  • first game I had on the GBA... Good memories.

  • WATH DA HELL IS GOIN ON HERE!? WHERE IS THE EPIC HANGAR MUSIC! WAAA!

  • Considering the kind of graphics programming you need to make a game like this on the GBA, I'm thoroughly fucking impressed.

  • Because Doom was designed as a PC game which is why console ports fail (well except for XBox LIve).

  • This is the worst version of Doom yet.

  • @zonilo1 Not sure if trolling...

  • It's not the Duke Nukem Advanced engine, Duke Nukem advanced uses a doom engine port, why doesn't anyone know this?

  • GBA Doom uses the Jaguar code and engine. GBA Doom 2 uses the Duke Nukem Advance engine.

  • stay your ass away from Doom 1 on this version

  • @cameron20101000 why its the only way to play doom on the go besides its pretty much the same as the jaguar doom except with lower resolution and different music

even though its not the best port ever but if you dont want to stop playing doom then this is for you

  • @killkenny5000 but some levels got different maps

like Tower of Babel and Dis

Doom 2 on GBA and X360 turned awesome and perfect, because it compares the PC version with the archviles.

It's just Doom 1 on GBA is just car-bitch, music sounds like 8-bit,some levels got a different map, i mean it's a okay port, just a few problems or shitty things.

  • @cameron20101000 thats because the maps are the same as the JAGUAR DOOM

besides DOOM 2 on GBA is not rly perfect

    1.it has a few bugs

2.they cut off some of the levels

    3.still censored :L

all the LEVELS on doom GBA are exactly the same as the JAGUAR DOOM

    the only difference is

    lower resolution

    censorship

    and different music

  • @killkenny5000 what bugs? i never seen any bugs

I didn't know GBA Doom 1 is like the Jaguar version

  • @cameron20101000 the BUGS on DOOM 2 GBA is

1.the numbers for your armor will glitch

    2.mancubus shoots inaccurately

3.the icon of sin only speaks when he feels like it

ALL 90s ports (except snes) used the levels from the jaguar. the PSX remade the jaguar levels and used the ultimate doom which it include thy flesh consume

the atari jaguar port was the 1st doom port that uses the console levels and its actually done by ID SOFTWARE

  • @killkenny5000 Icon of sin speaks when you play it on DS

and haha funny mancubus shoots inaccuracy!

  • @cameron20101000 in the PC-xbox-xbox 360-saturn-PSX the mancubus always shoot straight at you

but in the GBA version he even shoots straight, left, right or left, left, right or left, right, left like he's telling you how to unlock a cheat code

    but NO

  • @killkenny5000 True dude.

  • @killkenny5000 xbox 360 version of doom had thy flesh consume episode too, so not only the PSX version and ultimate doom had that episode

  • @theMaikol1995 the xbox 360 version is the same as the PC version except slightly smoother graphics and slower music

    do not keep this up

  • @cameron20101000 the jaguar port is a pretty damn good port too ya know but the only flaws is when they redid the levels and use less textures and architecture and take out the bosses (which it includes the cyberdemon and spidermastermind)

  • @killkenny5000 Yeah, Cyberdemon and Spider Mastermind were not included in the GBA Doom 1

  • despites the green blood, missing bosses, reduced size levels & secrets, horrible quality music etc,,, wich also had been ordered in the wrong levels.

it,s still better then the snes version becouse it has all the fun, unlike the snes version,at the other hand i just wish they had ported and UPGRADED the snes version to the gba,it would,ve been so obviouse that way, then porting it from the jaguar since the jaguar was NOT a nintendo console.

the snes has most levels, secrets etc in complete form!!!

  • @johneymute yeah

    everyone bledds green instead red

of course cacodemon always bleed blue

  • This port was fucking atrocious. Mixed up music and only like 15 levels... It was obvious it was such a lazy port. Doom 2 was an awesome port. Had all the levels and music

  • It has all 24 levels from the Jaguar version. The version with the least is 32x Doom with 17 levels. I don't know why the music was on the wrong levels though. Basically they took Jaguar Doom, shrunk it down to 160x120 resolution, and added music.

