You can find various rankings about this controversial topic that highly depends on which factor you emphasize the most. There is no a certain answer.Generally, numerous factors are needed to determine danger:fangs effectiveness, temperament, venom toxicity and dose, attack abilities, etc king cobra, black mamba, coastal taipan,Terciopelo, puff adder, eastern diamondback,saw-scaled viper,Russell's viper, several Najas, etc are regarded as highly dangerous. The most dangerous for you may be the one that bit u
I meant: glad you listed the Gabon (Gaboon) viper, because it's often igored. Some victims look like chainsaw massacre victims just because the toxin destroys blood platlettes and you start bleeding out of every orifice, including the bit area..
By "America" I suppose you mean the United States. "South and Central America" does NOT include Mexico, and so you are incorrect about the Eastern Diamondback. There are plenty of rattlers in Mexico much worse AND the bushmaster in the south and other godawful suckers. You need inland taipan and black mamba on this list and, I think others people ignore. The viper from Gabon kills many, and deaths aren't recorded, for example.
If this list of dangerous snakes is based on fatal bites per year, then where's the black mamba on this list? It kills thousands of people each year in Africa.
If we merely consider the fatalities caused each year, that should be the Saw-scaled viper and Russell's viper. In Africa, the puff adder causes the most deaths.Mamba bites are not many compared with several other species, though they are highly dangerous. They seek to avoid confrontation if possible. The no.of deaths caused can also be affected by snake distribution, style and other factors.
By the way the terms most deadly and most venomous are often confused. Death rates are largely determined and influenced by the human-snake living situation. Many Africans and Asians die because they live in these bush areas, no shoes, poor medical availability etc. I can assure u that if there were eastern brown snakes in china we would pay a lot more for rice. And never mind trying to find a photo of a fierce snake bite - here's one. + (that's a cross in the ground).
Wow it's painful to watch this rubbish and read yr comments. Here are the facts: most venomous snake is the sea snake - 1 bite and u r dead - but it's fangs are very small so it can barely puncture human flesh. Most venomous land snake in the world is the inland taipan or 'fierce' snake (actually very shy unless heavily provoked) found inland north east Australia. 2nd most venomous is Australian eastern brown snake - (very aggressive). 3rd is taipan. Australia has 7-8 of the worlds top 10 most
I believe the Bushmaster (lachesis muta muta) is somewhat more venomous than the fer de lance or lance head. The bushmasters venom is higher in toxicity and average yeld is between 200 and 500 ml.. It is also known to be a more agressive snake. As it will strike hands or feet in a feeding response. This is due to mistaken prey identification.
89stucka, you are also incorrect, the worlds deadliest snake is the Inland Tipan, besides the sea snake is responsible for no more than 2 deaths a year...
89stucka, you are also incorrect, the worlds deadliest snake is the Inland Tipan, besids the sea snake is responsible for no more than 2 deaths a year...
considiring this is most dangerous snakes shudnt mamba be there it, its nr2 on most bites recorded (cobra is first ) and most ppl bitten by it die so mambas shudve been there
Why the fuck does everyone think the taipan is so deadly? First of all, the Inland Taipan is the world's most venomous land snake but not the most venomous snake. That would be Hydrophis belcheri. Secondly, there is no recorded deaths from the Inland Taipan so how can it be deadly?? The deadliest snakes live in India. They are the big four. Saw-scaled viper, Indian cobra, Russell's viper and the common krait. The saw-scaled viper and Indian cobra kill more people a year then any other snake.
@ChelseaGrinislife The LD50 puts the Inland Taipan the most toxic land snake drop for drop. This test is done on mice so how the venom would affect a human is uncertain. Australians love to over hype their snakes even though snakes in Australia only cause an average of 2-4 fatalities per year. There have been no recorded deaths caused by the Inland Taipan. Asia and Africa in comparison have thousands of snake bite fatalities per year.
@MrGhod That is exactly what I said. Yes, I know that the Taipan is the worlds most venomous land snake. The snakes that cause the most deaths are the saw-scaled viper and the Indian cobra. Australia has good access to antivenom..... India doesn't. That is the difference.
