  • Excellent work , thank you for posting the video

  • awesome video

  • Would have been better if at the end you took the first dump in the toilet and flushed it to prove the toilet worked. That is the last step in the process of putting in a bathroom. Should have been in the video.

  • Should have put some John Denver music in here.

"thank God I'm a Country Boy"

  • GREAT JOB!

  • im getting ready to remodel the bathroom in my basement... first time remodeling job for me, a first project... i wanna say this was an awesome video good job on the bathroom and the editing

  • Dude, it's post-rock. Go look up Caspian, or This Will Destroy You. Or Hammock.

  • Great job, i wish more people had the time to do project's like this.

  • hey great job man !!!! looks good

  • looks like you enjoy collecting street signs!

  • Very creative video, and the soundtrack makes it strangely mesmerising. It's not really an instructional video so lighten up a bit guys. He may not have done everything "to code" but I am still impressed by a fellow with enough knowledge (drywall, tape, mud, wiring, plumbing, etc) and skill to COMPLETE such a major project. Only a tiny fraction of men have this knowledge and industry. Good for him. If you are one also, good for you too. BTW, editing this video was a bit of work as well.

  • And just for the record, I mow lawns for living. Go figure...

Thanks for the great comment. I really appreciate the kind words, and your taking the time to watch!

  • Can you email me the soundtrack?

  • It turned out very nice, thanks for sharing this video,

    Take care,Rob

  • If hiring this guy , I would check for his contractors lic ... he's no plumber I'll say that

  • where is the trim ring for the angle stop on toilet he didnt center the sink correctly ... a 90 ell you dont need .... things get caught at that fitting

  • where is the trim ring for the angle stop ?

  • HE MUST OF DRIFTED OFF IN HIS MIND !! ... PEOPLE GET REAL PLUMBERS .........MOST LIKELY A DO IT ALL SCAB TAKING PLUMBING JOBS .........

  • that guys all focked up on that drain pipe .. what is that drain pipe going right? its not a vent .. no double lav? if thats a drain arm its way to long .. nothing else it could be not properly vented oops hahaha

  • great video, good music and a nice bathroom! well done.

  • forgot the wax seal!!! omg lol

  • @MALAKIA2006 he put it on the bottom of the toilet first. Doesnt matter either way. I prefer on the toilet first, so you know its sealed right.

  • Cool video!

  • Very good, how much do you charge to make one bathroom if buy everything ?

  • Great vid!!!

  • i love see men working on something nice

    Well done

  • I hope he does not get to much work cuz his plumbing is terrible. lets put it this way he is lucky nobody can see the plumbing behind the wall. if anyone wants to do work like this hire a plumber to put the system not a carpenter.

  • Amazing!

  • Pain is weakness leaving the body!

  • I bought a property that needs a lot of work. There's no kitchen or a bthroom. I guess the previous planned to redoing but no money :-). My question is I like to add a new bathroom in the existing kitchen which is gutted. I am very worried about the cost for the plumbing. Do I have to run a sewer pipe from the basement or PVC can work. your reply is appreciated. thank you

  • @tenzizona My best suggestion would be to check your local building codes. It never hurts to call a professional for advice either. You'd be surprised how much they like to help. Good luck with your project!

  • Hi, although our video was all fast fowarded, I found it amazing. Wow! hat off to you.

  • excellent video, and nice color and decor matching, i love it...

  • Thank you very much. I've had mixed reviews on the color, but I like it, so...

    Thanks for checking it out!

  • This was amazing!!! How much do you this this cost? I'm getting a HUD home and would like to have a bathroom installed upstairs.

  • If I remember correctly, this project came in at under $2,500.00 US.

    Thanks for watching!

  • great!!!!!

  • Cool?

I like it. Thanks for watching!

  • Hi LifesEyesFilms,

Nice work! I was wondering what song this is...it sounds like the band is Boards of Canada or Godspeed You Black Emperor.. ???

  • Its is

    The Stella Link.

No idea what their current status is. I've made multiple attempts to contact them, but could never get so much as a nod.

    Thanks for watching!

  • you hung all that drywall upside down.

  • Whoops! That's okay, it will only take me about seven-teen seconds to fix it...

    thanks for watching!

  • Not bad for a non-pro. Usually this winds up half done and they call me.

  • Ha! I love the feeling a finishing a long term project! Thanks for watching!

  • that was cool. great soundtrack too.

Im thinking of building a bathroom as well. Whats the hardest part?

  • The hardest part for me was just making everything fit. I hate measuring stuff. I know that probably sounds weird, but I've always had a tough relationship with the tape measure. Pumping cement under the shower basin was not much fun either, even though it's not shown in the video.

    Good luck and have fun!

  • You are an Emergency Medical Technician?

I am going to school for it, so interesting. I am almost finished with it aswell. I cant wait to finish, although everyday is interesting in EMT school.