Doom 2 was damn sweet. It used the Duke Nukem Advance engine instead of the Doom engine.

  • @elbryan42 besides

Doom 1 on this crap was done by David A Palmer Productions

Doom 2 and Duke Nukem Advance was done by Torus Games

  • @elbryan42 Doom 2 uses Duke Nukem Advance engine because they was deveopled by Torus Games right?

ID Software only produce Doom 1 and 2 on GBA, 3D realms only produced Duke Nukem Advance

  • I missed Doom.

  • how to you switch guns??

    i just bought today

  • Hold open and press L or R.

  • @elbryan42

    thanks man i subed=)

  • @elbryan42

    thanks man i subed=)

  • i'm not feel good with green blood

  • @MadokaCatty me neither

especially the archviles, hell knights, hell barons, and mancubus

i really displeased what ID or Nintendo did Doom on GBA

  • @cameron20101000 ID nor NINTENDO didnt do anything to DOOM on GBA

you just gottah love how developers screw up :L

  • I don't see how this is impressive. The GBA was a 32 bit handheld, just with 16 bit graphics. It couldn't have been THAT hard to port...

  • @SonicTehAwesomeFace because its not 3D capable like the saturn and no this not 16-bit graphics the only 16-bit doom was the snes port which is even more impressive

  • @killkenny5000 Not 3D capable? There was a demo of Resident Evil 2 for the GBA, which was never released, but it did show the true capabilities of the GBA. And yes, that utilized 3D polygons. Now THAT was impressive. There was also a not-as-impressive, but still good version of Super Monkey Ball. Again, this uses 3D polygons. Besides, Doom is technically a 2D game with the illusion of 3D by drawing lines on the screen in different sizes and positions.

  • @SonicTehAwesomeFace actually doom has 3D background with 2d characters and objects that either 1 sided or 8-sprites

and the resident evil 2 is actually a legend of zelda or pokemon map style so its not rly the actual game but you still get to kill zombies

if you look at medal of honor underground for GBA they tried to make it look like the PSX version but it turned out worst than wolfenstein 3D on snes and DOOM on 3DO

  • @SonicTehAwesomeFace for so far DOOM 2 and DUKE NUKEM advance are best FPS games on GBA

  • this version is a lot better than any of the old non-pc versions before psx.

  • Do you have to use the D-pad to turn and move back and forth?

  • Z button : options

  • This is a surprisingly good port of the original DOOM. I play it near-religiously alongside the GBA version of DOOM II, which is even better. Yeah, this one has some minor framerate issues, but it's still worth playing.

  • It amazes me how many people forget that the gba was a 32-bit system

  • @MrModeratelyUpset i know its weird :l

  • They should redo this for the 3DS.

  • @matttrd7 regular DS

    3DS just blinds you -_-

im glad playstation is making that new portable hand held playstation and not adding 3D in it (playstation vita)

im guessing adding 3D is most gaming systems is still too young :l

  • @killkenny5000 Because the 3DS definitely doesn't have a convenient slider on the side that you could, I don't know, turn the 3D off or anything. How about doing research?

  • @MetroidJunkie2007 you can turn the 3D off on the 3DS and it has a little stick like the stick on the PSP + better graphics than original

but the new playstation vita that will be coming out til this xmas

    2 dualshock analog sticks

    wi-fi 3G GPS

    camera

    mic

    PS3 graphics

touch screen on front and touch pad on back

its rly amazing and it just puts the 3DS and i-pod touch to shame

  • @killkenny5000 The 3DS doesn't need dual analog because the touchscreen can be used for aiming purposes, it has a camera and a mic, calling them Ps3 visuals is an exaggeration if Resistance and Uncharted are any indication, and the 3DS has a touchscreen too, just not one on the back which I imagine would be awkward. I think you're understanding the 3DS as well, I would consider Resistance Vita about on par, visually, to Resident Evil Revelations.

  • @MetroidJunkie2007 yeah and so far theirs going to be another COD game that is comming out on vita but i dont rly give a crap about COD anymore

now im mainly into doom and team fortress

  • @killkenny5000 To be fair, that game is coming on pretty much EVERY system, including the DS and Wii. Look it up.

