@KarenMalone I did the creative writing course he 'taught' at Manchester Uni - believe me, the man is truly woeful both in attitude and teaching ability. I kept thinking 'is this guy for real - what a cock'.
@SuperZubz Really? That's very, very interesting given the way he is lauded and showered with adulation in the press. It seems you have to dig Amis to be a proper metropolitan intellectual and you're an illiterate neanderthal if you don't. There seems to be an element of the Emperor's New Clothes at work. Do tell us more.....
@TomthatiscalledTom I think he is a very good writer; it's just this demeanour he has. To be fair, outside of class, when we went to the pub afterwards he was okay to talk to and could be quite funny and give some good advice to us aspiring writers. It's just what he did in class and on stage at various readings; his desire to be provocative was nauseating.
@SuperZubz Amis is not at all comfortable with women or prols; he has a great line and some of his points about Islam are timely,only the most spineless liberals would take issue with this but he has never actually written a great novel,he just can't do it.
Should have told Barbara Dickson to stick to warbling and leave writing to the fucking experts.
