I've hiked around that park several times. There's nothing inherantly scary about that bridge or the park. The only weird, slightly spooky thing is WAY farther up the trail, in the spot that some religions use to perform ritual(s). I wouldn't let "tipsters" freak you out about a bunch of lumber, stones, and nails. It would be like being afraid of your house. ;) Words only have as much power as you give to them and this is, after all, a drama.
