A mouse provides a lot more control and precision than an analog stick, and isn't limited to 2 combined axes. As for the screen, a PC doesn't have any limit on screen size (and neither does a PS3). You can plug your computer into a 72" screen and you can plug your PS3 into a 15" screen with the right adapter.
