@muskatga I put a motion animation on the image, within the editor. Vegas Movie Pro 11 is available as a free trial for 30 days, it allows for all of these effects. Most other applications offer free trials as well. make the most of them!
@muskatga the birds where a photo and I erased the background out to create the alpha. After Effects is the main program I know of where you can 'rotoscope' video and create alpha channel. But it's time consuming.
@FrameStudiosFilms of the birds, I just duplicated the image and it's motion onto a new layer and flipped it, then adjusted the brightness down to be dark.
hey i have a question, i use adobe premiere pro cs 5.5 and i use a t2i to shoot i was wondering what do you use to convert the files so you can edit them best of luck -chris
@UncleKornicob As far as I know there is no conversion, that's why so many DSLR users have switched to CS5, the software pre-renders as your editing. Are you having trouble editing? (might need a faster computer)
@UncleKornicob Adobe CS5 edits canon DSLR footage natively, but because its an h.264 codec, most normal computers have a hard time with it. If you have Premiere pro CS5.5, you probably have the Adobe Media Encoder, which you can use to convert your DSLR footage. i would convert it to an HD mpeg2 format. Much easier to edit. You can also try a quicktime .mov which you can chose to do uncompressed, but there's no HD preset in AME, and it could still be hard to edit on your computer.
thanks for this knoptop, really useful. When i saw the photo shot first time I thought about how you did that and assumed it was an effect, and i was right :) I might use the photo effect in a 'film noir' film i'm planning to make in the future, and have the classic detective hold the suspects photos up and everything. I actually prefered the dinosoar short to the birthday one, was it just bad luck that you happened to upload the birthday one first or did you prefer it.
@RedSpectrumPictures I had already entered the other video into the contest and found out (too late) that I couldn't submit both. thanks for the feedback!
@javiworld27 I use an option in Premiere on the export called "same as source" which saves the video as an mpeg file with the same settings as the original video. Not sure if this is the best setting, I just know I've had least amount of issues exporting this way. And then for youtube upload, I transcode all my (full res) edited mpeg videos into 720x1280 .mp4 files - Set at 2 pass VBR 5000Kbps h.264 codec - which makes the file much smaller, yet still retains quality.
Love your sense of humor, Dave. and your humility, you don't have to apologize for teaching me something I already know, like you said, it's just fun to see how other people accomplish an effect. It's mostly us film/video/animation nerds that watch this BTS stuff anyway. Rock on!
@Knoptop Do you know If it's possible to do that in iMovie?

Maybe i'm missing something, but where did you get the particle footage? Or did you make it in AE?
ZombieProductionz 6 months ago
@ZombieProductionz it was some old stock footage i had. do a search for some 'particle effects', you should be able to track some down.

@ComputerTricks100000 I was using a trial version of Camtasia. It's a very nice software package, but a little pricey.
