  • A Perfect Album

  • this album...I cant get enough!

  • One of the best songs by APC, period. Epic stuff here. Once again, Josh takes this song to another level with his great drumming. It's simple. but effective. Nice groove at the beginning. I give it a 9/10

  • i hate it when they say that line at the aa/na meetings... how are gonna make amends to the dead.. stupid religious fanatics need a imaginary friend to cope with there addictions.

  • along with Orestes, probably the most moving song on the album.

  • @MrPLOXPLOXPLOX Orestes is great song indeed but it's from a different album "Mer De Noms" it released before this one.

  • @ lldsandlls

  • this is what i love whit apc, its so many ways to interpret there songs... they make you think...

  • Reddit re-affirmed what I previously thought. I love this song.

  • Reddit told me this was good, let's check this out

  • it's ok

  • It is "Thirteenth Step", not "Thirteen Step", btw.

  • I was a huge Tool fan before I discovered A Perfect Circle. I thought it couldn't possibly be as good. There was simply no way. It is now my favorite band. This album in particular is shockingly incredible.

  • @emperor0013 Pretty much anything Maynard touches becomes incredible. The latest Puscifer album is no exception.

  • came here from reddit

    this is soooo mainstream lol

  • @Refreshernoob People on reddit shouldn't leave. Or at least, they shouldn't announce when they have. It's like a gulag for all the irritating bastards of the internet.

  • Oh my god... thank you Reddit... Thank you so much. I love you.

  • Reddit didn't bring me here, A Perfect Circle brought me here because they are amazing.

  • @cmclay4545 That makes you very special...

  • >< Depressing song. I love how it makes me feel though.

  • Is it racist? you tell me tosh....

  • @SaffuriousOne please learn to spell -____-

  • Alchemical, extraordinarily tight, and spacey, at the same time :-/

  • i wonder what tool has in store for us in 2012

  • I had not heard much of this band until today. I bought this album online, out of boredom, and i don't have the words to describe how i am feeling. I have sat in my conservatory for 2 hours playing this album over and over again, just staring into the dark. I am literally speechless.

  • @darkmagician1944 Dude has a conservatory and is all about the noose. Look out Colonel Mustard!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @lldsandsll Finally a top comment I found worthy of my time spent reading it. Kudos to you, sir!

  • @lldsandsll Haha, Mer de Noms is also brilliant. I love this band already.

  • @lldsandsll

    wat

  • @lldsandsll

    Best... reply... ever.

  • @lldsandsll genius comment lol i rarely get a laugh on here its normally just nerdrage :D thanks for making my day x

  • @darkmagician1944 >literally speechless

    >literally

    confirmed for reddit cunt-tard.

  • @darkmagician1944 I'm glad you've discovered A Perfect Circle! If you like them you should check out Tool and Puscifer. Maynard James Keenan is the lead singer for all three bands.

  • @darkmagician1944 I know that feel, bro. I think every APC/ Tool fan went through that.

  • @darkmagician1944 stoned though right?

  • @darkmagician1944 apc blows tool out of the water for me.....dunno why but i can do the same thing, just listen to this album on repeat!

  • @PixieBug420 Same here, i have always been a fan of Tool but never paid much attention to APC. I only wish i'd given them a chance earlier.

  • @darkmagician1944 this album will stick with you forever. I bought it the day it came out several years ago, still jammin it. Also, if you haven't already, definitely get Mer De Nom. Also a badass album.

  • @darkmagician1944 you bought the album lol

  • @darkmagician1944 then buy their album emotive... its just as powerful, tool is good as well, same singer manyard james keenan

  • @darkmagician1944

This will never touch the mainstream radio.. People that play instruments and like to make music Not for fame or recognition.. I love the line "Your halo is slipping down"

Every instrument and vocal is audible and beautiful in all their songs

  • @darkmagician1944 all the time, i still listen to it one of my fav.

