Wow, this guy kicks ass! I wish I had someone to teach me carpentry like this. It's a creative and useful skill, and my grandmother's basement actually needs this done...

Would have been better if at the end you took the first dump in the toilet and flushed it to prove the toilet worked. That is the last step in the process of putting in a bathroom. Should have been in the video.
im getting ready to remodel the bathroom in my basement... first time remodeling job for me, a first project... i wanna say this was an awesome video good job on the bathroom and the editing
Very creative video, and the soundtrack makes it strangely mesmerising. It's not really an instructional video so lighten up a bit guys. He may not have done everything "to code" but I am still impressed by a fellow with enough knowledge (drywall, tape, mud, wiring, plumbing, etc) and skill to COMPLETE such a major project. Only a tiny fraction of men have this knowledge and industry. Good for him. If you are one also, good for you too. BTW, editing this video was a bit of work as well.
where is the trim ring for the angle stop on toilet he didnt center the sink correctly ... a 90 ell you dont need .... things get caught at that fitting
that guys all focked up on that drain pipe .. what is that drain pipe going right? its not a vent .. no double lav? if thats a drain arm its way to long .. nothing else it could be not properly vented oops hahaha
Wicked project and great video. Im in the process of doing similar items to both the master and guest bath. Cant say I care too much for the color of the paint on your walls in this video but Im definitely digging the decor :)
Music is definitely sick as well. Im gonna lookem up. Great job!
I hope he does not get to much work cuz his plumbing is terrible. lets put it this way he is lucky nobody can see the plumbing behind the wall. if anyone wants to do work like this hire a plumber to put the system not a carpenter.

Hi, although our video was all fast fowarded, I found it amazing. Wow! hat off to you.

Well done! Incredibly work! (great music, btw) Now, if only we were as good as you :) gah, even caulking took me forever and a day and i barely did more then a sink and shower/tub!
The hardest part for me was just making everything fit. I hate measuring stuff. I know that probably sounds weird, but I've always had a tough relationship with the tape measure. Pumping cement under the shower basin was not much fun either, even though it's not shown in the video.
I am going to school for it, so interesting. I am almost finished with it aswell. I cant wait to finish, although everyday is interesting in EMT school.
So what i was wondering... Is there anyway you could kinda help me out with it? I plan on doing it by myself, so I'm gonna need advice from a pro like yourself. Thx!
Oh, I'm hardly a pro. I had never done a project like this before. I just made sure to do all of my research, and if something came up that I did feel like I could handle, I would just call some one who really knew their stuff. It was a lot of fun! Good luck, and I will be happy to answer what ever question I can...
Ok so the bathroom i have needs a ton of repairs imo - i just moved into this house like a week ago... and i'm a girl so i don't shit about the stuff that needs done... so... I have some questions.. What was that green wall stuff that you put up first? is that drywall? and then you painted it tan.. I'm assuming that is plaster? and underneath the vanity... well when you open up the vanity there's a TON of pipes sticking out, it's not all nice and neat like you had it...
all those pipes are his supplys. dwv drainiage pipe. If your not sure,, you should hire a contractor. do what you can and let him do the rest. If you make a a mistake such as in the dwv pipe it will cost you thousands of dollars in mold later on.
The green stuff is Moisture and Mildew resistant drywall. Made special for bathrooms and kitchens. The tan stuff was just primer paint, makes it really easy to see any Spackle mistakes and it helps the finish paint stick really well. You may have other pipes under your vanity that run to other parts of your home. Since this was new construction, is was easy to keep it simple. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
Well... I have no formal training. I just researched what needed to be done, and did it. I checked the internet and a few people I know who have some experience.
I have a digital still image camera that has a setting to automatically take a picture once every thirty seconds. Once the project is completed, I add all of the single images into the time-line of a video editing program. Once I have edited the length or duration of the over-all video, I add the music track and titles. That's about it. If you have more questions, let me know, I'll try to be helpful.
You have got to find out the name of this song... Please FIND OUT. I've been listening to it for the past 1 1/2 and still don't know how to get a copy of it. I've been searching for it. Thanks LIFEs
I have also looked all over. Some one posted a comment once with a great deal of information about the band the song, but they came back later and deleted the comment. Oh well. I guess I should have written it down.
excellent video, I watched all 5 min of it. :) i am just working on doing my own bathroom too tomorrow, DId you run the waterlines yourself? was it hard? any tips? thanks.
The water lines were easy. I used the PEX system since it was already in place, and just continued existing lines. I did however have to cut a hole in the foundation floor and run to an existing drain.
The PEX stuff is a dream to work with, almost anyone can use it. Home Depot and Lowes both carry it, and will show you how to use it. The crimping tool is expensive, but often available for rent at Home Depot.
great video. I like to do the DIY projects around the house. Not until after do I ever think about videoing (not sure that's a word). I take the before and after shots but your video is great-especially considering it was a six month project. Looks great!
drywalling SUCKS ASS..... How the hell do I finish around the shower flange? My drywall board stops at the shower flange. NOT over the flange. How do I finish up to the shower over the flange?
Oh crap! You're going to have to replace the drywall with a larger piece. You will have to track back to at least the nearest stud and scab a piece in. The dry wall should butt up almost directly to the shower edge, about 1/8 inch away, and totally overlap the flange. Then you finish with edge with caulk. For best results, I recommend using latex or acrylic based caulking after you paint.
Hope this helped. Good luck! And thanks for watching!
I built a bathroom from scratch in my basement too. It took me 4 months to complete but it turned out better than i would have ever imagined. It was the first time for a big project like that. Yours turned out great too..thanks for the video
I am remodeling my bathroom... and believe it or not the drywall is driving me nuts.... any ideas on how to make it look "right"? Thank you in advance man. Good job by the way, VERY well done.
This project was the first time I had ever done dry wall, so I learned a lot! It was the hardest part for me too.
The most helpful things that I learned were; to keep in mind that there really is no such thing as a perfect corner, and you want to sand as little as possible, and there is a lot of stuff that paint will cover.
Also, wet sanding helps. Warm water and a square cellulose sponge. Use it just like you would sand paper, but slow and soft. Wring out as needed.
Ha! This one took me almost six months just doing it in my spare time (which I usually have little of). Luckily, it wasn't a bathroom that we really needed at any point.
Good luck with the remodel, and thanks for watching!
Seeing you fucking up makes me proud to be a German! Come over here and I'll teach you how to build a bathroom!
Hell yeah I' am Hitler and my father is an Iraqi so I am Saddam as well so go fuck yourself! You really think I give a shit about your reply or about your fucking feelings?
let me tell you somethin pal: If you wanna dine with the devil you need a damn long spoon! a much longer spoon than you could ever imagine in your little oyster-faced shithead with three double chins.Believe me!
Honestly, save yourself a headache! Beg, barrow, or steal a real miter saw, it makes a ton of difference! I'm sure guys who use the old fashioned miter boxes often are pretty good with them, but I am still considering redoing some of the trim.
Thanks for watching! Glad you liked the the tunes!
It is some kind or strange burnt orange color. I'm just so tired of shades of white. I thought the brighter colors would give some life to the small space.
I'm glad you liked the video, thanks for watching!
awesome vid! only thing is vid doesnt do it justice. thats a lot of work put into a liitle slot. im building my house right now.( going on six months, im sick of it!lol) i wish i could fast foward everything! again awesome vid!
I don't totally disagree. With proper guidance and planning I do believe that the average person could pull this off. This was my first bathroom. Actually, it was my first toilet, shower, vanity, drywall, pretty much everything...
Editing on something like this is actually fairly quick. Import the pictures from the camera to the computer, then import the pictures into the editor program, render, adjust time length to suit music track, add titles and music, and render again. Total time of about an hour and a half...
Wow, this guy kicks ass! I wish I had someone to teach me carpentry like this. It's a creative and useful skill, and my grandmother's basement actually needs this done...

