I think the Hermione vs Ron duel in the DA meeting would have been far more interesting if it was Hermione vs Harry. Ron and Hermione is funny and all but no one would doubt who was going to win. If Harry and Hermione faced each other viewers would wonder. Jo said in an interview that from fourth year onwards Harry would win that duel, so as long as the film makers knew that it would give a real sense of Harry's power increasing to see him trump the normally best student in his year.