The fierce snake is also referred to as the small scaled snake and is the most venomous. The Taipan is 2nd although the Taipan is more widespread and more aggresive. This list is not accurate as the brown, the king brown, the death adder, gwadar, copperhead, rough scaled, black snake are not included nor is the fierce snake which is number 1. Also there are 4 diffirent species of brown snake in Australia all of them are higher than the snakes u have here except Taipan
uhm. Rattlesnake? really. I think you will find if you research a list of most venomous snakes, most aggresive, most commonly found, fang length and type of toxins. You will find the large majority of this list is incorrect. Out of the top 20 most dangerous snakes in the world of the top of my head 14 of them are from Australia. Snakes like the brown, death adder, king brown, tiger, rough scaled etc. The most venomous snake in the world ( landsnake) is the Fierce snake
If you are talking about deadliest snakes not the ones that cause the most deaths this video needs to be redone. It is simply far to inaccurate. This video has not included some snakes that should be on here while they are being replaced by snakes that are on here
these are not the worlds most dangerous snakes. the brown snake is the world's 2 venomous and dangerous snake and also in the lineup is the inland tipan. refer to leoapp1223 video of the world's most dangerous snakes. No way that this lineup is correct.
no certain. Eastern brown is among one of the most dangerous snakes but may not be no.2. Many species have the same danger level if you overall all the consideration
I know what I am talking about too. I am not arguing the toxicity, yes based on LD50, the eastern brown snake is no.2 venomous, but about the danger, it may not be no.2, if we overall all the considerations, some other species have same danger level.
@marlin187 I have done my research and I have been to places that carry all of these venomous snakes and they have discussed their venom and if you show me your sources then I can have a better time believing you.
@marlin187 Hahaha. You think a Tiger snake is the most venomous snake?? Wow. You need to read some more. The most venomous snake in the world is Hydrophis belcheri. The most venomous land snake is the Fierce snake or Inland Taipan. The most dangerous snake in the world is a tie between the Saw-scaled Viper and the Indian Cobra, depending on what region in India you are in. I think the Tiger snake is number 8 out of 10 for the top ten most venomous snakes in the world. Go do some research.
@marlin187 The world's most dangerous snakes live in India and they are called the Big Four. They are the Saw-Scaled Viper, Russel's Viper, Common Krait and Indian Cobra. Together they bite over 250,000 people a year and kill over 50,000 a year. The world's most venomous snakes live in Australia and in Pacific Ocean. Sea snakes are the most venomous but they aren't really dangerous because they are shy and rarely come into contact with people. The Inland Taipan is the most venomous.....
@marlin187 land snake in the world but it isn't considered dangerous because it rarely comes into contact with people, it is shy and non-aggressive and it has never killed anyone but the Coastal Taipan has. The Saw-Scaled Viper on the other hand lives close to people, is extremely aggressive, has a horrible hemotoxic venom and around 20% of all bites are fatal. It is considered the world's most dangerous snake. Like I said, go do some more research their buddy. Science doesn't lie.
@LegoRanger105 I don't believe in hiding or censoring Education. People need to see that wild animals can (and do) cause serious harm to people. The "Animal Planet" portrayal of animals being warm and fuzzy, friendly forest creatures; only gets misguided Children and Adults Hurt (or killed) when they enter the real world.
@spiritwindbelize it is not really true what you are saying... of course these snakes are not friendly if you catch them, but they also dont attack, if they have no reason to attack... they are totally not that aggressive as they show it on tv.... and showing pics like that is for me leike "oh hell look what these beast can do, these animals are dangerous and kill ppl" but in reality they just defend them self...
@Armyscout111 King Cobras are very predictable. Anyone familiar with their habits can be around them with relative "safety", as long as they pay close attention to the snakes reactions.
yes, same as the other species. But each indiviual snake has exclusive temperament, some are relatively shyer while some are really crazy! The king cobra has high attack ability. The attack range is long.
@Armyscout111 because he and the ophiophagus hannah are close buddy's :)
well seriously its what spiritwindbelize says they can be predictable and when their attention is drawn to e.a the owner or the one thats gonna catch him its relatively safe to stand around him.
@Armyscout111 King Cobra's are considered to be the smartest of all snakes. Many reptile caretakers in the zoo's. Tell stories of older King Cobras interjecting themselves between new cobras and keepers. To insure the keeper is safe.
I think predictable or not is subjective. If you are familiar with a species, you will be more able to have a clsoer approach, although their abilities shouldn't be underestimated. Those people have worked with cobras and king cobras and many of the snakes have been kept in captivity for a certain time.
@suba1234 I am very familiar with this snake on a personal level, and find them fascinating but very deadly reptiles. However NO ONE said it is "their fault" when they strike. Few animals intentionally attack humans, without provocation. But this video is presented as BOTH education and ENTERTAINMENT. Terminology used is presented in that context.
