  • this show has over 6,000 episodes

  • The animation surpassed the drawn version?...quite impressive indeed..

Girl got it going on. You go girl with your bad self.

  • jesus, dont matter how deep in your heart this childish crap is. 6 THOUSAND EPISODES! who in gods name watched at least half of this!

  • this looks balls

  • whom ever says astro boy was first manga can go fuck them selfs.

  • @inechiSAN Astroboy was the first anime. Sazaesan was the first manga.

  • @Manafichu that what i typed.

  • @Manafichu

Manga existed for decades before Sazae-san. Just because it was racist, militaristic, sexist etc doesn't mean it didn't happen!

There's plenty of people in Britain who would like to pretend British comics from before 1976 never happened, I'd never have thought such an attitude would have actually gained purchase in Japan, a country that takes comics far more seriously.

  • VHS master race

  • i watched this growing up i miss it

  • i used to watch this since i was 4 years old in japan. apparently my parents used to watch it too. its great haha

  • @kirarintan Mostly because it hasn't stopped running SINCE 1969.

  • omg 6429+ episodes!!!!!!

  • very funny!

  • how long has this show aired

  • @boogynights the show? since 1969. The comic strip started back in 1949(ended back in 74) The anime series is still going and has 6000+ episodes

  • I have only heard of Sazae San through references in Gintama, but I can see why it is so popular. Those kids who think that Naruto, Macross Frontier, Fullmetal Alchemist, Dragon Ball, One Piece and the more recent Gundam Series should be the top. But a lot of the older shows like Sazae-san, Yamato, Bakabon, Kimba, the original Macross and Gundam have had a longer lasting fan base and have resonated so long for some reason or another.

  • You Naruto fans are funny. Sazaesan seems like a good reflection of Japanese culture.

Unlike a ninja who wears orange- where's he hiding, pumpkin land?

I tried Naruto out but gave up after he went against that guy early in the series who could multiply himself and throw a so called "deadly" needle at you and kill you. Naruto got hit so many times. It was stupid- he kept getting do-overs, where's the thrill in that- in letting the hero win so unfairly?

  • IT'S OVER 6000!!!

  • i looked on google for the longest anime and this has over 6429 episodes

  • When I see that opening I immediatel understand why this is so much popular... rest authors of comments must be really stupid -.-

  • saying naruto is better than sazae san is like sayin spongebob is better than the flinstones.

  • I'm a Naruto fan too but whoever put Naruto over a classic should get a beat-down.

-_- No matter what new shows that comes out in any country, they can't compare to the classics. Kids these days would never understand til they get older and their shows get cancelled. (btw i'm just 19 but I know my share of old shows as well)

  • lol, I would love to know the exact point when "japanese cartoons" turned into "anime", getting involved in all the fighting, epic battles, and the otaku stuff as a culture.

These kind of series looks so amazingly classic.

  • WTF? whatacrap is this?!

  • over 6000 ep wtf

  • amazingly long anime series. can you imagine anyone watching all the 6300+ episodes?

speaking of which, does anyone know where i can watch all the sazae chan episodes? im too lazy to look it up on google lol

  • i can believe this Lame ass anime (in my Opinion) its on top of all Anime's Ratings in Japan (NARUTO, ONE PIECE, BLEACH) C'mon really wats so cool about this Anime ??

  • @Zac2UzuMaKI

everything doesnt have to be cool.. it shows the good vaules of Japanese people in a simple way.. how extended families interacted and dealt with one another in their enviornment ,post war.. with a humorous approach.

  • @Zac2UzuMaKI well you just seem to like mainstream (atleast in our side of the world) anime, while there are people who cant stand you so called "cool" anime. its a matter of taste.

  • @Zac2UzuMaKI Naruto, One piece and Bleach are all pretty lame in my opinion. Be quiet.

  • @winterimperfect HEHEHEHE LMAO ROLF LOL nice one, u must be a Little girl or dude,

  • @winterimperfect WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT...

you can insult naruto, you can insult bleach, BUT NEVER EVER, PICK ON ONE PIECE >:O

    btw this animes awesome :D

  • omg my mother say me that she saw this anime when she was young!! :o

now i have 18 and i want see this anime :)

  • Classic! X]

  • This is the Japanese Equivalent of Charlie Brown (take it ant which way you will.)

  • I love how after she flies out of the clothing bin, she's like, "Great, now I must HULA to the finish line!"

  • Anyone know where I can watch all of the epsisodes??

  • 6500 caps OMFG O___o

  • Comment removed

  • OMG!! mas de 80,000 capitulos ya me imagino sazae-san capitulo 80,001 xDD

  • Sazae San has been around since the 50s, at each end of the episode, Sazae San would throw a bean in her mouth, and in 1990, a kid did it and choked, so they switched it to something else, and I would like it if I got the English manga

  • R.E insertcooluser

Well I'm a kid who likes Hayao Miyazaki films, and I'm still waitin to get Ponyo!

  • sazae is sexxxy

  • if i can remember this has over 2000 episodes

  • @DaMnUFo0 It has exactly 2031... its just amazing

  • @DaMnUFo0 6000 XD since '69 still a classic

  • @DaMnUFo0 Now it has 6335 episodes.

