NOT TRUE - the sheety motorway built by nazis in1930's is in Germany about 20 miles from polish border. Once you pass the border the motorway is good. There is plenty of petrol stations there, unfortunately fuel prices are no longer that low as shown in the movie. Szczecin may not be the nicest of Polish cities, very much due to British planes that destroyed it during the WW2, however it's got very interesting architecture, there has been a lots of investments made recently so worth to visit.
Im from Szczecin and unfortunately I have to agree partly. It is exactly like he said, really really bad impression when you cross the old border in Kolbaskowo. The nice motorway suddenly finishes and the landscape is not pleasant at all, grey and dodgy. Szczecin itself is mostly dark as well, there are beautiful street and places in it, but usually reminds Britons of Manchester...When it comes to petrol stations just checked the Google map and it shows at least 4 just behind the border!!! hmm..

Szczecin is closest to German border coutry ... The Ghost Town was Kolbaskowo village and it's not a ghost town because the center of this village is more on the west side and that shot that was shown was only on old polish-german market.

Yes, but there are two different points. Cars are stolen here, too and of course they are being stolen in rome as well. But i was talking about cars being stolen and then brought to somewhere else - which is either to africa or to poland, from where they are transferred to some other country.
It may be that there aren't actually that many cars being stolen directly IN Poland, but many, many stolen cars are definitly brought there.
Most of the stolen cars going towards the Poland go further to Russia. They usually don't stay in Poland. Not all of cource, unfortunatelly.

I drive an '86 Ford F250 turbo diesel and make my own biodiesel. Runs great and if I had a gas truck I'd be lucky if I got 10 mpg for what I have to do with mine.

I don´t know about other european countries but here in germany diesel is a lot cheaper than petrol . so a lot of diesel cars are sold here. BMW diesels are outstanding efficient, a lot better than the hybrid crap of toyota or lexus. But you´re right, I have been to chicago in summer 2008 and diesel was more expensive than petrol. but nevertheless both petrol and diesel is way cheaper then in germany.

Just because it says it has no diesel left doesnt mean it cant go any further. Watch the Top Gear Audi A8 challenge, or the Top Gear Economy Race, it said they didnt have any diesel left but they still worked.

Haha, famous Polish rage. Come on folks, Poland is sunny and bright and happy sometimes but when it's grey and rainy it's depressingly grey and rainy. Especially in places like Szczecin suburbs (in case of problems with a pronunciation, it's something like: shtetsin). One issue about the clip though - there are at least two gas stations between the border and the city but, oh, well, in TV you've got to spice things up a little for the sake of entertainment :)

I'm hungarian and i think lots of countries has places like this, but it's not about the whole country! Poland is beautiful, but not for a man who knows nothing about this part of Europe!!!!! One of my friends living is spain and working as a security guard in a big hotel and he said british people are just drinking and drinking ALWAYS and singing stupid songs in the middle of the bar between the other guests very very loudly.................:((((

I heard Poland doesn't have good diesel. And our BMW said 0 kilometers, and we still did about 25 km to the gas station. 635d is great.. Love the idea.

I really don't get the "skint flint" mentality over diesels, the dirty tractor days are long over.
Yes they don't sound as good as screaming V8 granted, but they just put modern petrol engines to shame.
Even if you don't aim to drive for economy you get an excellent return..
Personally I love the sound of the turbo in my 1.9TDi whinding up.

when was this recorded ? In Poland diesel is like 5 pennys cheaper then petrol now... and petrol is like 1 pound for a a liter...which makes it 7pounds for a gallon...its HORRIBLY expensive...

Probably, the number of stolen cars brought to Poland does not differ significantly from such number of cars being stolen in Rome (Italy) where every minute a car gets stolen...

Yes, but there are two different points. Cars are stolen here, too and of course they are being stolen in rome as well. But i was talking about cars being stolen and then brought to somewhere else - which is either to africa or to poland, from where they are transferred to some other country.
It may be that there aren't actually that many cars being stolen directly IN Poland, but many, many stolen cars are definitly brought there.

Most of the stolen cars going towards the Poland go further to Russia. They usually don't stay in Poland. Not all of cource, unfortunatelly.
I was one day warned to be carefull near the borders with Belarus when travelling with nice cars - you may easily "sell" one.
Being honest - last few years result with continuous decreasing of the stolen cars factor in Poland. It's nice as I also was a victim of that sort of the crime in the past.

Besides, Merc E '98 costs in Poland approx. 35,000 PLN (1EUR = 4,5PLN) so it is quite easy accessible for many people. I don't discuss here of what sort of the cars they are (mean: they're after crash, made from two or more broken cars, etc. - this is a big problem too; but they are definitely not stolen in most cases).

I've never driven a diesel car of any kind. I've never liked the Hybrid bullshit. The Prius is so ugly, that it makes the Yugo look like a nice car. I'd love to buy a diesel car, maybe a small truck, if for no other reason than that it gets better mileage than Petrol.

I drive an '86 Ford F250 turbo diesel and make my own biodiesel. Runs great and if I had a gas truck I'd be lucky if I got 10 mpg for what I have to do with mine.
Diesel is the way to go.

I don´t know about other european countries but here in germany diesel is a lot cheaper than petrol . so a lot of diesel cars are sold here. BMW diesels are outstanding efficient, a lot better than the hybrid crap of toyota or lexus. But you´re right, I have been to chicago in summer 2008 and diesel was more expensive than petrol. but nevertheless both petrol and diesel is way cheaper then in germany.

Well I'll be happy when EU will fall apart through it's stupid l(fag's)law and socialistic economy... BTW Poland fought for over a month with Germany and USSR the same time. I will not coment French defence when they have time and the money to prepare to the war with Germany. But what most important is that I don't care what will happend to UK with very high debt when this crisis will go deeper..

In 1939 the Germans ran fast but into the France territory so don't say that it was so easy with poles. In fact they've never were successfull with them then.

price of the diesel he has fill in was 4,34 zł. its now 3,55 zł per litre (0,2 gal). not long ago it was nearly 3.00zł per litre. cheers from PL