@spiritwindbelize I am aware of that. Didn't say I didn't like the video though. I lived in South Africa once upon a time and I was fascinated by these creature too. The Mambas, Cobras and so on. Still, we snake lovers tend to be a little sensitive about the epithets used for these beautiful, misunderstood animals. Interestingly, I thought the Aussie Brown snake was deadliest. Peace.
@suba1234 You are absolutely right. The saw-scaled viper is recognized as the most dangerous snake in the world. They have just horrible hematoxic venom, it is extremely aggressive and quick to strike. On the other hand, you have Hydrophis belcheri...Faint Banded Sea snake. It is the world's most venomous snake, but is it dangerous?? No. It has never killed anyone. Just like the Inland Taipan A.K.A Fierce snake. It is the world's most venomous land snake, but it isn't dangerous. It is shy and...
@88Tdwp we also have the yellow and black sea snake, venom potently myotoxic but never any bites. There aren't that many deadly venomous snakes in SA, only about 14, but still, I would not tangle with a Black Mamba or a Puff Adder, or any one of the cobras over there. The Cape Cobra is a particularly dangerous snake, whose neurotoxic venom is similar to that of the Black Mamba, numerous fatalities in the rural parts each year. I still love snakes, though. They're beautiful.
@suba1234 Oh yes the infamous boomslang. It is a opisthoglyphous colubrid. No one thought it was dangerous until it killed a young herpetologist. Yeah any sea snake will be extremely venomous. They have to be, for when they bite their prey they can't afford for it to swim away and the snake not find it. That would result in a loss of venom and prey. Snakes are such beautiful and amazing creatures. I have been keeping them since I was 6 years old. Mostly colubrids and pythons and boas.
@88Tdwp you certainly seem to know quite a bit about them too. I have never had the pleasure of having my own biological specimens at home, so you're very lucky to have them. Interesting point you made about the Sea Snake and its venom. I think this must be the case with the Boomslang and Twig snakes - those birds mustn't be able to fly off. On that point, yet another myth bebunked about those two having to "hook" on to envenomate... What colubrids do you keep?
@suba1234 Well for the Boomslangs and Twig snakes, I do believe that they have to grab and hold on. When they bite, they have to chew so the rear back fangs can channel venom into the wound. As for the Colubrids that I keep right now... I currently have no species of snakes because my Fiance is terrified of snakes lol. I have had Kingsnakes, Cornsnakes, Ratsnakes, Carpet Pythons, Macklot's Pythons, Red-tailed Boa's, Hognose snakes, and a few other species. I plan on getting snakes in the near
@suba1234 future though and I plan on getting some Jungle Carpet Pythons, Blood Pythons, a spider Ball Python, a Piebald Ball Python and some Albino Boas. That is the species that I hope to get in about a year and I am going to start with Morelia spilota cheynei. Morelia species are my fav. species of snakes.
@suba1234 it has never killed anyone. People will always argue over who is right and so on. In my opinion, India has the most dangerous snakes and Australia has the most venomous snakes. Australia has the most venomous everything lol.
@88Tdwp Yes, it's all very interesting. I remember a small snake in South Africa, a back-fanged haemotoxic snake called the Boomslang. The most venomous snake on the African continent, requiring a microscopic amount of venom to make you bleed to death internally thanks to its strong anti-coagulant venom. It's a shy little snake that's only kills about three or four people in decades, usually snake handlers who underestimate its ability to strike.
@Evilspoofauthor. I am sure that you are mistaken my friend. The Inland Taipan A.K.A. has never killed anyone. It is also no longer the most venomous snake in the world, Hydrophis belcheri is. And also a eyelash palm viper??? Seriously .That snake is venomous but should not be on this list so I don't know what kind of books you have been reading but here on earth we check our references before we make comments. As for the deadliest snakes, that would be the big four of India.
Many people get the terms mixed up, when saying deadliest snake, most venomous snake, etc.. Some tiltles depend on the LD -50 chart, and some because of the amount of deaths per year related to a certain species.According the venom the MV snake is the Inland Taipan or beacked sea snake/deadliest is the Russell's Viper, from my studies -The worst snake bite in the world, is yours when you get bit! ~Lee
@spiritwindbelize -Thanks for your kind words, and I also wanted to add that as our knowledge and statistics change so will the snakes number on the list. I think the point I wanted to get across is that to many will debate & fuss, until they turn blue about this topic, when we can't really have a dogmatic stance on any order, because to many variables come into play! Best Wishes &Thanks, ~Lee
Actually, the snakes accounting for the most deaths, acc to the books I've read are as follows; African Puff Adder, Comon Cobra or Indian Cobra, The Fer de Lance, the Eyelash Palm Pit Viper, the Inland Taipan, the Austrailian TigerSnake, the Common Krait, and the Black Mamba.
