I love my XM and am pleased that I willnow have access to the shows that were only available on Sirius. Plus I can listen to it on my Computer at work, its not just in the car.
@MNguy26 yeah but can't listen to NASCAR or most of the good sports networks online due to espn3.com and nascar.com exclusivity rights....which sucks.

Oh spare me. I'm so sick and tired of inept CEOs of companies like Sirius and XM blaming the government for them not knowing how to run their companies. Both companies gambled on their futures by signing high profile personalities like Howard Stern and Opie and Anthony to ridiculous contracts and LOST. Is THAT the government's fault too? Both Sirius and XM are inept companies and now, the multimillionaires who ran it into the ground want to merge the two in order to save their own skins? Weak.
You sir are a fucking idiot. Who else is there too blame? The government hold up the merger because your leaders are corrupt as fuck. JC gains nothing from saying this on TV. He's unbiast he doesn't beleave it's right and neither should anybody. how can a pay radio service be a monopoly? They compete directly with free radio..It's still radio.!
These 2 companies finaly merged and it's cost them a fortune. they should be refunded all legal fees. Your leaders are corrupt and your a muppet.
Radio is radio.. there is no monopoly.! Your not being forced to buy satradio and nobody is stopping others trying. How can you call a premium rate service a monopoly if there is a free alternitive & how can a product nobody needs be a monopoly.?
There are a couple of fundamental problems with satellite radio. One, it's an obsolete technology. Two, the concept of radio you have to pay for to listen to is foolish and there's no demand for it. Most people would rather just put up with commercials or just buy an iPod than pay to listen to commercial free music radio. Merger or no, both XM and Sirius are completely overextended and up to their eyeballs in debt and will probably end up going under within the next 4 or 5 years tops.
Not commited to playing the same top 10 tracks like clearchannel. I dont have to keep hearing The underdog by spoon, or make love in this club by usher 4 times a day every day.

Totally agree with you. Having said that, we are an exception to the rule. Furtermore, as much as devices like the iPod have hurt terrestrial radio, the effect on satellite radio is tenfold. I'm a Sirius subscriber and I love it too. The bottom line is that XM is worth over $1 billion and Sirius is worth just a shade under that and both are millions of dollars in debt. Even if they merge they'll still be in massive debt. Satellite radio on its last leg. Let's enjoy while it while we still can.
Wow Thunderstruck did you really get hit? ;P Seriously if you know anything about tech. this is the latest technology available to the public. Sat Radio statement covered it well but I am shocked you can't see the market for it. I have it in my car plan on having one in my house too! Excellent commercials sucks! :)
The merger happens now the FCC has ruined it, the stock won't move up much in value now, the damage is done. What's Sirius going to reach now just $4? Got nothing against Howard Stern but Sirius was in debt and then gives him almost a $300 million dollar bonus. They still aren't getting the subscribers they need.
To BlackViper maybe you were bein sarcastic but it doesn't make a difference if someone is a democrate or republican, both parties have had their share of corrupt politicians and liars. I voted democrate in the past and am sayin this. This year I wanted to vote Ron Paul and hes republican but I saw him as the most honest even if his ideas did seem crazy to some or many. Republicans and democrates have flip flopped issues to see which way votes go.
This guy is the fucking man, hes not an idiot like most brainwashed people who beleives whatever the government tells them. He actually uses his brain, and thinks for himself. He is a real true american !
Cramer is an idiot. You're pretty naive if you listen to this nut job. He's looking for numero uno, himself, I bet he's put in a bunch of money in those stocks hoping that a deal would happen, but instead he's lost a ton of money, boohoo.
People want the local feel of their local terrestrial radio station. Its the same reason there is still local news on TV. People in the middle-of-nowhere Iowa don't want to hear a show from New York City. Terrestrial radio will never die.
Actually I'm from "the middle of nowhere Iowa" (St. Charles).
Terrestrial radio is the pits here. The only talk radio is Right wing. And for a state with no major sports teams they are the most sports crazy that I've ever seen. Music stations will cover college sporting events in the middle of the afternoon on a random weekday.
I would go nuts if I didn't have satellite radio.
For the people that want local flare. Just keep listening to local radio.
If said tornado takes out the transmission tower or the station itself then it won't matter. Lets see a tornado take out the satellite.
Plus, the station most likely won't cut from their pre-programed crap fest long enough to do any good. My weather radio is what keeps me informed of bad weather.

jim cramer is a fuckin nutjob. in case you didnt realize, we have a congress controlled by democrats, the most trustworthy people in the world. democrats dont play the dirty politics game. in the entire history of america (1000 years) a democrat has never done anything underhanded or against the law. cramer needs to get his fuckin facts straight before he starts bashing these people. republicans on the other hand? haha, thats a whole different ball game. these people lie every chance they get.

terrestrial radio will not die... just like terrestrial television didn't die when cable came... it will force all radio to be better and you will get more bang for the buck when it comes to you sirius or xm subscription
Let them merge!! It will make terrestrial radio better or die. If regular radio cannot compete on a content basis with satellite radio or an iPod I say let them die and all the damn 35 minutes per our commercials die with them.

But now XM radio on internet will not be for free no more , you have to pay an extra of $2.00 on your monthly subscription to listen music on line ,

Yeah that kind of stinks
but it s only $24 bucks a year . So i burn 1.5 hours of ewages a year to be entertained and educated on some channels. I think it is worth it
