Those are some amazing shots of Leadbelly in the first part of the tape. My dad saw Leadbelly perform in a nightclub in New York, in PRISON GARB, in the early 1950's. Check THAT out!
Many musicians are really happy when people makes covers of their song, no matter how good or bad the cover is, It show´s them that they have made a great song.
Rip Stevie ray Vaughn, one of the greatest guitarist ever.
STEVIE... He was the SOUL and the SPIRIT... An angel of a man who spoke to people as if he knew them forever. God reached out and touched him in a way none other can say. We so truly miss his musical genious. He is without a doubt one of the best musicians our world had ever known. Stevie... I miss ya brotha... See ya on the other side...
yes that is true but it still is a cover, like what hendrix did with all along the watchtower, it was mcuh better than Bob Dylans version but it still was a cover
he feels great. theres nothing wrong with another musician being able to better render a song then you, because you created it in the beginning. Dylan was happy because the song finally sounded like he imagined it would...thats what he said when he heard Jimmie's version.
The same thing when Johnny Cash covered Nine Inch Nails - Hurt. Trent Reznor frequently has stated that the song is "no longer his" because of how Johnny Cash did it.
You play guitar? It's called an arrangement when you interpret a song using different music than was written originally: Clapton's I Shot the Sheriff, Chili Peppers Higher Ground, for example...a cover is what a fucking radio DJ calls it...did Clapton cover Layla when he did the acoustic version? NOoooo...he rearranged it!!! As he says in the beginning of the song:" let's see if you can spot this one..."
One of my favourite songs, i love this video, i almost cry everytime i watch it. RIP SRV one of the best guitarists of all time. Thank you soo much for posting this video
A visual tour de force comparable to Vaughan's music. Bravo! I agree with another viewer: best I've seen on YouTube. Congratulations, amigo, superbly done.
Wow, SavageAnimal2006. You can't compare a cover by Skid Row to SRV or Jimi. Thats like comparing Caffeine to Cocaine. Cocaine may make you a little hyper and euphoric. But Cocaine is gonna be much more intense.
to whoever said this was too long, this could have gone on for an hour and i would still love it. this was amazing- RIP the greatest guitarist there will ever be
i actually like srvs little wing better than hendrix sometimes srv does sing when he plays this song live so its not like he cant play it and sing at the same time
Saying Stevie's Little Wing is too long compared to Jimi is like saying Sex with Charlize Theron was too long compared to Cindy Crawford- fagetaboutit you are clueless my friend:)
A great tribute video, A great fender making video, a great video overall. RIP SRV...I didn't even know you existed until this day, and for that i'm sorry. Now I will never forget you. Great cover, as good as jimi.
SRV's version was waaaaaay too long. There's a lot to be said for just the right length of song/solo. Jimi's version is much much better ....even his live versions ( Berkley as example) kick this one's ass.
There's nothing wrong with a three minute hook. Example - My first 45 - You Really Got Me - Kinks. Beats the shit out of protracted guitar noodling a la -In a Gadda Da Vida.
Albert King is the best example I know. Minimal playing. short songs, but KILLER tone and feeling. That's why SRV toured with him in 85. (Saw em). He understood that and wanted to learn.