@EvilSpoofAuthor: Don't know what books or where they got their data, but we stand by our presentation. Some of the snakes you mention, though very venomous (i.e. Taipan) bite very few people. The Eyelash viper should not be in the list at all. More human deaths are caused by the Carpet (saw-scale) Viper than any other snake. It is SMALL, VERY COMMON over a WIDE RANGE and often lives in human habitations. Though it's bite does not kill quickly...it DOES KILL almost 100% of the time.
Western rattlesnakes are the best. I saw a bunch of them in Hell's Canyon on the Oregon/Idaho border. Nothing but steep hills, rocks, warm sunlight and rattlesnakes. They blend in there but they're considerate enough to mention where they are so you don't step on them. don't step on them. Not much danger, just a bunch of cool snakes. The dangerous thing about that place is bears. It may not be most venomous, and what the hell does "most venomous" even mean, but it's definitely the coolest.
The cottonmouth is not more deadly than an Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake. Anyways the most venomous snake in the u.s is the coral snake not the rattlesnake or cottonmouth. The coral snake is a elapid and it is related to the cobras. And the worlds most venomous land snake is the Inland taipan A.K.A the Fierce snake. It has enough venom in one bite to kill 250,000 mice or 62 humans. The most venomous snakes though are the sea snakes.
@88Tdwp....This survey is based upon the MOST HUMAN FATALITIES.....not potency of the venom. The secretive Coral Snake's Venom is designed to immobilize small snakes and lizards. Few people are bitten by Coral Snakes, and MOST survive without major complication. Therefore the large and aggressive Diamondback Rattlesnake is BY FAR the most dangerous snake in North America.
no... The Hydrophis Belcheri Sea Snake is the most venomous in the world It is 100 times more venomous than the Taipan(the category the Fierce snake falls under) living in Ashmore Reef, in the Timor Sea northwest of Australia, then it goes: 2.Taipans(Fierce Snake, Central Ranges Taipan, Northwest Australian Taipan, Papuan Taipan, Coastal Taipan) 3.Common Krait 4.Phillipine Cobra 5.Indian King Cobra 6.Russels Viper 7.Black Mamba 8.Yellow Jawed Tommygoff 9.Multibanded Krait 10.Tiger Snake
Batman....a cottonmouth has a nasty bite for sure, with a lot of tissue damage. But even a large 6 foot Cottonmouth is not in the same category with a Diamondback Rattlesnake of ANY size.
Spitting Cobras are difficult to work with. I can tell you from personal experience that ANY venom in the eyes is BAD NEWS, and can be FATAL due to absorption through the capillaries.
I bet they are! I've had lots of close encounters with snakes in the bush, but if you can keep a respectable distance from them you are usually safe enough. A snake that can strike from a distance would be pretty scary tho.
1.. the most dangerous snake in africa is the black mamba
2. the most dangerous snake in asia is the chain viper
3.the mojave rattlesnake has the most potent venom
4.the gaboon adder isn life threatening and the carpet viper kills alot of people because the africans are walking around in bare foot and there are about 10 subspecies all over afica and asia so it isnt realy the carpet viper on its own!
Actually the Mojave Rattlesnake is the most dangerous, having the most toxic venom out of all of the rattlesnakes.
Also I don't believe that the longest venomous snake gets 18 feet long. Bushmasters only get about 6 feet long while King Cobras (longest venomous snakes) get 8 feet in length.
cooliotiffany......you are SO WRONG. Bushmasters do grow to 12 (or more) feet in the wild; and 15 foot+ King Cobra are COMMON. A big one can raise it's head 6 feet above the ground, and strike a human directly in the face!
Alright well you don't have to bash me for not knowing too much about venomous species. I only keep pythons, and at work I work around venomous species but I don't really feel like knowing too much about them. I'm more of a python girl, I have 4 Ball pythons and two Bloods pythons.