  • @darkmagician1944 if you like them listen to tool same singer and drummer I think on the drummer but I would know Maynard anywhere

  • @crazytrain58 Not the same drummer. Josh Freese is APC's drummer, and the legend Danny Carey is Tool's drummer. They are both awesome in different ways though.

  • @denji20 thanks... Danny Carey is a beast XD

  • @darkmagician1944 I just bought the album on your recomendation, and listened to it from start to finish from my ipod in total darkness.

I can't even tell you how much I owe you... you're right, this album is incredible

  • @darkmagician1944 the album is longer than 2 hours.......

  • @gastraph5 Or, 50 minutes long?

  • @darkmagician1944 You have a 'conservatory'?

  • @darkmagician1944 Get the mer de noms album, you'll love it

  • @darkmagician1944 You listened 2 it over and over in just 2 hours

  • @darkmagician1944

Welcome to the world of TOOL/APC.

Now you're one of 'us' and you know why we're here and how we feel.

    It's like magic isn't it?

Now after this go and learn of Opeth, and your journey will be even better.

    Happy travels my friend.

  • @darkmagician194 You should definitely check out tool and puscifer if you haven't and I just started listening to them on youtube today and I'm about to buy this album too

  • Best song APC ever done,

  • this is how you back up a chrome book.

And this is how to tie a noose, take a hint.

  • 34 people's halos slipped down.

  • @XMasterZing just make some poops already

  • @XMasterZing u couldnt be more right

  • how about this, there are 13 steps to enlightenment in buddahism. food for thought...

  • How dare they advertise "The Wanted" on a Perfect Circle song... >.<

  • @SparrowHawky well, A Perfect Circle song is always wanted so i find it kinda nice

  • @SparrowHawky my dads friend with some people that know manyard and the band and i'm always on the look out but i don't know for sure every thing always sketchy with manyard

  • where is the love button?

  • 12 step programs suck, thumbs up if you agree that this whole album is dedicated to the vacuum that is any 12 step program

  • @MMAboi1126 so is the albums name the step after the final 12th step? i.e. the thirteenth step?

  • @sniper4900JB there are some programs that have 13 steps, the 13th step is doing anything to quit, locking you up in a padded room in a straight jacket. But the whole album is about drugs, rehab, overdose, pretty much anything to do with drugs, being the reason for the name of the album, and coincidently, there are 12 songs on the album

  • Idk why but Maynard's singing reminds me of water/silk

  • @ssgoko88 It's because it's more beautiful than the ocean. And as smooth as silk

  • This song is just awesome... but so is everything Maynard contributes to.

  • Maynard was also on the track know your enemy from the self titled rage against the machine

  • i've been listening to this and tool for a LONG time.. and when i was younger i discovered a song that i believed was from another band maynard was in but i cant remember the band. not sure if maynard was really in it but i thought he was. any help?

  • @ThePrincessDianah

    Puscifer!

  • @ThePrincessDianah

He sings on a Deftones track called The Passenger. Last track on the album White Pony.

  • @xdalleman79 ya i know that song, great one!!

  • To all who listen to reason. - Words like "Addiction" are for people who look down on others for not going through the same things. How sad it is that people choose to destroy them selves, only to throw it in the faces of others listening to great music. Choose to be smart or stupid it's up to you. Stop being so "Weak and Powerless" over your own stupidity. Also music is subjective. Meaning this song "means" what you interpret it to mean. To me this song is about looking inward. - Kane

  • @OmniscientMaelstrom which is all fine and good for you...but considering Maynard and Billy have given interviews saying that this album is dedicated and inspired by their friends who have died because of drug use, to put any other spin or meaning on it is an insult. You can interpret the songs any way you want..but recognize that this album brought tears and heavy emotion from the band, to the point of Billy not being able to play certain songs because it was just too hard to be reminded.

