What a horrible song.....and I'm a HUGE Karen C. fan!!
I was working in Century City in the late 70's, and I saw Karen going into the EMMYS one nite...and she was SO VERY THIN....I never forgot it....She died way too early...with a voice that few will ever match.....
If you search for "Carpenters - A Christmas Portrait 1978 (Part 1)" and go to the very end, you'll see his picture and hear "Introducing Peter (something like Piff or Pit)."
Damn...Everytime I see Jimmy from the mid-late 70s era in these clips, he always reminded a lot of my best friend at school during the early 80s. He was so much alike, it was kind of scary.
i think the sisters in both families got most of the talent. not that jimmy and richard dont have great voices but kristy and karen just compliment each others voices. maybe thats why. i love kristy!
you know i wonder how kristy felt when karen died, sometimes you just winder becuase she was on both christmas specials, and idk, i've just always wondered. hmmmmm.....
@Gwenster11 Probably devastated- Karen does seem like the "big sister" type here. In fact, according to "Little Girl Blue," if Karen had a daughter one day, she had wanted to name her "Kristi." Richard ended up naming one of his daughters that.
i kno. its a two seater with all the stuff in it and hmmm, there four people. maybe the bros will leave the sis' there?! lol it would fit the song! lol
Many thanks for posting this. There sure were a lot of wonderful Christmas specials in those days. I have one of Donny & Marie, and this one reminds me of it.
that is so bizzare ! OMG

What a bittersweet video...
Looking back, life seemed a little simpler then and people, in general, more "connected" no matter how cheesy it might have appeared.

I don't care that he has 5 kids with his adopted 1st cousin, Richard is a closet case.

Jimmy is the older sibling to Kristy, they also have an older brother. Jimmy is married and has kids now.
I sooooo miss Karen! The musical world is just not the same!

Karen Carpenter is good, you'd have to be pretty awful to sing a song with her and have it come out bad :)

Oh gosh I loved listening to the Carpenters and was so mad at the media for Karen dying.
If they just published the facts and not what
they thought Karen would be living maybe to
this day.

I love this cheesey 70's variey show banter. Karen had such charisma. They don't make tv like this anymore.