No bash intended Luv.....just a little correction. And no apologies needed for keeping constrictors. Pythons and Boas are very cool. I just caught a beautiful 10 foot Boa at my place here in Belize. I love them!
I have a Boa Constrictor as well, but not looking into keeping the boas. He's a Pastel 50% PH albino, but I don't really want to breed him. I'm going to breed Ball pythons this Fall, Spider x Normal. I also have a Mexican Black Kingsnake, Western Hognose snake, Bearded Dragon, Leopard gecko, and a Chinese Water Dragon.
The death adder can be a bit of a worry, I almost stepped on one on the local golf course last year. They sit there like a piece of old wood untill you're virtually on top of them. They don't retreat or back off. Very cool customers as snakes go.....
I've heard that the venom of some of the North American rattlesnakes is increasing in toxicity, like some sort of sped up evolutionary process is occuring. Any truth to this do you know?
Ur wrong roboter6.....there's nothing fake in any of my videos. What you are looking at is extreme necrosis, caused by the Pit Viper Venom. I have experienced this myself from Rattlesnake Bite; and I can assure you that fingers, toes, feet even entire limbs can simply "rot away" after a severe bite.
Interesting, and a bit disturbing, but you forgot one very dangerous snake: Black mamba (Dendroaspis polylepis). It has several features which make it one of the most lethal in the world: it is often very willing to bite (sometimes striking multiple times) and it has the highest mortality-per-bite rate of any snake (nearly 100% mortality if antivenom is unavailable).
The Black Mamba is certainly one of the most venomous snakes...PLUS being by far the FASTEST snake in the world. But this survey is not based upon most venomous; only upon the most human deaths attributed to the species. With that criteria, the Carpet Viper (Echis sp.) is the undisputed leader.
Yes the Inland Taipan or Fierce Snake is the most venomous land snake in the world, but number 2 and responsible for the most deaths by snakebite in Australia is the Eastern Brown snake.
LaughswontHurt, No, the sea snake is not the most venomous in the world, it's up there near the top, but the most venomous is the "inland tipan", not the costal tipan. However not many people have died because not many people live in inland australia.
mamba black is not the most venomous snake in the world, it's just the most agressive. The most venomous snake in the world lives in the sea, and it's also the calmest snake, until you get him out of the water . :)
this is NOT the deadly or the dangrous snake!! its not even on the top 10 list .,, the black mamba is 35 times more venmous, but its not the dangrous cuz of death is they strike and strike and strike and give u mutch venom so u will most likly die within 25 min.. the taipan is the world most dangrous and venomus snake the venom is 200 times stronger than that rattlesnake!
The Black Mamba is very aggresive and deadly , I would consider that to be the worlds deadliest snake ... and the Gaboon Viper has a potent venom as well that deteriorates the body around the bite wound after being bitten
The bushmaster is actually potentially dangerous, but since it is nocturnal, it rarely comes in contact with man. My definition of a dangerous snake depends on its aggressive nature and amount of venom it delivers. I consider the black mamba the most dangerous snake in the world for that reason. It is aggressive AND extremely venomous. The gaboon viper, however, is unaggressive, though it is extremely venomous.
could someone tell me about the fer de lance i read they are 75% leathel would they be in the top 10 of most dangerous snakes could some one let me know how poisonious they are my name his mel and i thank you.
yungclamp......YOU are wrong. Black Mamba? Fastest....YES. Most potent Venom....NO! And since this survey is based upon the NUMBER OF PEOPLE KILLED.....IT IS NOT MOST DANGEROUS! The Carpet Viper kills FAR MORE PEOPLE annually. You should check your facts.
But if you look where the Mamba lives its in the south and some in the east Africa and the Carpet Viper can be found in half Africa and middle east + south parts of Asia so it's about 1billion ppl to feed on :D
fesen2...what you say is absolutely true. No question; in a "one on one" encounter, because of it's speed and aggressiveness, the Black Mamba would be (by far) more dangerous to deal with....as would the King Cobra (any Cobra!), Taipan, and a host of other really "ill-tempered" serpents. But as this survey is based ONLY upon direct impact on Humanity as a whole......Echis carinatus...the really MEAN little Carpet Viper wins hands down!