Hope this helps!

omg dude! Im having one of my bathrooms remodeled and im sick of it, its been four days and they are still working on it

Ha! This one took me almost six months just doing it in my spare time (which I usually have little of). Luckily, it wasn't a bathroom that we really needed at any point.
Good luck with the remodel, and thanks for watching!

Fun vid. How much do you charge by the minute?

The time lapse camera took a picture every thirty seconds. The video is playing back at about twelve frames per second. Hope that helps...
Thanks for watching!

Nicely done. I need to find one of those plastic trim guides. Loved the music.

GOOD JOB ! Look really good. but what was the color you used > loved it .
manny4504 3 years ago
It is some kind or strange burnt orange color. I'm just so tired of shades of white. I thought the brighter colors would give some life to the small space.
I'm glad you liked the video, thanks for watching!

It's a band called "The Stella Link". There is a little more info in the video description. I think their MySpace page is still active.
Thanks for taking the time to check it out!

Smaller rooms are often harder. The tight measurements allow much less room for error. Thank you for taking the time to watch!

According to AskTheBuilder it's very easy and anybody can do it. ROTFL.

I don't totally disagree. With proper guidance and planning I do believe that the average person could pull this off. This was my first bathroom. Actually, it was my first toilet, shower, vanity, drywall, pretty much everything...

Not much worse than a cell phone in a toilet.

Okay, it's technical question time! I dunno why, but I particularly dig the 2:21-2:22 segment (stepladder travels right-left).
What's the total time you spent editing the whole video?
I woulda asked in an e-mail, but I stopped myself and said: "Self! The world would like to know the answer to this."
cowboytim98 3 years ago
Editing on something like this is actually fairly quick. Import the pictures from the camera to the computer, then import the pictures into the editor program, render, adjust time length to suit music track, add titles and music, and render again. Total time of about an hour and a half...
Hope that helped.
