Enjoy your videos. We have Aldi stores in the UK. Many of the Aldi ranges are excellent, especially in these difficult economic times. Halved my shopping bill by going to Aldi! They have some fairly durable (if not high quality) non-food items too, useful for 'preppers'.
Just found your channel...Good stuff man, I love Aldi's i get 99% of my prepps there. For everyone bitch'n about aspartame and everything else , you wont give a F!@K after the collapse
How long are jugs of fruit juice like that good for? Seems like a great idea if it has a long shelf life. Nice thing is you don't have to refrigerate it until its open.
Excellent presentation - I am happy that I found you! Did not realize this about flouride in products, tho, until I saw the comment below -having enough problems with that in my tap water as it is!
Grapefruit juice is great, as long as you don't take certain medications. In my training we learned that it amplifies many drugs' potency, which can be extremely dangerous. Just a hint, since your family seems to drink quite a bit of it...
good stuff we have aldis here in australia too im stocking up on tin foods and water also flour and oats i also bought 60 packets of pasta at 69c a packet the checkout chic is like "wtf then she was like what ever lol" they just dont know whats coming (total financial melt down) keep up the storage man and look after your wonderful kids- good luck thanks for the vids
@rolficus HEY AUSSIE,GOOD TO KNOW YOU SEE WHATS COMIN ALSO,EVEN IF NOTHING HAPPENS ITS OBVIOUS FOOD GONNA DOUBLE SO YOU JUST SAVED $60 ON NOOODLES,I NEVER SEE ANYONE STROING FLOUR IN 5GAL BUCKETS,HAVE YOU.JUST CURIOUS AS FLOUR IS REAL IMPORTANT TO HAVE.
Apple juice now has printing on the container that says this apple juice is made from concentrate from Argentina/China. I don't, knowingly, buy my food, seeds etc from China.
Of course, you can't buy much made in America anymore, because the politicians give tax breaks to companies that send work overseas, but I try.
@kiwisoft Well, I hear you. But the best way to fuel your body is with real food. Vitamin C never occurs in nature by itself, only with the full spectrum of bioflavanoids and other micronutrients. Although I do agree that we need supplements, I think that they should be just that: a supplement to a diet of whole foods as much as possible. (That being said, you can see from the videos that I am the larger of the two brothers here, who thinks that Pizza and donuts are vitamins!) - Mike
In the summer we try to consume as many wild fruits and vegies we can. It is fun to go hunting for them and we enjoy eating them. But in the winter, we rely on bought fruits and vegies. I also have canned and dryed. Some I have dryed myself and we eat in the winter.
@katiatomsk I'd be interested to hear where you hunt for wild edibles and which ones you mean. I know that there is a lot you can do with cattails and acorns, but those are not much of a food source in the winter. (are you in the south, or a northern, frozen area like the Midwest?)
@Survive2Day GREAT CHANNEL,do your store flour,or oats,or macaroni,in 5gal pals.also what do u use shortning for besides deep frying if i may ask.i used it today for chicken wings instead of oil but the wings dont come out as crispy or good as they do with oil.thanks for taking your time to help others.
@18wheeler76 We have oil - it seems that the Olive Oil is not so great for long term storage.... We also do store oats, wheat (flour starts losing nutrition as soon as it is milled) and pasta.
@Msakaalbany We eat a lot of the canned Mandarin oranges. I have been watching for the price to increase, as this is a product from China. I am very surprised that the price has remained at $.49 for a long time (12 months or so).
I love Aldi's food. GREAT Value. For fruits and veggies, we dehydrate apples, bananas, pears and store with food saver. We did 103 apples over 2 nights.
@markedeloy It's a good time to be dehydrating. Apples have gone up from about $.99 / lb to $1.29 / lb in a very short time - and this is apple harvest time.... Part of the massive inflation that we are just seeing the beginning of. Do you dehydrate with the the skin on or do you peel them first?
Aldi sells a mixed dried berries package: cherries, blueberries, strawberries, and cranberries. Anytime you can buy a package with this many different kinds of foods, it's usually nutritionally superior to a single food. You're getting a wider variety of nutrients. Was at Aldi tonight and noticed that golden raisins are back. (I believe they are seasonal items like shortening, chopped walnuts and cocoa.) I bought 9 bags! Aldi is a great resource. Lots of common drug items as well. Thanks
@Survive2Day Usually, shortening is dated about a year out. However, the shelf life is much longer than that. Also, once I open shortening, especially if it's older, I store it in the refrigerator. It last a lot longer that way. It's still preferable to oil as a long term storage item. With that said, in my opinion, lard is even better still. (Sometimes called manteca.) It usually comes in a pail and last even longer than shortening. Oils are just too unstable to store long term.
I stored a lot of apple juice when I was new to food storage. For me, it was not a great option since I had limited space. Yes, it's cheap, but it's sugar (yes, natural sugar, but sugar nonetheless), and water. What it's sorely lacking is the fiber that will satisfy and fill the belly. Your dried fruit is a great option. (con't)
Fruits and veggies are a must! I like to dehydrate frozen fruits and veggies and seal in mylar bags. I also buy commercially freeze-dried or dehydrated fruits and veggies too. Remember that you can also sprout. Beans, legumes, grains and regular sprouting seeds are very important in our preps.
@71babyjay Yes, sprouting is definitely something we must know about. If there were an infrastructure collapse and we weren't able to get fresh produce at the grocery stores, sprouting would be a vital source of Vitamin C.
@smhutson Food in its raw state is always the best, I agree. However, you can store applejuice for a year or two, and you can't do that with raw apples. Even buying raw and dehydrating them is a lot more expensive, unfortunately...
Must be located in the middle of the country. I haven't seen an ALDIs since leaving Missouri. :D

That apple juice you bought has ASPERTAME, COLOR and nothing healthy,
SORRY to disappoint you.
garfield6767 10 months ago
@garfield6767 Does it say ASPERTAME anywhere on there? Not saying it doesn't have it but I've never seen it listed.
It does however contain some fluoride...as does most everything that is made with non purified water these days
silveristhefuture 10 months ago
@garfield6767 Not all juice brands contain ASPARTAME though...
if you know what's truly in lots of the stuff we eat/drink then you'd want to grow all the food yourself.
too bad cows can't even produce healthy food with the radioactive grass they are eating these days..
the world is truly fucked unless we fix that

We leave the skins on and just slice them, then quarter them. We do granny smiths and the skins give them a little extra bite. Good stuff.

@Survive2Day I peel mine first because they re-hydrate better for baking and the kids like them as apple chips.