Wow Inland Taipan! If it is ready to kill you, use your guns and shoot it quickly but lucky if you kill it. If not, you will die or else, dodge it. Said my cousin :D
I THINK that's what I said Dude! But that does not make it the "most dangerous". Based upon the number of Humans Killed, the "Saw-Scale" or "Carpet" Viper is by far the most dangerous.
first you say the King is the deadliest then later you change your mind?your video is bollocks and has no credibilty whatsoever so why don't you stop fooling around and wasting everybody's time with daft uploads
JONYBEAM.....I said the King Cobra has the most deadly BITE in ASIA. But it does not kill the most people. It's all about reading comprehension; look it up if you don't understand.
The most "Poisonous" snake in Asia, is the King Cobra. One bite can kill an Elephant! The Russel's Viper kills many people, but the "Saw-Scaled" (carpet) Viper ...though not the most "Poisonous", kills by far the most people in Asia AND Africa. Any yes, the Gaboon viper has the longest Fangs of any venomous snake.
Mostly, you just DIE! The venom attacks the surrounding tissues, quickly DIGESTING IT. Capillaries begin to break down throughout the body, causing bleeding, especially through the eyes and mucus membranes. If you are lucky enough to survive, the damaged tissues...hands, arms, legs etc. ROT AWAY!
they are beautiful creatures, we just need let them live in peace in the jugel and deserts, it s there where they should be, but through destroying their dwell, they may revange and that s logic..
We take people on "SNAKE SAFARI" in BELIZE, so that they can see (and photograph) these beautiful animals in their Jungle Home. They are not mean, vicious or even angry. When they bite humans, they are just doing what comes naturally. It is usually the IGNORANCE of people, that gets them hurt by animals. Snakes are not "toys", but really Dangerous and Deadly animals who deserve our AWE and RESPECT!
You should check your facts Dude! Sea Snakes are (usually) docile and not aggressive. Their Neuro-toxic Venom does not even compare to Tiapan, Tiger Snake, Death Adder and a host of other snakes. But this IS NOT about the most venomous, but the MOST DANGEROUS. Very Few People are killed by Sea Snakes! The biggest killer (by far) is Echis Carinatus, the Saw-scaled or "Carpet" Viper of Africa and Asia.

ChelseaGrinislife 1 year ago
@ChelseaGrinislife The LD50 puts the Inland Taipan the most toxic land snake drop for drop. This test is done on mice so how the venom would affect a human is uncertain. Australians love to over hype their snakes even though snakes in Australia only cause an average of 2-4 fatalities per year. There have been no recorded deaths caused by the Inland Taipan. Asia and Africa in comparison have thousands of snake bite fatalities per year.
MrGhod 1 year ago
@MrGhod That is exactly what I said. Yes, I know that the Taipan is the worlds most venomous land snake. The snakes that cause the most deaths are the saw-scaled viper and the Indian cobra. Australia has good access to antivenom..... India doesn't. That is the difference.
ChelseaGrinislife 1 year ago
the philippine cobra has the most potent venom of them all...no cure...you get bit...simple, you die...!!!!!
010bobby 1 year ago
The fierce snake is also referred to as the small scaled snake and is the most venomous. The Taipan is 2nd although the Taipan is more widespread and more aggresive. This list is not accurate as the brown, the king brown, the death adder, gwadar, copperhead, rough scaled, black snake are not included nor is the fierce snake which is number 1. Also there are 4 diffirent species of brown snake in Australia all of them are higher than the snakes u have here except Taipan
themullettiscool 1 year ago
The most venomous snake in the world ( landsnake) is the Fierce snake
themullettiscool 1 year ago
If you are talking about deadliest snakes not the ones that cause the most deaths this video needs to be redone. It is simply far to inaccurate. This video has not included some snakes that should be on here while they are being replaced by snakes that are on here
clm4321 1 year ago
Most of this information is wrong. Some is okay but you need to work this out and redo it.
Without going over the video again:
No Western Diamonback has ever grown to 8 feet. they grow to a max of 7.5... And that's HUGE for one.
Average is about 6.
The most venomous/Dangerous snake in South America is the Bushmaster. Not the Fur de lance.
#1 deadly snake. This is open to debate I guess as it depends on what you're going on. But it'd probably still be the Taipan in my opinion.

@jigglestumps
Not the common lancehead but the terciopelo (B. asper) which is responsible for causing the most snakebite cases in its habitats.

Go do some research.

marlin187 1 year ago
@marlin187 The world's most dangerous snakes live in India and they are called the Big Four. They are the Saw-Scaled Viper, Russel's Viper, Common Krait and Indian Cobra. Together they bite over 250,000 people a year and kill over 50,000 a year. The world's most venomous snakes live in Australia and in Pacific Ocean. Sea snakes are the most venomous but they aren't really dangerous because they are shy and rarely come into contact with people. The Inland Taipan is the most venomous.....