  • Yes, but I don't work in that field any more.

    Thanks for watching!

  • What took you so long? Five minutes Thats like way to long. Just kidding man. You done a really nice job. Thanks for sharing it. Have a great day.

  • Thank you so much for the positive comment! You made my day much brighter by saying that!

Thanks for watching, and you have a great day too!

  • So what i was wondering... Is there anyway you could kinda help me out with it? I plan on doing it by myself, so I'm gonna need advice from a pro like yourself. Thx!

  • Oh, I'm hardly a pro. I had never done a project like this before. I just made sure to do all of my research, and if something came up that I did feel like I could handle, I would just call some one who really knew their stuff. It was a lot of fun! Good luck, and I will be happy to answer what ever question I can...

  • Ok so the bathroom i have needs a ton of repairs imo - i just moved into this house like a week ago... and i'm a girl so i don't shit about the stuff that needs done... so... I have some questions.. What was that green wall stuff that you put up first? is that drywall? and then you painted it tan.. I'm assuming that is plaster? and underneath the vanity... well when you open up the vanity there's a TON of pipes sticking out, it's not all nice and neat like you had it...

  • all those pipes are his supplys. dwv drainiage pipe. If your not sure,, you should hire a contractor. do what you can and let him do the rest. If you make a a mistake such as in the dwv pipe it will cost you thousands of dollars in mold later on.

  • The green stuff is Moisture and Mildew resistant drywall. Made special for bathrooms and kitchens. The tan stuff was just primer paint, makes it really easy to see any Spackle mistakes and it helps the finish paint stick really well. You may have other pipes under your vanity that run to other parts of your home. Since this was new construction, is was easy to keep it simple. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

  • i want to do this when i become older.I am 16 can you tell me what did you do to be so amazing at this

  • Well... I have no formal training. I just researched what needed to be done, and did it. I checked the internet and a few people I know who have some experience.

Good luck! and have fun. Thanks for watching!

  • can you tell me how you made this video, would really aprreciate it?

  • I have a digital still image camera that has a setting to automatically take a picture once every thirty seconds. Once the project is completed, I add all of the single images into the time-line of a video editing program. Once I have edited the length or duration of the over-all video, I add the music track and titles. That's about it. If you have more questions, let me know, I'll try to be helpful.

    Thanks for watching!

  • This for me was a masterpiece of art unfolding before my eyes - and the music was appropriate

I applaud you also for tucking your T shirt in from behind

All in all this video does justice to what Youtube was destined for - thank you

  • Wow! What an amazing comment. Thank you very much. Very much indeed!

  • Comment removed

  • Sorry, I'll work on that.

  • You have got to find out the name of this song... Please FIND OUT. I've been listening to it for the past 1 1/2 and still don't know how to get a copy of it. I've been searching for it. Thanks LIFEs

  • I have also looked all over. Some one posted a comment once with a great deal of information about the band the song, but they came back later and deleted the comment. Oh well. I guess I should have written it down.

  • I'm using my husband's computer right now....but don't tell him....but this is MY kind of man!!! wow!!!...he really excites me. (lol)

  • excellent video, I watched all 5 min of it. :) i am just working on doing my own bathroom too tomorrow, DId you run the waterlines yourself? was it hard? any tips? thanks.

  • Hey, sorry so long to get back with you...

The water lines were easy. I used the PEX system since it was already in place, and just continued existing lines. I did however have to cut a hole in the foundation floor and run to an existing drain.

The PEX stuff is a dream to work with, almost anyone can use it. Home Depot and Lowes both carry it, and will show you how to use it. The crimping tool is expensive, but often available for rent at Home Depot.

    Good luck, and have fun!

  • that was so cool thanks !

  • And thank you for taking the time to watch!

  • great video. I like to do the DIY projects around the house. Not until after do I ever think about videoing (not sure that's a word). I take the before and after shots but your video is great-especially considering it was a six month project. Looks great!

  • I'm really glad you enjoyed it. I always have fun working around the house, even it takes for-ev-er!

    Thanks for watching!

  • drywalling SUCKS ASS..... How the hell do I finish around the shower flange? My drywall board stops at the shower flange. NOT over the flange. How do I finish up to the shower over the flange?

  • Oh crap! You're going to have to replace the drywall with a larger piece. You will have to track back to at least the nearest stud and scab a piece in. The dry wall should butt up almost directly to the shower edge, about 1/8 inch away, and totally overlap the flange. Then you finish with edge with caulk. For best results, I recommend using latex or acrylic based caulking after you paint.

Hope this helped. Good luck! And thanks for watching!

  • This band is awesome.. Your work on your bathroom has inspired me to be more confident with my first bathroom project.. thank you

  • This is a cool band. I haven't heard much from them recently, but I still love their sound. Good luck with your project! And thanks for watching!

