Wow, 20 year old quotes on Romney. If you went back 20 years on Reagan before he ran for president you would find a pro-choice, Union stooge democrat who never ran anything in his life but a Union. Reagan learned. Romney learned.
@cavetrollhead Last time I checked 1994 was 18 years ago and Williard Romney was 47 years old at the time, He claims that he wasn't even a Republican during the most significant Republican President in the 20th Century and disparaged the Gingrich take over of the house. Reagan was the President of the Screen Actors Guild If you go back 20 years from Reagan's first campaign in 1967 he was an actor and a spokeman for GE with a highly evolved political consciousness and well read.
@RufusChoate11 A spokesman? Reagan was a democrat until age 50. He signed into law a huge expansion of abortion rights. Romney vetoed expansion of abortion rights. Romney lowered tax rates in Ma. Reagan raised tax rates in Ca. Romney is better than Reagan.

OLD FART RON PAUL WILL SELL USA TO CHINA HE HAS NO RESPECT 4 THE GOVERNMENT!
No, Romney is actually more conservative than Reagan on the issues.. Case in point #1) Romney will not give amnesty to illegal aliens... #2) He won't raise taxes 7 out of his 8 years in office as Reagan did... and #3) He won't create a new department in the federal government with over 60,000 employees.. and #4) He will not spend more than the government brings in.... You shouldn't put quotes on Youtube that are out of context...
Romney left the GOP during the Reagan Presidency, disgusted at Reagan's conservatism, Mitt supported democrats, fund raised democrat, and joined the GOP again in 1993, doing Planned parenthood fundraisers as late as 1994.
Mitt's father ran as the antiwar Presidential candidate against Reagan in 1968.
Mitt was living in France avoiding the draft during that election.
Out-of-context nonsense. They're good men, but the candidates before us today are no more fit for the issues of the presidency than Obama was. Romney still has the "intelligence" vote, and America will get what it votes for.
All these liars (Bush 41, Dole, Bush 43, McCain) say they are the next Reagan then they get the nomination or win election and are shown to be wolves in sheep clothing. Happens every 4 years.
@LineMountain Even Reagan was not the next Reagan - what I mean is he raised taxes many times, ran up govt spending, grew the govt, made peace treaties with his enemies, dealt with terrorists, did not ban abortion, banned guns, etc.
Where is the context??? When did this happen? What was the question that he was answering? These are fundamental questions that people should be asking.
Maybe to most people this doesn't matter, but to me this six second clip gives no insight into who Romney is.
My mind is not made on up on whether I like him or not, but this video is more like a hit piece than anything substantial.
@Cfalter Perhaps if you'd watch the other 24 videos on this channel you could begin to develop a bit of an "insight into who Romney is"... Worth a shot.
He was in a HUGE rush to get to Nancy Reagan after the debate at the Reagan Library!. If he could get any support by using the Reagan name fine! If he thinks by throwing the name under the bus gets him goodwill well then he will!
Yes Reagan was a nationally known conservative that left the democrats in 1962. That was before the Vietnam war, Roe /Wade, pro/life movement, the Reagan Revolution, the fall of the USSR, Desert Storm, the Gingrich Revolution, etc.
Romney stayed liberal until it was time to change for the 2008 election. Reagan was never liberal, even as an anticommunist union head testifying in 1947, back when conservatives could also be democrats.
Reagan was quoted as saying, "I didn't leave the Democratic party - the Democratic party left me."
Romney is much too wishy-washy and is not firm in his political beliefs. Unfortunately, Romney epitomizes the typical politician in that he will say and do whatever necessary to get elected.
I don't agree with braddy33. Romney isn't Reagan. But let's not whitewash history.
Reagan stayed loyal to the Democrats through The New Deal, Keynesianism & the Supreme Court being stacked with liberals. He was in his 50's in 1962, so youthful indiscretion is no excuse.
Hubert H. Humphrey was a staunch anti-communist, too. Would you argue that he was conservative?
Most Democrats were anti-Communist at that time. That certainly cannot be said today.
However, with regard to Reagan, I think he more than proved his true beliefs during his two-terms as President. He certainly didn't follow the Democratic-line during his Presidency and many of those anti-Communist Democrats from the 1960s' began to rethink this belief and became more sympathetic toward some of these dictators and argued against a strong national defense and US intervention.
No, I do not agree with your point at all. Yes, Reagan was a Democrat at one time. However, Reagan stated that he didn't leave the party, the party left him.
Many people are leaving the RNC, thus why the "independent vote" grows with each election. People like Romney and other RINOs' are the reason for this and as long as the RNC proceeds with this ' big tent ' strategy many current Republicans will also choose to go independent.
I'd like for him to work with McCain or Obama, whoever wins the election, on the economy. Overall I don't care for him, but he is Mr Fix-It. I think he could really help the economy.
ya true romney was a flip floper...and more successful then i will ever be. He has no doubt accomplished a lot. But he should have been more honest. He should just said I will run U.S like a business, i dont care about liberal or conservative.
Just vote for Mccain my friends, we must win this election. John is ok on most issues. Its either Mccain , Obama Bin Laden, or Hillary. Which would you prefer?
This video makes it clear that 'Slick' Romney indeed disliked Ronald Reagan's policies when Reagan was President and continued to dislike them after Reagan left office in 1988. This video from 1994 shows how Romney felt about the Reagan years. Funny, now that Romney is running for President as a Republican in 2008, he suddenly becomes a fan of Reagan. What a political opportunist. The man is a phony who cannot be trusted.
@HardforJesus ...the Republican party uses Reagan as their "Jesus"...and they continue to follow in the way Reagan ran things...trickle down economics
