If the habit of adding 'ie' or 'y' to the end of words is odd, just try and find someone in Oz who actually pronounces the 'er' on the end of a word.

Better becomes 'betta' and it can sound more like 'bedda'.

Aussies seem to understand each other well enough, but they think we Kiwis speak with a very flat accent, we think they sound squeaky.
