This sounds like a great and worthwhile project. However, I don't believe for one second that any part of the profits, even a minute portion, will go to help the local needy population. This is simply not the Haitian way: The rich steals from the poor and the only thing they will gladly give in return is disdain. That line about helping the needy is just a public relation ploy that is very apparent and transparent to anyone who is familiar with the Haitian upper class.
Why should "helping the needy be part of this?" Like any investment, this is to make profit but not to give handouts to no one. The so called needy will benefit by getting a job and using that income to take care of themselves and family.

To Petercann, Newsflash! I am 100% Haitian. Since the inequality is what drove your ass out of Haiti. STAY AWAY from it. It was this inequality that made the USA a rich country and many European countries. Haiti is an island of 8 million people, any smart SOPHISTICATED man would understand that the profits of one hotel couldn't alleviate poverty for that amount of people nor did they mention that in the commercial. You better get your ass down that pedestal if you think for one second you can comprehend the Queen's English better than I.

Go listen to the infomercial again and pay close attention between 8:10 and 8:26. BTW: Alleviating poverty doesn't mean reaching every single person. If you are talking about reaching everyone , then your aim is to eradicate not alleviate. (That's the Queen's english). Two more points: Not all 8 million Haitians are poor, and I sponsor 3 kids in haiti at roughly $300 per kid, so indeed even 1% of the profit of a hotel can alleviate poverty in a community.( Queen's english definition)

To Petercann, there are so many Haitians risking their lives on those wooden boats to reach any shores illegally and face humiliation. So many Hatians had to go to DR legally & illegally just to face humiliation and this is how you welcome the news of a new Hotel opening in the capital. Haiti is on the road to become once again "The Pearl of the Caribbean" so if you can be happy for her or if you can't contribute; just shut up! Once again, what have you done lately for the poor Haitians?

I do not blame you though because ignorance is bliss. i said at the onset this is a great and worthwhile project. However, I don't believe for a moment any portion of the profit will be dedicated to alleviate poverty as they claim in the commercial. Yes, Haitians perception of respect -when it comes to the DR is, after milking it to the bone, is to have Dominicans give up their land for them and jump out to sea!

They will still LEECH US to death, tweet-in-denial. That seems to be a Haitian mantra of sorts, and I'm yet to see what large scale (again, without leeching us Dominicans) will Haitians undertake to, in effect, move their failed state forward without dumping its legions of malnourished trespassers on OUR side of this island (it's NEVER been yours, regardless your 22-year savage occupation). Maybe it is time that I post a video of some of what I witness in the streets of Santo Domingo every day!

This is multi million dollars project so imagine the amount of people who are getting and will be getting jobs. The amount of tourists with money it will attract and surely other hotels like it since there will be a market for it. This is a start for a better future in Haiti. For those skeptics, remember that "Rome wasn't built on one day" I applaud these investors on such a project. I look foward on staying at OASIS in the near future.

This sounds like a great and worthwhile project. However, I don't believe for one second that any part of the profits, even a minute portion, will go to help the local needy population. This is simply not the Haitian way: The rich steals from the poor and the only thing they will gladly give in return is disdain. That line about helping the needy is just a public relation ploy that is very apparent and transparent to anyone who is familiar with the Haitian upper class.

Why should "helping the needy be part of this?" Like any investment, this is to make profit but not to give handouts to no one. The so called needy will benefit by getting a job and using that income to take care of themselves and family.

This is not a charitable project or about getting in touch with your humanity!! Its about making money, is there something wrong with that?? The problem in Haiti is not lack of charitable organizations but lack of jobs and this project will help the poor by providing jobs for the locals. If your idea and plan for Haiti is to just hand things out to the "poor" and not try to help them provide for themselves by giving them job then the country will never move forward
