this show was so full of itself. im surprised any of 'our guys' in this actually died, I was waiting for them to eat a hershey bar and just whoop everyone barehanded. and is it just me or was everyone in E company portrayed as an intolerable asshole?
Considering the muzzle energy put out by 30.06 and 8mm mauser, it must have been terrifying to have swarms of either of those round whizzing in one's general direction.
@HGAarrity1 and @M1LS572 maybe the guy at 2:26 moved ,because he was still alive, just strongly wounded. These series have an insane rating, big budget, great actors, and it was watched dozens of times, every second before releasing, check before giving fake comments.
@xXInYouFaceXx thats where You are wrong. Russians fought the elite soldiers, best of the best Germany had to offer. And americans fought random civilians, like easy targets with like no training, and most of germany's armor, artillery, etc. was used in Russia. If Germany were with Russia, they would have ruled with them. It's just the number defeated Germany. Russia had an insane amount of soldiers, tanks, etc.
personally, i am byist as I am german but I believe that the Germans were the best army in the history of the world, person for person, them and the spartons. If they would have made a treaty with Russia or the US they would be ruling right now.
@a23962222 theres where I think youre wrong. The germans were more than the Americans, but still... the americans had a higher average ratio than the germans. I dont think the whermarch or whatever its called was the best army. Hitler didnt think so either
@xXInYouFaceXx the Americans had the better infantry, thats for sure because they had the better guns in quantity, like the Garand or the thompson or the BAR i know the wehrmacht and the Waffen SS useg Stg.44 but not much and only near the end of the war and although the german tanks were way better than the US the Allied Forces had more and often much faster tanks which made it easier to flank them and ofcourse they had the airforce over france
Well Garand was really good weapon, but as it was semiautomatic while Kar98 was bolt action there is no contest there. On the other hand MP40 vs Thompson is pretty even fight, while BAR has snowballs chance in hell against MG34 or MG42. On tanks you are right, but not always there was a chance for flanking, and even with it the losses would be big for USA. Besides on average training the German forces were better, even though Germans weren't really trained for defence.
@Pikkabuu Well yes and no ofcourse the BAR not as effective as an Mg 34 or Mg 42 but it wasnt used like a machinegun more like an Mix between LMG and Assaultrifle, and it was much lighter than all German Machinguns. In comparison to the Stgw. 44 it used a larger round, was more accurate and had a higher rate of fire also it used a bipod and ofcourse the Americans used the BAR more much largely then the Germans the Stgw. to the tanks on direct confrontation it looked bad for the Allies but
BAR wasn't in fact that good weapon. It was unpredictable, magazine fed, and the fast firerate meant that the small magazine was empty in seconds. It was easy to make, so it was more suitable to produce in large numbers, but the MG42 was also easy to produce, and it outshined BAR in all other fields. Also they both used largely the same bullet (BAR had longer, but MG-42 was bigger), so they tied on that field.
Well yeas. In paper they were meant for different purposes, but on the battlefield BAR was used more as a LMG, than its other purposes. This means that MG-42 and BAR are comparable.
@Pikkabuu Well nao... You cant compare a MG42 wich can have thousands of rounds without reloading, while the BAR only have 20 rounds... The MG42 must be at least the double weight than the BAR, and the BAR was used my a single soldier.. while the MG42 was mounted and used by atleast 2 persons
BAR weighted 8,8 kg, while MG-42 weighted 11,57 kg, so there wasn't a big difference between them on weight. Also BAR was used by two to three men crew with roles similar to the crew of MG-42. Ie. rest of the men carried ammo and acted as spotters for gunner.
@Pikkabuu dont get me wrong i love the mg-42, but the only gun comparable to it, was the Browning 1919A4, it was the standard light machine gun of world war two :)
@Pikkabuu when US or British tanks flanked German Tanks they had great chances on a victory.... inspecial when the used M4A3(76)s, M18s and m10s. but ofcourse a Panther had the better chances in a 1vs1 against a sherman.
P.S. the germans used largely not well trained foreign forces at the westwall, the well trained units fought mainly at the eastern front
@xXInYouFaceXx i agree with you there, but with @a23962222 is correct if the Nazis had held theyre treaty with Russia, and Hitler took it step by step, every country would be speaking German
@a23962222 But they didn't want to. Hitler accepted no other policy but crush kill destroy, and the USSR wouldn't have accepted one anyway. Or the US, at that point.
@a23962222 the US would never have made a treaty with hitler; roosavelt was already preparing for war before america was even in it. And the germans did make a treaty with russia but hitler backstabbed them with opperation barberosa.
@a23962222 Certainly the Wehrmacht established a record of achievement during the war that was remarkable. However the German people, during the Nazi era, were responsible for horrific acts and the genocide of many groups of people. No amount of bravery or achievement on the part of German soldiers can make up for the horrible and inhuman acts of the German people during the Nazi regime.
@a23962222 Not really, half of the German army was under-trained during the blitz. They also didn't upgrade vast majorities of their Infantry to match American infantry firepower, the Germans were still mostly using a late 1800's rifle. German tanks were good, but totally outnumbered 6 to 1 I think. The Germans had ALOT of good designs, but couldn't mass produce many of them because of their industrial capacity... and Hitler (mostly Hitler). They did have an edge in tactics, in the beginning.
@a23962222 i agree the germans were a well trained army but some of the nazi soldiers began to lose faith in hitlers way of doing things such as killing so many innocent people and the number of casualties on there side i think that some of them knew they would lose and that hitler didnt care about there individual needs but more of what he needed to rule such a propaganda
@a23962222 and it wasn't really down to who had the best army it was who had the resources to keep fighting germany was completley destroyed by the allied bombing eventually the people would of turned on hitler
