  • Used to hear this as a kid.I always wondered who sang this song, it reminded me of a girl I liked back then. The things women sing about sure have changed, from strong, proud, and secure Black men, to weak, ignorant, and death-struck Black boys. Wow.

  • @artistsnflight Yes. This is the kinda music that makes you wanna fall in love and stay in love and just be a woman. You have to dance with someone on this song: the Hop, the 2-Step, Hand-Dancin', whatever, brothers had to represent on the dance floor too (with style) no half-steppin. Wow. I love it. • And she wrote this song as well!.

  • =)

  • Thank U.

  • This song is so soulful and classy. This is back in the day when there was a law against singing off tune. Today I think it has become cool to sing as much out of tune and off key as possible.

  • Bettye had such a distinctively fresh and bright voice!

  • i see i was a child at this time but what i meant was does anyone "now" have this parties oh yes my sister were teens and they dress so nice then and wow i wanted it to be the same when i grow older but the dress changed as it does with each era! now i listen to this thanks to so many wonderful "people whom put these up for us now!!!!!!!!!

  • WHOA ! i think you are mis interperting my louisiana LINGO, foul foul. I was just letting her know how My era was , and no. I did not have rough times i was a kid . I was just remanissant thats all ! KEEP IT FUN!!

  • one word; GREAT

  • Make me yours, and yours only.

  • thanks baby1

  • Has anyone had a party ever that was based on the 60's or 70's muisc and then dress the way they did?

  • @jane78ist what are you talking about, I was a young man going to that type of party , when that clothes was the style and this was the music we dance to. We didn't have to play dress up we were dressed up!! BIG TIME !! It was a fun time , this music got your parents and granparents thru rough times . these songs were more than just lyrycs it was the gospel for most people in bad relationship or struglling period . Just like you kids say" theres an APP for that".There was a song for that!

  • @pimpiblock Easy man. She was just asking if someone attended a 60's 70's themed party, including themed clothing. That's all.

Sure we "play dress up" and you did "the real thing", but there's no other way for this generation, is there? I mean, it's impossible for us to actually go back to the 60's, go to a party with gospel and undergo the same rough times you had? Right? Be happy this youth appreciates and honours that history. She could have called it "shitty old-ass music" as well, right?

  • Sooooooooooooooooo gooooood, Class of 1967, Lincoln High," Philly Town" Outta site!!

  • MUSIC NEVER GETS OLD!!!

  • If you grew up to these songs, you are all dust in the ground

  • @Jolazabal415 and one day your gonna be dust in the ground.and dont forget that

  • This is real soul music I love this song thank you for posting this song!!

My daddy's mom, was real religious and didn't listen to much secular music, but she listened to this! LOL! I love this song to this day! Remnds me of Nana and memories of Charleston, SC.

  • LOVING THIS OLD SCHOOL JAM

  • tremendous voice, beautiful lyrics...god bless the people that put a smile on our hearts !!

  • back in the day this was one hott hit

  • This song definitely belongs to Bettye Swann. The covers of this song,by all the black artists here, delivering that pure soul feeling as only they can, are just excellent. Having said that, if you would like to hear a version by a white artist, may I suggest the cover by THE R&B CADETS featuring Ms. Robyn Pluer on vocals. It is a great sound.
