I bought the D90. I went to a star party and kept my lens open for 30 seconds and caught a shooting star. sick! The Nikon D3 is so great that it will tell me where and when the shooting star will appear and it will shoot it for me...that D3 is SICK! jerkoff I hate you

You make a fair point regarding "Live View" and as you say all point and shoot cameras have this facility. Unfortunately while I like all the professional cameras that Nikon produce - they are over-priced and of course in fierce competition with Canon. The D3x is priced far too agressively but, as always, it depends what you need the camera for. Thankfully good shots still come from the photographers "eye"! That will never change but technology does tend to mislead the novices!

Damn that thing is a beast.....I actually bought the D90 like an idiot. I got some great night pics. I had the lens open for 30 seconds and believe it or not I got a shooting star in one shot. What are the chances that star would have gone through while I had the lens open?

Undoubtedly an awesome camera but I don't think I would use the horizon widget, I'm perfectly capable of doing that the old fashioned way. Also everyone on you tube seems to make such a big thing of the gizmos and how many frames per second. I have a Canon 5D which has a much lower fps rate, but I have never used high fps.  Unless you are a sports photographer it's just a number to boast about. Ooh look mine does 11fps, so what?! What's more important the gear or the photo?

It's the new 14-24 f2.8 Nikkor wideangle zoom lens. I've been lucky enough to own one of these lenses for few weeks now, along with my new D3. Fantastic!!! If you are able to afford one, buy it!!

Most Nikon dealers, in the UK at least, have them on the shelf. I got mine from a London nikon dealer. I just walked in and they had a couple in stock.

Price? Around GBP 1100, or about $1800.

The D3 camera is much more difficult to find at the moment!
