Your argument sucks. To "stop living in the past" would mean to ignore all of the glorious, historical achievements that have happened in college football. That would include Joe Paterno's national championships, undefeated seasons, or 384 victories mean anything because they took place in the past. It also means 46-17 and 3-9 are part of the past.

Maybe you should take a look at Michigan's win, loss record the past two seasons. Beating bad Michigan teams is nothing to brag about. Iowa has accomplished more this past decade than Penn State has. We have won a BCS bowl against a better opponent. We had more winning seasons. We had an Heisman Trophy finalist. Our players have won the Davey O'Brien Award, The Outland Trophy, The Lou Graza, the Doak Walker, the John Mackey Award.
We've had numerous Big Ten and All American Selections. We have put lots of players in the NFL. Many of them are starters, have earned many Pro Bowls, won awards, and won Super Bowls.

Listening to Notre Dame players, it sounds like Weiss' Strength and Conditioning Coach wasn't as good as the one Kelly hired. The Seminoles great run in the late 80's and 90's would not be possible without Defensive Coordinator Mickey Andrews. Andrews and his defensive coaches helped put a lot of Seminoles in the NFL!

The All Time Series is Tied. Look at PSU's record books on their official Athletic Site. The last time, they updated the Iowa series, was in 2007. The series is tied 11-11. Seriously, it's one bad decade for us, and yet we still have significantly more wins than you since joining the conference. I'm a fan of the present and modern history. I don't go around bragging about Iowa's 1956 and 1958 Rose Bowl Champion teams. Your just upset because you have no 21st Century history to brag about. A National Elite Program doesn't get blown out in the 2nd quarter of the Rose Bowl. Texas, Florida, and Alabama are the Elite Programs right now. Everyone else is chasing them.

Your argument sucks. To "stop living in the past" would mean to ignore all of the glorious, historical achievements that have happened in college football. That would include Joe Paterno's national championships, undefeated seasons, or 384 victories mean anything because they took place in the past. It also means 46-17 and 3-9 are part of the past.

Maybe you should take a look at Michigan's win, loss record the past two seasons. Beating bad Michigan teams is nothing to brag about. Iowa has accomplished more this past decade than Penn State has. We have won a BCS bowl against a better opponent. We had more winning seasons. We had an Heisman Trophy finalist. Our players have won the Davey O'Brien Award, The Outland Trophy, The Lou Graza, the Doak Walker, the John Mackey Award.

Schiano was born and raised in New Jersey. He has taken Rutgers to Five Straight Bowl games. He wants to get the program to the next level and win a conference title. I'm not defending Charlie. But You also have to hire a top notch coaching staff. The Defensive Coordinator couldn't get it done. Listening to Notre Dame players, it sounds like Weiss' Strength and Conditioning Coach wasn't as good as the one Kelly hired. The Seminoles great run in the late 80's and 90's would not be possible without Defensive Coordinator Mickey Andrews. Andrews and his defensive coaches helped put a lot of Seminoles in the NFL!

That's not math, that's the transitive property. Using the transitive property, Juniata College of Huntingdon, PA is the national champions since they beat Florida through 26 degrees of seperation. But we know that A beat B, B beat C, so A beat C is crap. For example, Michigan State beat Iowa who beat Penn State. So Michigan State > Penn State, right? Wrong! The so-called "football transitive property" isn't valid math. That's essentially saying that all games are played on paper. Anyone who's watched any sport knows that A > B > C is NOT always valid. And if losing to Michigan in 2007 means Penn State sucks, it means Florida sucks too. Even if Florida was the 2006 and 2008 national champs, they suck because they lost to the team that lost to Appalachian State. You could use it to claim anyone as "true national champion" but it's all crap.

Your biggest problem is that you're thinking of football teams as having a fixed value assigned to them. Here's why football "transitive property" isn't math. The math principle you stated is valid if you say 10 > 5 > 2. But football teams aren't a fixed value. How the players execute, emotion, momentum, home field advantage, the game plan, and other intangibles influence the game a lot more than each player's star rating. Football isn't math, I think you know that, but just want to bash PSU.

How many screen names do you have? There's two big differences between last year and this. For starters, Penn State's not going to play three yards and a cloud of dust and end up with a baseball score, second, last year you at least had a potent offense. Also, this game is in Beaver Stadium.

Yeah, you beat us by 5 points in your own stadium. This was just like the 2006 Big Ten opener against Ohio State. It was on the road, agianst a team we should have beat, a team we dominated on the field, yet we still managed to give the game away on a silver platter. Penn State will beat Michigan in 2008 to finally break the streak, but the streak of bad Big Ten openers will live on. I predict Penn State losing to Illinois.
