I'm watching this to get an idea of what the Shogun v Jones fight will be like, and I think what will make the difference in the end is the Shogun's BJJ. As much as he has to work on his takedown defense, he can put up an offensive onslaught that is just kind of challenging to counter. That means Jones will be spending a lot of time back-peddling, and it seems like once Rua has a grasp on the momentum, he is challenging to shake.

You're mistaken. Ortiz tried to take him down, but he always found himself with Machida on top of him instead. Machida actually grabbed a hold of him and tripped/threw him down to the mat at one point. I think Rampage might have taken Machida down, but I'm not certain.

Shogun's fast but he's not fast enough but I guess we'll see at UFC 126 because if anyone's fast enough & powerful enough to beat Silva, it's Vitor. His wrestling and takedown defense is terrible but his submissions and BJJ skills are up with the Guru's of the sport. His BJJ is much better than Andersons and up there with the noguiera's, and close to a Demian Maia or Fabricio Werdum level jiu jitsu. Check out some of pride fights. I think that's shogun's few ways to beat Jon Jones. Jones can get caught but otherwise it's all bones in that fight

I bring up his BJJ because make no mistake, Jones will take him down and take him down at will. Shogun really needed to improve his takedown defense before surgery, I think it'll be very difficult for him to stop jones from taking him down. a biased highlight for Machida could be made as well. When you use a lot of highlights from the 4th and 5th, specifically the 5th, which are the two Lyoto clearly lost, it really makes it seem like Shogun won. It was an insanely close fight, and Shogun settled the score at 113, but Lyoto won the first fight.

I personally thought after the fight thought Machida came out the winner. And I stand that. Everyone who watched the fight knows that it was a close call but everyone thinks it was a "decisive" win for Shogun after the stats came out. Its all bullshit, you gotta call it as you see it. Not change your opinion way after the fight ended.

@ARandomCanadian ....n as far as fedor goes, most ppl lost interst in fedor since apparent dodge from the ufc, im not sayin he isnt talented but y da hell would he sign with strikeforce instead of ufc, u even said urself how dissapointing is was 4 hendo losing to jake sheilds. the money was not an issue, dana white offered fedor a SHITLOAD of money and an immediate title shot, n das not even counting the ppv money millions of ppl would pay to see him fight for the belt,......

@blakTiGGeRXXX You make ALOT more money when you co-host an event rather than just fighting in it. Fedor still makes 400,000$ at strikeforce, the same that he would in UFC without the money that M-1 Global is bringing him.

@ARandomCanadian n right now that wont happen cuz he gunna fight chel sonnen in july, n den after sonnen he's fight vitor belfort
if he defends his title against those two( n actually fight) then the possibility of him movin up n dwn n paricipating in fights like dat is possible, but u make it seem like silva hand picks his fighters, SILVA DONT HAND PICKS HIS FIGHTERS, DANA WHITE PICKS WHO THEY FIGHT, if dana wants him to fight shogun it will happen, if he wants him to fight machida or w/e....
