  • I wish I would have done this years ago now severe arthritis has taken a toll trust me the price of tape is well worth it if you can't do it get a swede o ankle brace

  • COOL!! This really helps!! I have the same yellow and white tape!

  • How restrictive is this wrap when you try to kick a soccer ball?

  • Thanks. That really helps me :)

  • This is great... I reference this every few months - it seems someone i know is always twisting an ankle and i have to help them out!

  • he doesn't basketweave the stirrups/horseshoes.....you lose a bit of stability this way

  • Nice video

  • Cramer 1000 tape is amazing. that's what our staff uses.

  • May I know what tapes did you use on this video sir? :)

  • Great video!

  • how long should you keep it wrapped until you have to RE wrap it?

  • seems tight

  • THANK YOU

  • this was a great instructional video, very clear and solid instruction

  • wht kind of tape?

  • Solid vid

  • Best one if seen so far.

  • VERY GOOD VIDEO. BEST ONE I SEEN ONLINE, GRATE JOB.

  • how long can you keep this on

  • The bottom anchor should bisect the styloid process of the 5th metatarsal...

  • how much pressure do you put when you tape it?

  • is figure 8 necessary

  • Very good job of demonstrating this. Best instructional video I have seen on this subject.

  • Thanks so much

  • I love the more silenced camera directions :-PPP

  • Very nice work. I will try it tonight on my basketball game and i will let you know.

  • I have a minor ankle sprain. Would it be OK to wear this right after if I was to go play soccer? Would it help support my ankle?

  • @awesomenator6 i have the same question. did this work for soccer?

  • @dcmholliday I tried it. It seemed to help, but it bugged me a bit and it's hard to put your socks on and take them off.

  • is it okay to tape it if you dont got any injury just for protection? I play football for college team and could you please give me information regarding all those tape.name of all those tapes so i can buy it. cheers

  • @jefcul11 yep, that and the fact that he used so many layers of prewrap, that he could cause blisters, and the first horse shoe should curve around the heel enough to keep from having to wrinkle over like his job at 1:24. I also personally prefer to do continuous heel locks and continuous figure eights, to save time. When you have to tape 15+ ankles for basketball players in less than 30 minutes for pre-game, it helps to use continuous techniques.

  • Thanks for the video will this work for soccer?

  • will doing something like this make wearing cleated shoes hard becuase i play soccer and i hvae sprined my ankle many times now and no braces seem to work would this give me some more support and fit in cleats comfortable?

  • what is the name of the qhite tape your using and how wide is it??

  • Instead of doing all this, couldn't you wear some kind of boot if you're going cross country. I have thought about running in tactical assault boots to run in, but don't want to do that if I could still go over on my ankle. I have been using a strong ankle wrap made of blue material that I bought from a shop that you wrap in a figure of 8 then attach and I sprained it again as if there was nothing there.

  • great video. 100% professional tape job. A little too fast in the demo to follow all the way through specially in the middle. Would be perfect if you slowed it down. One question, does one need to cut it out after each training/ game session or can it last through a couple of showers?

  • @Allaboutthemojo you're gonna want to take it off as soon as you're done with whatever you're doing. If you leave the tape on too long your ankle may start to weaken.

  • can you name all the tape that you used ?

    following the steps.

  • what's the white tape called? i got mueller zinc oxide, are they the same?

  • Best video I've seen yet.

  • @ohiostbuckboy I injured my ankle playing basketball yesterday and I'm planning in buying this tape. It's very mobile I've seen many players including Kobe Bryant having their ankles taped.

  • Does your ankle still have mobility for like basketball cause that seems like you wont be able to move your foot

  • Ankle needs to be kept in 90 degrees throughout the taping. This was not done. Since this is for an inversion ankle sprain it does matter where you start your medial heel lock. It should be from behind the leg. Lateral heel lock should start from instep going under the foot. Figure eight should be started through the instep giving lateral support to ankle. Following this video you could make incorrect choices and give the majority of support to the medial side instead of the lateral.

  • very clear demonstration thank you

  • Is this honestly what they do? this seems like really really tight tape and it seems like he will have absolutely no movement at all.

would this be a good taping for basketball?

