In the 80's, I watched a movie about a gymnast who was being coached by his overly demanding father. The girl was overweight and she needed to get in shape for a major competition. She had dark hair.
Does any body know which movie I am talking about? I would like to know the name of it.

This was a pretty lame movie apart from Janet Jones being smoking hot, and Alan Silvestri's underscore. I was *so* disappointed when my sister bought me the soundtrack album and there were only two tracks of his music, both of them synth pieces (none of the rousing orchestral stuff was included, alas). I was also disappointed with Janet's subsequent "Playboy" spread, but that's another story.
I liked them movie, but then again, I'm pretty lame too!! So it all works out! I get all pumped up in that final scene, and the announcer says "Joe.....Ellen....Carter!" hahahaha
It was incredibly lame. It did have a catchy rip-off pop song...from...a duran duran guy? Sounded just like powerstation. (not coincidently). Gaylord couldn't act his way out of a paper bag unfortunately.
My cousin Mark played "Danny Squire" in the movie. He had won the state (TX) our senior year (81, damn I feel old) and got a full scholarship to OU, where he and Bart Conner were roommates. That's how he wound up in the movie. It's a strange feeling to see a relative in a movie. Thank God for Janet Jones, because I couldn't stand to watch it without her in it. lol
God this is one of my fav films, I recorded it of the tele once, and watch it so much I wore it out, Now I cant find it on region 2 dvd anyway, anyone know where I may get it?

by far the best gymnastics movie...stick it and peaceful warrior are terribly directed, edited, and acted pieces of crap compared to american anthem.
