@link92394 hold the stick in a down+left position halfway so that the action button doesn't say jump and then roll and hold down + left all the way to the flat surface between the diagonal indent and down indent.
see, every time i try this i cant slip into the wall! Ive (successfully, not really) slipped through before but i didnt time it right so i fell into the black void! after the 3rd time i fell into the darkness, ive never been able to do it again. PS: i play on a gamecube
I could NEVER get that right, no matter what I do. After watching this, maybe I can get it right...But did you sidehop first, or did a backflip first before the backwards sidehop? I must know. I'm doing a no Young Link switch-back run. AKA, once I turn into Adult Link, can't switch back.

Make sure you have the correct angle. The angle in this video looks really incorrect to me. >_>
Look at Acryte's video on it. It shows the correct angle.
Also, backflipping before the sideroll makes it so that you don't move during you roll, which helps greatly.