  • @MetroidJunkie2007 yeah i know

call of duty always go one every system

the DS port is completely different since it doesnt use these advance graphics

the WII version is like your in a real battle since you'll be using the zapper or others

PSV i guess the touch pad will be use as R2 and L2

PS3 and 360 will be classic COD style

PC well since you'll be using the keyboard + hackers will be their as well

  • @killkenny5000 I'm still annoyed that Activision made that decision. They could've put it on the 3DS and actually have something good with the graphics, but no. God forbid they have something presentable, let's slap it on the system that's already obsolete.

  • @MetroidJunkie2007 thx now i know why doom 3 wasnt on PS2 :( so i got mah self an xbox 360 just to play doom 3 collectors edition

i also have PS3 and WII

PS3 is best so far :)

  • @killkenny5000 ..... I meant Activision is putting Modern Warfare 3 on DS but not 3DS! You don't see why that's stupid? Even you have to acknowledge the 3DS is worlds beyond the DS in graphical power, as well as many other areas.

  • @MetroidJunkie2007 i dont rly get that too cuz the 3DS has better graphics than the original DS

maybe because the 3DS is not as popular as teh ordinary ds :l idk

  • @killkenny5000 yes but its 300$ which is way too much

  • @melgibsonsballs theirs 2 different versions

1 is 250$ and the other is 300$

    the 300$ one has AT&T

while the other one use plain internet

  • Let me say one thing. The green blood makes the demons look more realistic. Demons don't have red blood. Remember that.

  • 0:09 lol Marine has pink blood

  • I remember playing this Game on my Uncle's Computer, Now I'm on a Quest to find the Game Boy Advance Version of Doom.

  • Nintendo was a bitch when it came to censoring this game

  • Nintendo didn't censor anything. It was the makers of this game. Nintendo hasn't forced anyone to censor anything since before Mortal Kombat II was released for the SNES. I can't stand that people still think it's Nintendo's fault.

Green blood means that the game can be sold to a younger audience. A younger audience which takes up a large part of the GBA's user base. Thus more copies sold. Duke Nukem Advance and Wolfenstein 3D for GBA has red blood, completely uncensored.

  • @elbryan42 nintendo censuraba:mk2 sin sangre en snes,a quien se le ocurre

  • @elbryan42

True... Even though what's funny is that Wolf is rated M and DNA is rated T... Possibly because the blood is a more muted orangy red? Of corse then DUke swears a lot, so maybe both really derserved an M...

  • @elbryan42 I think there may be a few M rated areas Nintendo still won't touch, though. Case in point, they might object to something like Duke Nukem Forever. For the most part, though, yeah, they don't really give a shit. They didn't object to Manhunt 2 going on Wii, anyway.

  • mm

  • I love this version! The only thing I didn't like about it was the green blood and missing levels and enemies. Other than that, it's still awesome!

  • Why do people say this sucks compared to other versions? It's on the bloody Gameboy! I bought it purely because Doom is excellent and it's on the Gameboy!

  • I remember buying this and being amazed that I had Doom in a portable console. And I wasted untold hours playing this in multiplayer with friends back in high school :)

  • can you play this on ds?

  • @viliussmproductions Yes, not the dsi though.

  • @Theuaredead i bought doom 2 for it and i love it

  • How the heck did they manage to do real time 3d on a GBA?

  • @3243F6A8885 How the heck did they manage to do real time 3d on a SNES?

  • Why the hell is the blood green?

  • @Yellowmymello becuz its Nintendo shit

  • Greenblood lol

  • In all honesty, I always thought this was a really good port, one of the best of Doom.

Not that it has much to go against besides the PlayStation port.

  • Better sounds and graphics than the 32X

  • I hear E1M2's music in the Hangar. ._.

  • wow better than snes but the music kicks ass

  • at least it has music not like the jaguar

  • INCRedible for a freaking gameboy adv i gotta look for this i love doom its even superior to the 32x or snes ports looks like except music music ALL WRONG

  • 0:11 why is the blood purple?

  • BTW. There ARE 32 levels in this port. 24 Single-player levels, and 8 awesome multiplayer levels.

  • Shit, I have to buy this game for my old GBA.

