

  • @chefawkes

Are you always that negative? Faith, no faith, God or no God there is no reason to spread such negative vibes. Haiti could certainly bounce back, maybe not soon but you or I can't predict the future. How about we spread more positivity around instead of slamming others for seeing things in a different light.

  • "instead of slamming others for seeing things in a different light. "

so why are you slamming me for seeing things in a different light? practice what you preach.

  • Big difference between slamming and encouraging. I am not trying to bring you down or criticize your personal opinion, I am just trying to encourage everyone to be positive towards one another. Its ok to feel the way you do and carry your opinion, thats what makes human beings different and great. It would just be nice to see people be encouraging towards others in the face of tragedy and rise up against adversity together.

  • "Are you always that negative?"

that didn't sound very "encouraging" or "positive" to me. sounded like sarcasm.

"im glad people like you are giving and helping."

now that sounds encouraging and positive. because while i encourage everyone to do their best to help Haiti and deeply thank those who are, i just think that believing this tragedy and devastation will eventually serve some greater higher purpose is sick, wrong, and disrespectful to the dead and the suffering.

  • @ozzyb24,

Unless Haiti gets these 3 things under control ( in the very near future ) that country most certainly will not be "bouncing back" anytime this century.

    1 ) Political corruption

    2 ) Over population

3 ) A rampant "voodoo" culture based on superstition and pseudo religious ignorance.

If these things are not tackled urgently, we can be "positive" and "encouraging" all we like; Haitians will continue to live in Dickensian squalor - indefinitely.

  • @worthlessdollar1....Amen to that.. WELL SAID..!!!All three of those elements must be changed to see Haiti be renewed.

    What are the chances...

  • I totally missed the donation sign at starbucks as I'm often on my iphone and in my own world. I sat down enjoyed my latte in my own comfortable world and then got this email. I got back up, went to the counter and donated. It was easy, and lucky me I got to sit back down and enjoy the rest of my latte while the people of Haiti suffer on. I will remember and donate again and again.

  • My teens spent 5 hours on Saturday outside of a Starbucks in Wilmette, IL. and raised $1,069.17 in 5 hours for the Red Cross Haiti Relief. They sang songs and gave away brownies despite the 20 degree weather!!

  • @taylorlindstrom cool, you raised them well.
