Mendelssohn is a first-rank composer: (1809-47) He did so much in such a short life. It is up to the player to make his genius apparent. This is one such account.

Richter and Bolet two giants of the piano. Something overall makes me favor the Richter. But who of any of us can say what's the best perfomance of any given piece? Pure unecessary arrogance.

No this is not a Steinway, but could indeed be a Baldwin - though I can't tell if it has their trademark Acu-Just hitch pins.

Bolet's playing is fantastic, fully musical, in control and offering electrifying tempos!
