I love how people talk out of their ass's there isnt a chip available for the 3g eclispe first off. Catback exhaust doesnt do that much for a 3g Eclipse. And when these cars were compared back to back with the rsx-s the gts 6 spd celica and the Eclipse gt it was almost dead even with the eclipse pulling just a bit uptop due to the extra torque.

Car and Driver I think even had a listing for a GTS spyder running 15.2. Now if a convertible ran a 15.2 then obviously the coupe would be faster. But your an idiot if you dont think shifting causes lost time. Otherwise for 3g eclipse time check club3g they have a 1/4 section that shows what they can and have run stock!

But I've definitely surprised more than my fair share of RSXS's, V6 Mustang's, tC's, etc... of course, I debadged the GT, so most of them were expecting a riced out four-banger GS :P

@DOHCCordia Really depends on what you consider "a drivers race".....RSX-S will go high 14s/low 15s bone stock where as the Eclipse GT will only go mid 15s at best bone stock, so you're wrong about there being an edge to the Eclipse and if you disagree just go search dragtimes.

Btw my automatic 2.4 cobalt runs mid 15's with 30 less crank hp with a 4spd auto and weighing the same amount. So yes I disagree and you need to go do your homework.

@yonkersracing Odd I found Motor trend got a 15.3 out of a 2000 Eclipse GT and theres still the faster GTS model (higher compression better intake and better gearing). Car and Driver I think even had a listing for a GTS spyder running 15.2. Now if a convertible ran a 15.2 then obviously the coupe would be faster. But your an idiot if you dont think shifting causes lost time. Otherwise for 3g eclipse time check club3g they have a 1/4 section that shows what they can and have run stock!

It's all relative, you can post whatever numbers you want from message boards, the fact remains, stock for stock and mod for mod the RSX-S is the quicker car.

How would 2 cars weighing within about 100lbs of each other with similar hp (though one lacking in tq in comparison) both being manual transmissions be seperated by a half second in a race? Unless the Eclipse GT finishes the 1/4 mile in 3rd gear, you are shifting the same amount of times as the RSX-S to complete the 1/4 mile. The 6 speed just shortens the gears thus improves acceleration. Also check your inbox for a link on dragtimes to a 2000 Eclipse GT running 15.4 @ 90mph. Like I said, they run mid 15s...

Haha I understand lol. I own an '00 Fed Spec GT with I/H/E plus shocks/struts.... it's a 3G GT, meaning it's doomed to never be very fast lol. So I've done my best to keep it looking stock. But I've definitely surprised more than my fair share of RSXS's, V6 Mustang's, tC's, etc... of course, I debadged the GT, so most of them were expecting a riced out four-banger GS :P
