Gaara could have never won this fight. If you've seen the whole fight, you'll see that when Lee used the secondary lotus on Gaara, he paused for a slight second in pain. Gaara used this opportunity to switch to his sand armor. If Lee hadn't paused in pain, he would've won the fight. Gaara didn't have a chance, he simply won by luck.

Gaara's barely a ninja anyway! He survives merely off of sand that he doesn't even control.

Gaara's a freak, and a prick who can't even throw a punch, much less a Kunai or Shuriken. He's barely what anyone would call a ninja at all. Lee's the opposite completely and is clearly the greatest characer on the show. Besides, Gaara was lucky to have his gourd turned into sand at the VERY LAST SECOND. He only SURVIVED cuz of it.

Sorry, but in all reality Lee lost, not even harming Gaara, but instead destroying his own muscles. If you read the manga, you will see more clearly how Gaara fucked up Lee, without really attacking him. His ultimate defense is too much for Lee.
