An authentic raish is one of the toughest sounds for Americans to master. It's easier to pronounce in the middle (like Miri) or at the end (beseder) but really hard at the start (rak). I can't stand when American speakers who are pretty fluent, don't even try a Hebrew accent. Kol HaKavod talmidim!

To pronounce the soft Reish (non rolling) try to lift the mid-to-back part of your tongue to touch your hard palate... (It's almost like saying the letter Chet, but adding voice to it.) It's difficult but with a bit of practice it would become easier.

I must say that when I learned English I was baffled by the 'th' sound :o) learning a language as an adult is difficult, but I am so happy you chose Hebrew! It is a beutiful language. Enjoy.
