So creepy, my granddad died recently and he painted an elephant that looks so simular to your grandads one. He painted lots of watercolours, quite a lot of africa because he lived in Zimbabwe when it was quite a rich country.

@ConorBoyle93 I had to google it too, from what I've found there has been 4 versions of the dollar notes (first, second, third and fourth). The 3rd had the least value so I'm guessing that note up there is one :) The simple conversion site, I'm guessing, give either the first notes value or the 4th (even though it was abandoned soon after introduction) since they have the highest value.
