I have Cort-made Ibanez S470. It sounds good and plays great.
After seeing these video, I have to think and check more carefully on where the guitar is made before buying one. It makes me sick to see these videos with the guitar they made in my hands. Really really feel bad about it. (somehow it feels like playing blood diamond.)
I have a Cort guitar viva series since 12 years and it plays awesome !!!!! I would definitly buy a Cort guitar again !!! Look very good !! plays very well and the sound it just WOW !!!! Don't be afraid to buy a Cort guitar. They are really good !!!
I am very sorry I bought a Cort guitar. It was stupid of me to not look into the company first. Somehow I will find a away to rectify my mistake. I will not choose convince or price over the dignity and wellbeing of another human being. I would rather go without an instrument then have one made by person treated no better than a salve.
This is how cheap guitars are made... Fender, Ibanez, LTD, Epiphone are ALL into this... so what the common man should not buy cheap guitars?? No way can we afford the expensive models... this is the only way to get guitars for me!!
Think this is bad?Check out how the Behringer co. does it in the S. of China;they have a million square ft. complex in the middle of bfe and the people live, work and eat there and never make enough to leave;they live in small flats and this person does wiring the next may work with semiconductor's the next may work with wood etc.Assembly line, assembly work, assembly life=slave labor.I will never buy another Behringer product! This is why they sell so dirt cheap .German co. as well, don't figure eh
You Americans are overpricing your Fenders and Gibsons. So stop pointing fingers at others for your own misery. They are cheaper Asian made and good, sounds good.
We had guitar manufacturers over here in the USA. Fender, Gibson to name a few. Then the foreign companies came in and stole their designs and sold copies of these guitars in the USA for dirt cheap. Alot of our jobs over the years have gone overseas because of the lower wages. I don't think anyone stopped and said..wait!! American people are hurting, were taking there jobs. You've got the workers, find some investors and start your own place and quit waiting for the world to help. Not happning
I also have a Korean made guitar. A Crafter acoustic. It plays like a gem and i have it for years. How about that factory?? Are the their workers have it better than the Cort people??
Fuck you Cort you bastard! I'm gonna go burn my damn Corts now... wait that would just be wasting the hard work they put in to making the guitar, I'm gonna sand Corts damn Name off the headstock!!! I'm puting MY name on the headstock!
I think its the same condition working in factory in every country if you F-Up or not paying attention you're gonna get scolded..a Korean factory manager maybe more intensive passionate about the final product than in US..What happened if you scrwed up in Gibson or Fender ,PRS factory..those people will pet you in the back? These people are victums beccause their company knew its their only way of making a living.. Alot of these people are not born to make guitars..Good Luck to them
This isn't really shocking... It's just a part of mass production. How do you think they get the price to go so low? Minimum wage labor at bad working conditions is an industry standard nowadays.
Even expensive stuff are made this way. Apple computers and mobile devices are generally regarded as high quality, expensive products, but they are made in the same factory as HP and Dell stuff. And there's been 15 suicides in that factory THIS YEAR alone.
@northerncluster Man, all this Cort situation is really terrible. Anyway, Cort guitars are awesome!!!!!!! Don´t buy the Epi-crap. I hope things get better for the Cort workers.
I am a Schecter player. I love Schecter's guitars but after seeing this, I don't know what to think. Granted it's not Schecter's fault that my guitar was built by workers who were treated badly. It's Cor-Tek's. Brands such as Schecter, LTD/ESP, G&L, Ibanez, etc make great instruments that are ridiculously low price for what they are, but now I know why. Makes me wonder though if all these brands knew what Cor-Tek was doing to their workers.
I feel real sorry that the working conditions are so bad in Korea.
I didn't even know that the Cort guitars come from Korea.
I hope for your sake that it gets better !
Unfortunately, if the world stops buying Cort guitars, there will not be any work at all, but then maybe the management has to listen and make changes..
I'm a South Korean myself, and I believe that guitars shouldn't be made like this. I was considering on buying a Cort guitar when I visit Korea this spring break, but now that I see what is happening behind the scenes, I think this is something that should be solved as soon as possible. I feel like I should do something and use my own band to inform people about the management of Cort.
if you applied the same logic to everything, you wouldnt buy much....
how many off you assholes eat meat? Yeah, do you care about the suffering that livestock endure to be slaughtered and end up on your table? Especially since mans physiology is vegetarian (does not eat raw meat like a true carnivore).
Unnecessary, but you all eat meat without giving a fuck. And so, I will buy Cort guitars with giving a fuck too!
"the beautiful tones of the guitar throb with the crying and hot tears of a hundred workers who made the guitars"
lol
"the sublime sound of the Cort/Cor-tek guitar hides the act of violence, the employer pushing down the workers knowing that their lives are hanging in the balance. "
I feel for these workers. Unfortunately for them, whoever is trying to get the message out is doing a diabolical job. This is South Korea we're talking about... not the North.

I just love how during the scene where they're talking to the man on stage about his guitar, everyone is laughing about the mistreatment of the workers 2:15 - 3:00 I use Cort guitars almost exclusively, and I don't plan on changing that anytime soon. If anything, I'm proud of it, because I'm not letting these people's hard work go to waste. Cort makes fantastic guitars, I don't care what anyone says. Whether they're made with the tears of Indonesian laborers or not. You don't HAVE to work there!
Where did you get that idea dude? All you have to do is click my name and you'll see by the things I have up on my channel that I'm just an average Joe who likes well made guitars.
@dmanandcmac oh yeah? you seem more like the average asshole to me... fine, do you to buy guitars made in fear and feed an rich asian fuckface, go ahead man. me? i prefer to buy guitars made by companies that treat their workers with respect.
I love how I plop down money for a good guitar that plays well and does the job that I need it 2, so I buy more of them, and apparently that is a bad thing just because a dumb video on youtube that I found 3 years after buying the guitars said so. I'm not giving up good guitars just because some dumb video and some retard hippie activists tell me to. I shouldn't be crucified for playing a guitar, that's retarded. Also, idc what brand you buy from, that's not my prerogative.
I have Cort accoustic Earth series since 2002, and I am considering to buy Cort EVL K-6, but after finding out Cort labors' reality, I will do my best to inform everybody of this terrible attitude of Cort managment, and I will never buy Cort any more. God bless all the previous Cort labor in S.Korea.
That's a shame! Not only for the owner of the factory but for all of us doing nothing about this. Let's hope this is happening only in the CORT factory and not all Korean guitar factories. Cause in that case we have absolutely no reason for bying Korean guitars. I own 2 Korean guitars (Epiphone and Peavey and I'm not feeling very well about this...