  • @babytweeze85 Regardless of what you say, interviews or not. True music is about thinking. Not just any kind of thinking, but thinking for yourself. Silly how blind people have become. Jaded and paralyzed by the idea of anything they can't understand. From your comment I can see you are the very kind of person I was talking to/about. I advise you drop the righteousness and think for yourself. - Kane

  • If you were stuck in a zombie apocalypse, ask yourself, what would Maynard James Keenan do?

  • @TheDrugsWantMe All hed have to do is sing... His magical voice would turn them back into humans

  • Hey peeps! Hate doin this, but surroundins are forcin me to! And since it's the only way to get heard.. Just poppin by my fave bands and throwin this up, I just finished my debut demo. Inspired by Maynard greatly and thats why I feel no shame, think he'd let me! If anyone want's to then feel free to pop by and give a listen, throw a comment or PM about what ya think and spread it around. 1 view in denmark is like scoring 1000 elsewhere. So every little helps! Take care, Much love! - Liam Andrew

  • Its "and now, with heavens help,.."

  • I am more than just a little curious how you are going to make your amends to the dead, maybe the people who died using some of your drugs or riding shotgun next to your drunken ass driving.

Why do any of you brilliant pundits think he would be so curious, out a spite or maybe he really wants to know how

  • @MrChasbaba as if you're so perfect...lose your halo angel. blame placing won't make it better....

  • @MrChasbaba if u cant listen to the music and make it ur own than put something else on...no one forces u to hear this..obviously..cause u really cant hear anything else except for yourself. go put on some country music..its more your speed skippy.

  • Good thing they're not and abnormal circle.. :)

  • A Perfect Circle is my therapy

  • The final 54 seconds give me goosebumps every time.

  • TO BE DIFFERENT IS TO BE NORMAL!!

  • @conejwsr Na man, people who consider them selves normal is bcuz they do what everybody else does.

  • 33 people like there sex boring

  • EASY KILLA

  • I think every song MJK has ever done is open to the listeners interpretation. He wrote it to heal himself, he opens it to the world to help you heal.

  • I love music and its a huge part of my life, but in my top ten and in anyone else's.. This song HAS TO be there.... Fuckin Beautiful

  • ^^ i love this song and i love this band... <3 <3 <3

  • i think we should just be happy eith the song and that the new TOOL album comes out may 2012

  • @REDEAGLE462 really?

  • @REDEAGLE462 YAY!

  • @REDEAGLE462 and where did you this amazing news from??

  • @kmedina419 ive been hearing of this for a while now too.

  • It almost sounds to me that he's speaking about a previous dealer/addict that is now completely clean from the drug and he's curious how he plans to make amends to the people who he "provided" death to. And that now he has been confronted his "halo" is slipping down. Just what I took from it.

  • Top comment contradiction!

  • :' )

  • I'd show this song to my father just to show him how ive felt about him but I just realized I should take a step back and no longer continue any of these vicious cycles between people. Thank you Maynard:)

  • On a completely unrelated note, my pasta salad is delicious!

  • Your halo's slipping down.

  • wtf r u listening to matthewpaas?

  • i hear him battling/ or talking bout drug abuse ,....

  • @xboxdragondude

    Agreed

  • I like to imagine that the banana slug is my dick on that obscenely whit bitch's face.

  • @PosieDada lmao she is dead you know...banana slugs only eat dead things

  • @Thelndigo ....even better.

  • At first, I was going to say that I honestly didn't like this one as much as other songs from A Perfect Circle, but, now that I know the meaning, and I listen to the lyrics. It's amazing. One of my favorite songs by them. Also, if you don't like this song, then why did you click the video? If you say 'people who listen to A Perfect Circle' are ape-like, think about what all the newer songs these days are about! Love, girlfriends, cheating, and sex. Consider those factors when listening.

  • My favorite song... personally. Aside from that-

    Beowolf? Anyone?

  • I can't believe any of you morons even listen to

Apc. You are all clearly ape-like. It's a wonder you were even able to type out these ridiculous comments.

