1966-Pete sang & played guitar & banjo on the "gym floor corner" of my Detroit elementary school (Pasteur) -kids stood right up around him. I was 8 yrs & wondered- what will this older man sing? (just in his 40's). What Energy, Passion, Talent , Fun! He sang Puff the Magic Dragon, Bo Didley, Where have the Flowers Gone-the popular "folk songs" of the 60's.  We loved it ! (black & white kids) - as the civil rights riots were going on..
