just listened to 'LOVE NEVER DIES' and 'THE HEART IS SLOW TO LEARN'. They have the same melody but the lyrics of 'the heart' is much more passionate! I think I prefer Kiri's version at this stage :)

--Still a beautiful melody, but the lyrics are generic. Except that the name of the show and the title and most repeated line in the song are the same, there is nothing specific to any situation or character in LND. It could be a song about love in general sung by anyone.

I used to love this woman because of her rich and diverse heritage. Now I found out that she was adopted and that she may be just another boring straight white person. It was even a nun (irrelevant or evil) that encouraged her to sing. That change of perspective is like going from the sublime to hearing the drone of Allahs farts. And dont tell me that it doesnt matter, that Kiri was at least brought up with Maori heritage--for once a boring white person, always a boring white person.

It''s written so that it's almost impossible to sing, forcing rough sounding changes from head voice to chest voice, something not usually heard from this great singer. Dame Kanawa you are so gracious and your voice is just as beautiful as you are. This is the most beautiful song sung so eloquently with so much feeling and emotion that It brings a deep sadness over me whenever I play it because it parallels my own lifes story.