88Tdwp 1 year ago
@marlin187 land snake in the world but it isn't considered dangerous because it rarely comes into contact with people, it is shy and non-aggressive and it has never killed anyone but the Coastal Taipan has. The Saw-Scaled Viper on the other hand lives close to people, is extremely aggressive, has a horrible hemotoxic venom and around 20% of all bites are fatal. It is considered the world's most dangerous snake. Like I said, go do some more research their buddy. Science doesn't lie.

The attack range is long.

well seriously its what spiritwindbelize says they can be predictable and when their attention is drawn to e.a the owner or the one thats gonna catch him its relatively safe to stand around him.

I find your "Public Enemy No 1" label of the Carpet Viper unfortunate. These snakes bite in self defense, it's not their fault.
suba1234 1 year ago
@suba1234 I am very familiar with this snake on a personal level, and find them fascinating but very deadly reptiles. However NO ONE said it is "their fault" when they strike. Few animals intentionally attack humans, without provocation. But this video is presented as BOTH education and ENTERTAINMENT. Terminology used is presented in that context.
spiritwindbelize 1 year ago
@spiritwindbelize I am aware of that. Didn't say I didn't like the video though. I lived in South Africa once upon a time and I was fascinated by these creature too. The Mambas, Cobras and so on. Still, we snake lovers tend to be a little sensitive about the epithets used for these beautiful, misunderstood animals. Interestingly, I thought the Aussie Brown snake was deadliest. Peace.
suba1234 1 year ago
@suba1234 You are absolutely right. The saw-scaled viper is recognized as the most dangerous snake in the world. They have just horrible hematoxic venom, it is extremely aggressive and quick to strike. On the other hand, you have Hydrophis belcheri...Faint Banded Sea snake. It is the world's most venomous snake, but is it dangerous?? No. It has never killed anyone. Just like the Inland Taipan A.K.A Fierce snake. It is the world's most venomous land snake, but it isn't dangerous. It is shy and...
88Tdwp 1 year ago
@88Tdwp we also have the yellow and black sea snake, venom potently myotoxic but never any bites. There aren't that many deadly venomous snakes in SA, only about 14, but still, I would not tangle with a Black Mamba or a Puff Adder, or any one of the cobras over there. The Cape Cobra is a particularly dangerous snake, whose neurotoxic venom is similar to that of the Black Mamba, numerous fatalities in the rural parts each year. I still love snakes, though. They're beautiful.
suba1234 1 year ago
@suba1234 Oh yes the infamous boomslang. It is a opisthoglyphous colubrid. No one thought it was dangerous until it killed a young herpetologist. Yeah any sea snake will be extremely venomous. They have to be, for when they bite their prey they can't afford for it to swim away and the snake not find it. That would result in a loss of venom and prey. Snakes are such beautiful and amazing creatures. I have been keeping them since I was 6 years old. Mostly colubrids and pythons and boas.
88Tdwp 1 year ago
@88Tdwp you certainly seem to know quite a bit about them too. I have never had the pleasure of having my own biological specimens at home, so you're very lucky to have them. Interesting point you made about the Sea Snake and its venom. I think this must be the case with the Boomslang and Twig snakes - those birds mustn't be able to fly off. On that point, yet another myth bebunked about those two having to "hook" on to envenomate... What colubrids do you keep?
suba1234 1 year ago
@suba1234 Well for the Boomslangs and Twig snakes, I do believe that they have to grab and hold on. When they bite, they have to chew so the rear back fangs can channel venom into the wound. As for the Colubrids that I keep right now... I currently have no species of snakes because my Fiance is terrified of snakes lol. I have had Kingsnakes, Cornsnakes, Ratsnakes, Carpet Pythons, Macklot's Pythons, Red-tailed Boa's, Hognose snakes, and a few other species. I plan on getting snakes in the near
88Tdwp 1 year ago
@suba1234 future though and I plan on getting some Jungle Carpet Pythons, Blood Pythons, a spider Ball Python, a Piebald Ball Python and some Albino Boas. That is the species that I hope to get in about a year and I am going to start with Morelia spilota cheynei. Morelia species are my fav. species of snakes.
88Tdwp 1 year ago
@suba1234 it has never killed anyone. People will always argue over who is right and so on. In my opinion, India has the most dangerous snakes and Australia has the most venomous snakes. Australia has the most venomous everything lol.