  • I built a bathroom from scratch in my basement too. It took me 4 months to complete but it turned out better than i would have ever imagined. It was the first time for a big project like that. Yours turned out great too..thanks for the video

  • Thanks for the great comment!

There is a great rewarding feeling to finishing a great home improvement project isn't there?

  • Crazy video !! nicely done !

  • Cool! Glad you stopped by to check it out!

  • I am remodeling my bathroom... and believe it or not the drywall is driving me nuts.... any ideas on how to make it look "right"? Thank you in advance man. Good job by the way, VERY well done.

  • This project was the first time I had ever done dry wall, so I learned a lot! It was the hardest part for me too.

The most helpful things that I learned were; to keep in mind that there really is no such thing as a perfect corner, and you want to sand as little as possible, and there is a lot of stuff that paint will cover.

Also, wet sanding helps. Warm water and a square cellulose sponge. Use it just like you would sand paper, but slow and soft. Wring out as needed.

    Hope this helps!

  • awesome dude, thanks... I will give that a try... slow and steady ;)

  • omg dude! Im having one of my bathrooms remodeled and im sick of it, its been four days and they are still working on it

  • Ha! This one took me almost six months just doing it in my spare time (which I usually have little of). Luckily, it wasn't a bathroom that we really needed at any point.

Good luck with the remodel, and thanks for watching!

  • Fun vid. How much do you charge by the minute?

  • The time lapse camera took a picture every thirty seconds. The video is playing back at about twelve frames per second. Hope that helps...

    Thanks for watching!

  • Nothing to it...by the way, you missed a spot. I'm starting my bathroom proj tomorrow and your vid has got me psyched up. Thanks.

  • Excellent! Thank you!

  • You're funny. You may need mental help, but I still think you're funny.

  • let me tell you somethin pal: If you wanna dine with the devil you need a damn long spoon! a much longer spoon than you could ever imagine in your little oyster-faced shithead with three double chins.Believe me!

  • Ha! You're crack'in me up over here!

  • Good job. I love it

  • Thank you very much!

  • Nicely done. I need to find one of those plastic trim guides. Loved the music.

  • Honestly, save yourself a headache! Beg, barrow, or steal a real miter saw, it makes a ton of difference! I'm sure guys who use the old fashioned miter boxes often are pretty good with them, but I am still considering redoing some of the trim.

Thanks for watching! Glad you liked the the tunes!

  • GOOD JOB ! Look really good. but what was the color you used > loved it .

  • It is some kind or strange burnt orange color. I'm just so tired of shades of white. I thought the brighter colors would give some life to the small space.

I'm glad you liked the video, thanks for watching!

  • i wish you were in california. i need a shower done...

  • Hey, I am always willing to travel... for a price ;)

    Thanks for watching!

  • Well done. I like this music, what is it?

  • It's a band called "The Stella Link". There is a little more info in the video description. I think their MySpace page is still active.

Thanks for taking the time to check it out!

  • awesome vid! only thing is vid doesnt do it justice. thats a lot of work put into a liitle slot. im building my house right now.( going on six months, im sick of it!lol) i wish i could fast foward everything! again awesome vid!

  • Smaller rooms are often harder. The tight measurements allow much less room for error. Thank you for taking the time to watch!

  • wow! i think i'm in love! that was mesmerizing -- and it was a bathroom that was being built. that seriously takes some skill!

  • I'm very glad you liked it! Thank you so much for the wonderful comment!

  • Awesome! Come and do my house next!

  • Aw thanks! But you'll have to get in line!

    Thanks for watching!

  • love the video im getting ready to do the same this weekend

  • Best of luck! Thanks for watching!

  • According to AskTheBuilder it's very easy and anybody can do it. ROTFL.

  • I don't totally disagree. With proper guidance and planning I do believe that the average person could pull this off. This was my first bathroom. Actually, it was my first toilet, shower, vanity, drywall, pretty much everything...

    Thanks for watching!

  • Oh, BTW, don't talk on the phone while plumbin'.

  • Not much worse than a cell phone in a toilet.

  • Okay, it's technical question time! I dunno why, but I particularly dig the 2:21-2:22 segment (stepladder travels right-left).

What's the total time you spent editing the whole video?

I woulda asked in an e-mail, but I stopped myself and said: "Self! The world would like to know the answer to this."

  • Editing on something like this is actually fairly quick. Import the pictures from the camera to the computer, then import the pictures into the editor program, render, adjust time length to suit music track, add titles and music, and render again. Total time of about an hour and a half...

    Hope that helped.

  • Semper Drywall.

  • Always dusty!

    Thanks for watching!

  • LOL! Female Sideways Faceshot at 1:50. Great video. Thanks for sharing your hard efforts.

  • Yeah, there are a few friends who pop in as the video progresses. This was pretty fun to put together.

    Thanks for checking it out!
