  • so deliciously depressing, love it

  • 3 persons have no sense on love and hate...

  • ilk kez onyedisinde bir nevi radyo programında dinlediğim parça. çok şey söylemek isterdim.nasılsa beceremiycem. boşver gitsin..

  • I believe that this song accompanies me since about 40 years. I find it back because it finds me back at the bottom of what I am: volunteer for the wandering, ready to leave. I believe that we are many to follow it with our heart as these " Sisters of Mercy" which will eventually find us too.?

  • @Lucberthier i feel the same !!!!

  • I love u leni, and I love her. Thank u my brother n killer.

  • Double the heaven, putting poetry to such music.

  • there r some guys all the time who bring enomous moving, touching, emotional, whatever, words to us,without them, how can i be alive.always can't figure what words, pics and sort of things to tell how i feel nd love them.here is damien, leonard

  • this is how you change a sad feeling into a brand new one

  • possibly one of the best lyrics ever written xx

  • Maestro Cohen, you are one and only. Thank you for the music.

  • On this day two years ago I almost got back my blue raincoat.

  • very few modern songwriters have been true poets, intact perhaps the only others I can think of are Bob Dylan and Jim Morrison, and Cohen seems to have (for me anyway) the best of the pair of them. like most people of my age(21) I found Cohen through Jeff Buckley and the world of Cohen opened up and I realised that I had found a musical 'home'.

  • Anyone with history will know what's going on here. Cohen can make the cruel beautiful.

  • @Gardlen it's beautiful because it's not bitter.

  • Mr. Cohen takes us by the hand...no, by our hearts... & leads us on a journey like no other~~~~

  • Cohen's pieces are pure poetry. I especially love this piece.

  • I love this song. Been playing it I think since the later 70s. Nobody does it like Leonard, the moanings in the background. All the subtle instruments. etc. I saw him in Cleveland in about '74, at the 'Slippery Dog Saloon'. He had been playing in Mental Hospitals for 3 years. He said they were the only ones who understood his music. He influenced my songs. I played at a place also (barred). Man, these people understood me. They spoke some very deep insights. It was a thing of common good. Amen

  • Simplemente MARAVILLOSA

  • He is a master song-writer and story-teller. His pain and suffering comes through in his songs. Luv the guy !

  • awesome song by an amazing guy, almost compares to townes van zandt

  • such a great dude..i love him

  • "what can I tell you my brother, my killer, what can I possibly say"

  • One of the best songs by one of the best songwriters.

  • Thx for uploading this great song and the tribute video for a great artist. Leonard's lyrics are real poems. !!!!

I added this video as a favourit to my channel.

  • I cant believe how old this man is looking. The young rebelious speaker of the people... looks like an old man I would pass in the street. Live forever Mr Cohen, as I could not be without you.

  • @caroljoelucy "Oh the last time we saw you, you looked so much older. Your famous blue raincoat was torn at the shoulder." Perfect poetry.

  • This is the High Priest of Song....I worship at his temple.....

"The last time we saw you, you looked so much older

Your famous blue raincoat was torn at the shoulder......."

  • zooooooo moooooooi!!!

  • una de las cansiones mas bonitas.

  • @yayayaor me too man....me to..

  • ♪♫♥ !

  • Welschmertz for all...

  • Unbearably beautiful...

  • This song helped save my life 6 years ago today. It still holds so very many memories for me, it's so beautifully sad.

  • I plan to go clear.

Oh how I love this mas so. <3

  • someone could write a book or make a movie just out of this song... there is just so many layers. haunting.

  • its despair and misery haunts me.

  • This video was beautifully done.

Just like the sadness of this song.

  • There is a story that may go with the Famous Blue Raincoat with the tear at the shoulder. Crossing borders is hazardousness for actors and writers...right? For example, if one crosses with an expensive ring...the ring can be confiscated by the American customs if one does not have a receipt for all the items on one's person. Several times, Jennifer Warnes was detained at borders & US courts for stealing new bras. "Oh, I don't think so. I don't wear new underwear when travelling in the US.

  • The walls look alive. The only other time I can remember this happening during a reel is with the song, "Brother Won't you Spare a Dime," as sung by FBI agent Annie Fields. It doesn't mean anything. It is just strange cause I thought that was a dayroom rented periodically by Annie Fields under alias names when she was studying a case. Hmmm?

It's a great vid cause when I look at it, I'm studying faces like cards in a deck...Leo Senior? Leo Junior? Al Pachino? Dustin Hoffman? His brother?

  • The lyrics are just beyond beautiful.

There's no words to describe how accurate and perfectly touching these lyrics are.

    Haunting.

  • What a great song...so haunting...can't stop listening.

    Beautiful slideshow too.

    Thanks for posting.

  • Hana, upam da ti je všeč.

  • :) mhm lepa je... hvala

  • thanks let me litsen so long time ago music fantastic

  • so beautiful music music

  • I just love this song. Going to his concert in Helsinki.. last tour

  • Words can never describe the intensity in the lyrics to this song nor truly sum them up. Like so many more of Leonard Cohen's songs, Famous Blue Raincoat works in the same way a poem does. It speaks, deep and/or subliminal imagery that works on the emotions, mind and sentiments of the appreciator differently as the years go by. I love this man's writing and his musicianship, his directorial strengths often inspire me and he just gets better and better with age.

  • @upstatelugh he is a poet

  • @asiswhereis31 Not just a poet my friend, the poet :)

  • Not that it matters much but I had wanted to make SirHonI's comment as being PaintedBirdIII. Source is the same though ;O)

  • To be brutally honest I did not like it much at first. Not sure why. Maybe the images did not match with what I used to have in mind listening to this song. But I watched it a second time. And watched it a third time. I love it. Both song as slideshow. They combined create a 'new' memory. So unbelievably much more as the usual average here on YouTube. And SilentYells is right of course, beautiful audio quality. And a sweet use of pictures. Thanx Bernhard ;O)

  • Nice peacefull music!
