had a 69 amx ,restored it,bought parts from dodge dealer in 1980's,most dealers couldn't be bothered,but one,I worked there years later,got me all the chrome,tail lights,bezels,etc,put a worked 401 with 727 torqflite, the driveshaft was only mod,had to shorten it.,blue with white stripes,went like hell,real sleeper.

thats a pretty mean gremlin you got there. nice car. are you happy with the 360? Im in the process of building one; just bought indy heads and diamond pistons, next comes a rollerized cam, it should do good

The 360 in My Gremlin thumps pretty good but a 390 or 401 is prob what I'm going for in the future.

I had a chance to build a 401 but decided to stick with the 360 because it was out of the car and to show poeple what a 360 is capable of.

Yeah you can build the 360 to handle almost anything. I have a buddy with a low 11 sec Spirit with a simple no frills recipe he built with his 360.Plus your starting to see the AMC V8's in more and more Jeeps and even hot rods nowadays.

yeah i have a 76 cj-5 that i put a 360 in out of a j-10 plow truck with about 70k on it. threw in an rv cam, 3 angled the valves along with mild port work on the heads, offy intake and hooker fenderwell headers; i tell you what, the thing just moves. with 3:54s and 33 inch tires, if you stomp on it in first and the tires grip, the front wheels come off the ground. the thing about AMC v8s is that they can breathe.

AMV heads are the best flowing ones out there.I forget either Dick Maskin or Dave Kanners of the "Maskin & Kanners" AMC Hornet fame started the "DART" company and learned from the AMC heads how to develop bad ass aftermarket heads for other engines. Oh and I've always wanted a CJ5.I had a 73 Gremlin shell that I wanted to mount on a rusty CJ5 that needed a new body but my plans fell through on that.

wow, i never knew that, that is good information. now i have more ammunition when i have to explain to chevy and ford guys why my AMC makes more power. I do some side work for my buddy at Alfano Performance in Kenosha and am working on a 74 gremlin x levi. were putting in the built up 258 i removed from my jeep a few years back. Eventually he's going to build a 360 for it though.

I know Nick Alfano, He's got a vicious friggin Jav AMX don't he? he's bought some stuff from me and he makes some wicked stuff for AMC's I've heard.

Yes he does, the motor is out of it at the moment because he repainted the block, ported out his indy heads, and put in a bigger roller cam. he thinks its going to make right around 650-700hp. He is doing a lot for the AMC aftermarket also. hes designing a sequential multiport fuel injection for V8s, has an awesome shaft rocker system, and is having heddman remake the hustlers with the 2inch primarys again.

had a 1969 AMX was 390 with go package, blue white stripes,401v8 727 with ATI 10 inch convertor,less ring gear.factory mags real clean,sleeper.Quick and fun,nice cars

Ok nice AMX buut since you have the classic slapper bars you need to put some Cragar S/S rims back on it and then lose the Ford scoop and put ya an SS AMX scoop on it. otherwise your AMX is one sweet ride.