88Tdwp 1 year ago
@88Tdwp Yes, it's all very interesting. I remember a small snake in South Africa, a back-fanged haemotoxic snake called the Boomslang. The most venomous snake on the African continent, requiring a microscopic amount of venom to make you bleed to death internally thanks to its strong anti-coagulant venom. It's a shy little snake that's only kills about three or four people in decades, usually snake handlers who underestimate its ability to strike.
suba1234 1 year ago
@Evilspoofauthor. I am sure that you are mistaken my friend. The Inland Taipan A.K.A. has never killed anyone. It is also no longer the most venomous snake in the world, Hydrophis belcheri is. And also a eyelash palm viper??? Seriously .That snake is venomous but should not be on this list so I don't know what kind of books you have been reading but here on earth we check our references before we make comments. As for the deadliest snakes, that would be the big four of India.
88Tdwp 1 year ago
Many people get the terms mixed up, when saying deadliest snake, most venomous snake, etc.. Some tiltles depend on the LD -50 chart, and some because of the amount of deaths per year related to a certain species.According the venom the MV snake is the Inland Taipan or beacked sea snake/deadliest is the Russell's Viper, from my studies -The worst snake bite in the world, is yours when you get bit! ~Lee

@spiritwindbelize -Thanks for your kind words, and I also wanted to add that as our knowledge and statistics change so will the snakes number on the list. Best Wishes &Thanks, ~Lee
mykidsdad36 1 year ago
Actually, the snakes accounting for the most deaths, acc to the books I've read are as follows; African Puff Adder, Comon Cobra or Indian Cobra, The Fer de Lance, the Eyelash Palm Pit Viper, the Inland Taipan, the Austrailian TigerSnake, the Common Krait, and the Black Mamba.
EvilSpoofAuthor 1 year ago
@EvilSpoofAuthor: Don't know what books or where they got their data, but we stand by our presentation. Some of the snakes you mention, though very venomous (i.e. Taipan) bite very few people. The Eyelash viper should not be in the list at all. More human deaths are caused by the Carpet (saw-scale) Viper than any other snake. It is SMALL, VERY COMMON over a WIDE RANGE and often lives in human habitations. Though it's bite does not kill quickly...it DOES KILL almost 100% of the time.
spiritwindbelize 1 year ago
Western rattlesnakes are the best. I saw a bunch of them in Hell's Canyon on the Oregon/Idaho border. Nothing but steep hills, rocks, warm sunlight and rattlesnakes. They blend in there but they're considerate enough to mention where they are so you don't step on them. don't step on them. Not much danger, just a bunch of cool snakes. The dangerous thing about that place is bears. It may not be most venomous, and what the hell does "most venomous" even mean, but it's definitely the coolest.
kozmon0t 1 year ago
The cottonmouth is not more deadly than an Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake. Anyways the most venomous snake in the u.s is the coral snake not the rattlesnake or cottonmouth. The coral snake is a elapid and it is related to the cobras. And the worlds most venomous land snake is the Inland taipan A.K.A the Fierce snake. It has enough venom in one bite to kill 250,000 mice or 62 humans. The most venomous snakes though are the sea snakes.
88Tdwp 1 year ago
@88Tdwp....This survey is based upon the MOST HUMAN FATALITIES.....not potency of the venom. The secretive Coral Snake's Venom is designed to immobilize small snakes and lizards. Few people are bitten by Coral Snakes, and MOST survive without major complication. Therefore the large and aggressive Diamondback Rattlesnake is BY FAR the most dangerous snake in North America.

Interesting, and a bit disturbing, but you forgot one very dangerous snake: Black mamba (Dendroaspis polylepis). It has several features which make it one of the most lethal in the world: it is often very willing to bite (sometimes striking multiple times) and it has the highest mortality-per-bite rate of any snake (nearly 100% mortality if antivenom is unavailable).
trondsi 2 years ago
The Black Mamba is certainly one of the most venomous snakes...PLUS being by far the FASTEST snake in the world. But this survey is not based upon most venomous; only upon the most human deaths attributed to the species. With that criteria, the Carpet Viper (Echis sp.) is the undisputed leader.

Snakes are not "toys", but really Dangerous and Deadly animals who deserve our AWE and RESPECT!

the snake ur referring to with the most venomous snake is the sea snake 100x more deadly then any of its land bound cousins.
