How odd to add a verse I've never heard before and then skip the final phrase that descends to the low note. It sounds like he's singing it in F, so I guess he didn't want to sing a low F. I'm surprised because he seemed very comfortable with all the low notes in "I am a rover". I'm going to post a version of my own when the sheet music finally gets here. I do it in F or maybe D.
Peter Dawson and Wilfred Glenn lived long enough to see the electrical/electronic recordings, radio, television, talking movies and to leave the testimony of their talents in better recordings than this 1905 disc which like the original version of Wilfred Glenn (1913) is already a classic recording for the English-speaking listeners.
Thanks RTF. It doesn't sound too bad for a 1905 record. Luckily, this disc is pretty good quality. The early G&T's can vary greatly, and some are almost inaudible, due to the materials used to make them.

Very nice rendition of this classic! Thanks for posting. This is the best one I've ever heard.

It was a family favourite. I played piano and we all sang. Loved the last beware. Peter went up, and we went down in gales of laughter.