  • that is a flat out shitty tape job.....I'd check out other vids people

  • @dhide14 harsh

  • this guy flunked outta med school

  • that is ALOT of tape

  • really cool. I might have to watch this one a few times with all that info. Checkout unicyclehoopster on youtube. It's funny

  • would taping be better than using any ankle brace?

  • That was excellent. Without having seen ankle taping before I had been taping my foot up for the last few days in a similar fashion but made some errors which you just fixed. I have a very intensive course next week and for the last 2 weeks my ankle has hurt on the inside, just below the ankle. Any idea what this is? And is this the right taping for it?

  • thanks guys that was great i need practice, but its good so far, not as clean as yours but it worked thanks, great for taekwondo training

  • its not yellow tape it pre wrap it so the tape isnt pulling your skin and stuff

  • Is it okay to be physical with this on? I'm in cross country and if I have all that tape on my ankle is it okay to run 6mi?

  • @AlexxisPlata Yes, taping will provide external support, especially if you run on trails and there are ruts/loose gravel that increase the risk of injury. Make sure you get taped by a professional because you don't want any discomfort from cut off circulation or awkward limited range of motion.

  • @AlexxisPlata yes you can and I recommend it on trails, especially trails with ruts and rocks and branches if you are susceptible to inversion ankle sprains, especially in the fall, when leaves have fallen and cover those obstacles. Just had my first athlete sprain his ankle on the trails. Most definitely a good option!!

  • @AlexxisPlata I also do cross country and i sprained my ankle 3 times running the same trail and thanks to your questions no more sprains! Thank you

  • awww thank you thank you thank you! i have a quiz tomorrow ans we barely learned this today! O_O u did it exactly like my teacher! thank you so mucho again!

  • This is gonna save me so much money. Thank you!

  • the ankle should be dorsiflexed to a neutral position or about 90 degrees, forming a right angle to the shin.

  • the whole time i keep my foot flexed right?

but thanks so much. i think i got the just of wrapping my ankle.

  • @meggysoccer09 Yes dorsiflexed to a position that forms a right angle with the shin.

  • how do you remove it after?

  • @tend0r you have to cut it off i get my ankle taped a lot

  • @tend0r scissor!

  • @tend0r Tape scissors or Cramer Shark cutters or Mueller M cutter

  • life savor :D

  • could you tell me the name of the yellow tape/

  • @edgarosofernandez Cramer Pre-wrap

  • most helpful video ive seen yet .thanks

  • NICE NICE !!

  • PERFECT!!!! nice vid just learned how to do this today and you covered all the above

  • grade A

  • hey thanks for the vid,

but i have a question if anyone could answer?

like i sprained my ankle, but not major or anything.

My coach told me to just do the figure 8's.

    and just some X's.

    do you think thats enough?

&like i have sprained it 3 times, only one of them i had to lay off it for a week, but like yeah

oh and i play basketball , but mainly baseball which is year round for me.

or well softball cause imma girl (:

  • too much tape wasted, lol

  • @generatorium

your probably the terd who put a thumbs down for this video

  • @dirkofyork NO

  • This guy does a great job. Very helpful. However, I like to use the stirrup/horseshoe basket weave. Provides a bit more stability.

  • this is exaclty what I needed...

    Thank you!!!

    and thank god for utube

  • Oh my god, this is SO great. Thanks for uploading it!

  • the prewrap that he puts on (the yellow tape) protects the skin from irritation and the hair from being pulled because it only sticks to itself :]

  • aren't you supposed to do a basket weave technique with the stirrups and horseshoes? like do one stirrup and then 1 horseshoe and so on?

  • @IrishElite7 You can do it either way. It just really depends on what it's needed for.

  • does it cut of the circulation

  • can i play basket ball with this kind of tape???

  • It is a very good tape for basketball. I use this to tape technique for my high school players.

  • This is great. Very informative.

  • can i play football with this tape?

  • what sort of tape is the man using...zinc oxide???

  • You can get that colored tape for cheap at any store that sells horse supplies.

  • Much appreciated mate

  • Great video, other videos that I had seen were either too fast or without many explanations.

  • Loud clear voice, great pace, dark tape really helps understand instruction. The best video I have seen so far on ankle taping. Thank you very much!

  • You cover it all (no pun intended). Thanks for posting this - very helpful for students!

  • How long should this taping be kept on? I presume it is used for an ankle spraign isnt it?
