Being in law enforcement myself, it deeply upsets me to see everyone bashing these cops. Here's why:

I could immediately saw they do the heimlich maneuver wrong. You are not supposed to press on his ribcage but press below the lungs and the ribcage on the belly area towards the lungs.

You have to realize that if Andrew had the power to pry three men off of him, he could surely reach into the holster of an officer and we would be watching a very different story. I'm not saying that he would have, I'm saying that if the suspect possesses enough of a threat, it is completely in our jurisdiction to use a non-lethal shot to restrain him.

REAL STORY
I almost died by asphyxia on July 2010. At 3:30am i woke up, my airway was block, apparently by saliva and mucus, i was Alone on my house's third floor. My family was sleeping on the second floor. I was lucky that after a few seconds of struggling , my airway slowing allow air through again. I felt i only had a few seconds before collapse. it's maddening when you don't feel air going through. I wouldn't be here now :)

Being in law enforcement myself, it deeply upsets me to see everyone bashing these cops. Here's why:
The officers were doing their job. They weren't being brutal. The man, however, fought back. He resisted arrest. He stuffed the bags in his mouth. He put up a fight that the officers didn't want to have, so they fired a non-lethal taser.
The man choked on the bag that he put in his own mouth after officers tried to restrain his blind rage, and it's the cops' fault? Please. Give me a break.

I could immediately saw they do the heimlich maneuver wrong. You are not supposed to press on his ribcage but press below the lungs and the ribcage on the belly area towards the lungs.
My mother recently choked and was on the brink of life and death, but in the heat of the moment I got up and saved her doing the heimlich exactly as I explained before.
I think some training to those cops would help. The heimlich maneuver is a very simple and efficient method that barely takes any time to learn

You have to realize that if Andrew had the power to pry three men off of him, he could surely reach into the holster of an officer and we would be watching a very different story. I'm not saying that he would have, I'm saying that if the suspect possesses enough of a threat, it is completely in our jurisdiction to use a non-lethal shot to restrain him.

I heard that the victim was causing a lot of problems at the home he was visiting, so maybe they sensed a bigger threat than whatever it is see in this news clip.
In any case, as I said before, it is a very bizarre and sad death, but it's the victim's own fault.

I almost died by asphyxia on July 2010. At 3:30am i woke up, my airway was block, apparently by saliva and mucus, i was Alone on my house's third floor. My family was sleeping on the second floor. I was lucky that after a few seconds of struggling , my airway slowing allow air through again. I felt i only had a few seconds before collapse. it's maddening when you don't feel air going through. I wouldn't be here now :)

The first time I almost did not make it and my life flashed in front of my eyes. I could literally not get an ounce of breath in. It felt crazy. Second time, my Dad (a doctor) practically launched my wheaties across the room. This poor guy did not deserve to die like this. Ya know, there was a lot going on that caused this to happen. First, he should have never put the dope in his mouth, second, the cops had no idea that he was choking on something until AFTER the fact. They simply thought he was resisting them, fighting them. They didn't know he was choking and just trying to get the object out of his airway....... they were doing their job, by the book. It happened, regardless. It's very sad that it happened, but place blame accordingly.