  • @matthewpaas Nawh, look at the little troll:3

  • @douchpooch111 Sorry what i ment was that was Maynard's intension for the song but yes this has whatever meaning u want it to have

  • This song definitely isn't about drugs. It's about a person who made mistakes in their past which resulted in the death of someone else who was later reformed, and how we are "glad to see them well" but yet we wonder how they can ever makes amends to the dead which is what causes their halo to slip down and become a noose. Brilliant metaphor for a song.

  • @mrpeckster acually the song has not meaning, its what ever u want it to be

  • @douchpooch111

I want this sing to be about puppies and ice cream falling off the cone "slipping down"

The puppies die but the deep well into which they fell was well that well was glad to see those puppies drown cause the well is evil

Maynard is evil and the moon has colony on the dark side that is soon to come to Earth which he sings about in the nurse who loved me, isn't it obvious?

  • @MrChasbaba as u wish

  • @xboxdragondude you've never heard a tool fan talk before have you?

  • @xboxdragondude it's not about that dude. It's about getting rid of addictions(getting a halo) and then falling back into them(with your halo slipping down).

  • this is a "side project" of tool which i find this style of music to be so peaceful and calming

  • @smokey420bluntz Actually, APC is Billy Howerdel's band that he started after quitting as the guitar tech for Tool. Billy couldn't find a vocalist he wanted to join the band, and Maynard had previously offered to join him in a band if he ever started one, if I recall correctly.

If you like this band, check out Ashes Divide. That is Billy's new band that he formed after APC and has a lot of the same style of music.

  • @rwfsmith

    Ashes Divide is awesome!

  • @erinannbrady Indeed they are. They came to Seattle a few years back, but the show landed on the anniversary with my (then) girlfriend. I shoulda just gone to the show, would have saved me a few hundred dollars :P.

  • Yo dawg, you got yellow on your face.

  • fuck the fucking fuckers

  • Artistic beauty this is how to write a song

  • this song has helped me through soo much.

  • Comment removed

  • this isn't about people being killed

  • @N30Crus4d3R Maynard says that this is about what he heard at a speech. The speaker said something to the effect of "Don't let your halo choke you to death when it's hanging there around your neck". He said this is about when people feel high and mighty because they beat their addiction. He is trying to let them know that even though they beat the addiction, they still can't forget all of the hardships they put themselves and other through.

  • @trevsweet You never beat your addiction. Ever. It just doesn't work that way.

  • @mhintz34 Wrong.

  • @mustbejames1 Ahahahahahahahahaha are you kidding me?!?!?! You have first hand experience with it? When you think you have it beat, thats when it comes back, read the book of Alcoholics Anonymous. Man was sober for 25+ years until he retired, he then relapsed and was dead within something like 3 years. You don't beat your addiction, you go into remission such as cancer, you always carry it with you as it's a mental disease.

  • @mhintz34 but you can surpress it down and move on with your life.....youre right about it being scars that last forever...god knows ill always have these scars....but that doesnt mean you can overcome your addiction....it will always be with you, but you can beat it down....

  • @trevsweet you copy and pasted this comment from another "the noose" video description

  • @BattassProductions no shit but its the truth.

  • Idk why but i only like APC - The Outsider..... all the other songs are ..... weird..

  • best singer ever.

  • This song has a deep message.

  • @Radioheadeist just like ur moms cunt xD

  • @alterperversersackkk bastard..

  • @Radioheadeist i was just joking, dude.

    i dont know ur mom.

    and i love this song!

  • So is this song speaking about someone committing suicide, or is it about someone coming out of that depression?

  • When this song came out I thought of it as a response to all the killing being committed by the Bush Admin.

  • Best song ever

  • This has to be my favourite song by them, fucking amazing! I've listened to it so many times and it can never get old or lose its meaning!

  • Wow this is so chill.. im at mc'ds using up they're wifi on some xanax and this song is relaxing

  • FUCK EMO PEOPLE!!!!!