  • @laurigun1 jeez already that much LOL

  • did un know guys it have over 2k of episodes" : / lol

  • well of course duhh.

sazae-san is a very important series to the japanese people and its one of the very oldest animes.

  • Its the same reason that Family Circus is still in the funny papers in America. It's "traditionally Japanese" and middle-aged housewives and families can relate to it.

  • and why you think naruto, one piece or dragon ball have a high audience ? all the children watching it.

  • you understimate Sazae-san pal

besides, in Japan not all the animes like Naruto, Dragon Ball, One Piece because they´re popular get the highest raitings there (the magic girl concepts like Pretty Cure & Kirarin Revolution also rules there)

they´re popular, but Sazae-san is a long durable classic for japanese like Chibi Maruko Chan, Kochikame, Doraemon, Gegege no Kitaro, Crayon Shin Chan, etc.

Curious George is in the list, I´m amazed how the monkey got attention in Japan

  • @abrahamWCE i still can't beleave that this is in fact the most popular anime this could be on my boring dutch tv where we have only chaldish series on today and i woud't even have know it came from japan

  • @abrahamWCE

each week this has the highest rating for an anime, Also Sazae san has over 6000 episodes and is the longest anime and longest animation in the world.

  • @abrahamWCE

Yes. This is about a classic as Batman, Spiderman, Looney Toons and all the old cartoons.

  • @abrahamWCE Curious George is a great watchable series to watch any time.

Shin-chan's still rolling, though I don't like the new animation it didn't left its roots even tho the original author passed away, maybe it did left a bit, but it's Shinnosuke and his family, all right.

  • stfu.

sazae-san started back in the 40s and many people grew up watching it so it has a big importance to the japanese people so respect that

  • in the 40's?? isn't it more like 40 years ago in the late 60's? at least that's what i've heard

  • this is a classic anime.

and it will never leave the japanese peoples hearts.

    you dont understand.

    its not all about naruto.

  • Yeah so sick of all these kids watching Naruto, not having heard of Akira, or even Hayao Miyazaki and claiming to know all about anime.

  • @kirarintan

I know it will never leave their hearts it still ongoing with over 6000 episodes!

  • @VongolaXEspada this anime have only 1800 caps :)

  • @kirarintan People in America are only used to watch Naruto and Dragon Ball Z (Also DB Kai) plus a few other shows but nothing like Sazae-san, Doraemon, Kiteretsu, Kochikame, or the original Shin-chan.

Shin-chan wasn't just dubbed in US, they fucked it up by americanizing it and removing the originality it had to the American standards. Shame on you, FUNimation!

  • This is always the most viewed because every person in Japan watches it, every Sunday night. It also is a classic for many Japanese, like Doreamon, Shin-chan, and Chibi Maruko Chan.

Other popular shows include those aimed at an audience of girls, like Tamagotchi and Pretty Cure, while Naruto and Fullmetal are usually on the bottom of the list. One Piece is usually part of the top 5 shows.

Dora the Explorer was on the list. I'm surprised at how that kiddie show got attention in Japan.

  • longest animated show ever. 40 years. the manga came out 63 years ago though. heck I was thinking the simpsons might had been the longest running animated show with 20 years..but that's only US.

  • Because it's been around since 1946 and virtually everyone in Japan know it.

  • 6000+... actually

    saludos

  • aww, se ve tan inocente!!

  • read andante!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love that they used their own style to the animation and drawing, instead to copying the traditional style.

  • Well for one thing the series is well over 50 years old.

  • wow, even when its an unusual style you can usualy tell apart anime from cartoon by the artwork but this style looks like something from the regular newspaper comics

  • the japanese knows this anime without fail.

    masterpiece.

  • Wikipedia says that this airs every Sunday, almost like a Japanese Simpsons in terms of time slot and regularity. It's something good to depend on on an early Sunday night, yeah? Then it's the later shows, an early bed time, and off to start a fresh week tomorrow. Sounds pretty nice to me.

  • Oh my god! I remember watching this as a kid ^^ it brings back so many good memories along with Chibi Maruko, Doraemon, Shin-chan and Anpanman.

  • why?

  • this is japanese animation called by Sazaesan. This animation the most famous in Japan

  • The most famous......im in despair. -_-

  • Why are you in despair? :o

  • what is this?

  • is there english dub or subtitle of this?

  • Y de que trata este anime?

  • affff, q lixo

  • this is no.1 rating of anime in japan

    no.2 are Chibi Maruko-chan no.3 Crayon Shin-chan no.4 Doraemon no.5 Detective conan no.6 Onepeice

  • Osakana kuwaeta doraneko okkakete

  • this thing has been the most-watched anime in japan for ages

  • This ran for so many years they mustve changed the opening sequence periodically because I was in Japan from 75-79 and this was not the opening we watched. Thanks for posting OMG! Never thought I'd see it again

  • this first aired in 1969 .___. almost 40 years!

  • i love sazae san the comics are the best

  • I find teh opening a tad bit screwed up because the show is from Japan and it sees like it takes place in Hawaii.

  • this has been running longer than the Simpsons

  • wouldn't mind catching some of this show sometime, It's would be a massive undertaking to watch it all though what with 1700+ episode and such...lmao
