Who cares about his technique? He can play it and admire him for his own style, I dont have lessons but I play in my own style and its works. Piano is about expressing yourself not being a robot.

The way you position your hands over the keyboard can mean the difference between playing for the rest of your life, or having to stop due to health problems... I play cello, piano, and guitar, and even small things like slouching can really affect your playing in the long run... back pain and joint pain are only the start :P...

I come from a family of professional musicians who have been playing for their entire lives so I'm speaking from experience. As far as piano technique goes I'm a little rusty (being mainly a cellist). All I know is that the way you "hold your instrument" (position) can affect everything from your spine to your sound. Of course this guy sounds amazing, but to other pianists, technique is the only thing they can pick out and give constructive (or destructive) criticism about.

You obviously know what your talknig about in cello terms. Make sure you understand that even if you have a musical family, that doesnt mean you are like them. A lot of people in my family can play instruments (accordion is a firm favourote) but that doesnt mean they all can. I myself have been playing 7 months almost and i can play "once upon a december" "zanarkand" corpsebride" and so on. Imagination gives you the ability to play like its meant to be played, passionately.

What I don't like about others' extended endings is that they give in to the urge for a 'da capo'. Elfman's score maintains the theme but does not repeat at any time. While it does sound different (no one will sound exactly like Elfman) this ending is true to the rest of the piece in that it keeps changing.
