@FalconLake211 Both. Read up on them. '70 1/2 to '73 have the same body parts. You can get '69 parts easier. '70-73 are usually more expensive. There were about 380,000 '69's produced because they held production 6 months longer. Both can handle big blocks. '69 has a poor steering design...
@WuMbOpAiNtBaLl If you have to ask, it's not for you. "You'll shoot yer eye out kid!"
Seriously, unless you are rich you need to start with something reasonable. These cars are like big guns; they can be very dangerous. Take your time and move up slowly. This is good because you learn as you go. These cars require lots of maintanance. My friend took 18 years to get the car where it is in this vid 4 years ago and it has changed from then to now as well. Look into it. Be careful!!!
@lobelifter thank you. this is a beautiful car that he has. not to be a pain but what would be a good muscle car to start with. im 16 about to be 17 and have to spend 10000.
@WuMbOpAiNtBaLl Start with a Nova from '68-72. They have the same frame and platform as a Camaro. They respond well to small blocks. When you are done it will hold value. Take auto shop classes and "STAY AWAY FROM BLOGS!" A hydraulic cammed 383 and a TH350, a 3500 converter with 3.73 gears and a 28"x 9"x15 tire in the rear and slapper traction bars will be a lot of reliable fun... for a beginner... Send me a personal message for more info. Spend your money wisely.

@ tigersrule6... is lame. my uncle has more than just camaros. he has trans ams, mustangs, 1960s and 70s chevy trucks. he even has a 1966 corvette. it pisses me off so bad. he has a 70 camaro in his side yard that ran high 12s in a 1/4 mile but has been parked for 10+ years and has been rotting ever since. its almost too far gone.
my uncle owns a junk yard in ohio. in it is a 1969, 3 1970's and a 71' camaro ss and he will not come off any of them. not even for family. makes me sick.
is that oil that comes out the pipes when u rev it? my firebird does that a lil 2 when i rev it hard. cant seem to find out why. what do u idle that thing at in park? and idle it in gear? i idle mine at 1150 in park and 650 in gear, the convertor is a lil to tight. nice car by the way man.
Aww cmon I cant send you money. I need it for fuel to get me to the track which takes me an hour and a half to get to. 3600rpm slow cruise on the highway as well sucks but its 100% street car
Hey, Please watch the profanity... I too think american muscle has conquered motorsports. I used to drag race a '66 bug however... It didn't run on rice though! It was said to sound like a small block chevy when it revved to 9,500 rpm...
Nice ride!!! Nice clean pass at the track too,get your launch dialed in and that 11.38 could dip into the 10's.I dig the clean crisp sounding cackle from the exhaust too...SWEET!!!
It's run 11.31 the same day as the vid. The cam was "way" too big and now has the cam for the application. It barks now!!! A 4500 stall will replace the 3500. The front suspension is next. It "was" a G-machine style... now he has the drag flu!!! Ha! We are looking for 10's... Testing is this friday nite with the cam change and front shocks removed... I'll try to post it.
The car just ran an 11.10 @ 121.5mph last night with the changes I spoke of... It ran out of fuel at 1000 ft. He found this morning, the fuel vent was plugged on the tank...
like wich one has the split grill like the chrome is only on the two sides thanks

its fuel from the big cam. Its loading up at idle.
NoSweatOffMySack 2 years ago
Actually, black smoke would be carbon from over-fueling. (running rich) -- Oil smoke would be blue, anti-freeze / water would be white.
Blue smoke when first starting could mean the valve seals are getting weak / worn.
Black smoke is usually nothing to worry about unless its un-naturally thick or the car isn't running right.