  • gba doom is great but i got sick from the music even worse they reversed the music from each level, but those bleeping tunes atleast gives that retro spheer.

  • doom snes had bad graphics but good music and they have all secret missions and boss levels 32x-jaguar-3do-gba dosnt but when doom 2 came out 4 gba they have the cyberdemon and spider mastermind which it was retarded way they just did when they had doom 1 -_- but gba dose have a mission on doom 1 that u all never herd of its suppose to be tower of babel but completely different.

  • Green blood?!

    GOD DAMN YOU, NINTENDO!

  • wow grafx on water green water is better than snes

  • That second level music brings back memories. It's actually the third level music on the pc but still.

  • How do you aim?

  • Huh? You just point and shoot.

  • @elbryan42 Never played this game before. That's why I asked.

  • Comment removed

  • @elbryan42 You see, he is a pussy that only plays COD and Halo. He doesn't know what it is like to play a REAL First Person shooter.

  • @timberwolf84 Mouse, dude.

  • Apparently, GBA Doom 2 had a different development team.

That and even though there's not enough space on the cart for Doom 1 I'm a bit sad at the lack of cyberdemon and Thy Flesh Consumed. In fact...did any of the ports have Thy Flesh Consumed?

  • The GBA port was based off of the Jaguar port, which came out before Ultimate Doom. The PSX, Saturn and XBox360 ports all have Thy Flesh Consumed.

  • Hmm. I didn't mind that chapter much. I guess I can see why it got excluded from most other ports, due to space and that it probably wasn't out before the PSX and Saturn came out.

Nice of them to giveDOOM a try on the GBA. Do you think they'd make some form fo port for the Wii? I mean I know there's those homebrew ones.

  • @elbryan42 the jag port didnt have music... nice that this one has snes style music

  • @MightyKombat doom 2 gba has music and all the levels are same as pc

  • that first window off to your right and the whole right side wall of the second room on the first level can be made to open up and disappear.......

  • green blood?

  • doom II gba was better

  • que pesar que no se pueden cambiar armas

  • I remember renting this back before I had my itouch. I always played it, and remember bringing a flashlight so I could see the screen (I had the original GBA model, not the SP). It still bothers me how off the music is. Listen to this version's "At Doom's Gate" and you'll see what I mean. It sounds like someone listened to it, stopped for two days, and tried to remember what it sounded like.

  • That's because this isn't the right music. This port has the music mismatched with the levels. The first level (E1M1) plays the second level's (E1M2) music, second level plays the third level's music etc.

  • i just got this game for the gba. how do u change weapons?

  • Hold open and press L or R. If you go to options it'll tell you.

  • I could never get into this version of the game with its green blood and magically disappearing bodies. Half of my love about DOOM was the gore. Anyways, considering this is for theGBA, its very impressive.

  • GBA's limitations .DOS DooM required at least 4 MByte of RAM. Now check the GBA's RAM ;)

  • @NoMac90 dont compare apples with tomatos you fool

  • That's why I said this. You should stop to overreact and/or think first.. >_>

  • I've emulated doom for the SNES and Doom 2 for the GBA and in all honesty I believe Doom in PC blows the console and handheld ports by a landslide

  • Best non-PC port of Doom is the Xbox 360... but fuck me, it is NOT an original port and is therefore null and void...

  • Toxin Refinery song in E1M2?

  • In the GBA version the music is "shifted ahead" by one track: E1M1 has E1M2 music, E1M2 has E1M3 music, etc., up until E3M3.

You end up having to reach E1M9 if you want to hear At Doom's Gate =/ although it DOES provide an extra incentive to reach the secret level ^^

  • @GayBitchandFaggot This port is based on The Jaguar Port. THe Jaguar Ports music was on the Stats screen after every level, so I guess they implemented that just ingame :/

  • what do you think of the doom 2 port for gba

  • I think it's one of the most outstanding FPS ports ever. Besides a few level changes, it's pretty darn accurate. Though it's not perfect, as it could control smoother like the first GBA Doom and there are some minor glitches and programming oddities. But definitely a must buy for any FPS fan with a GBA. :)

  • what is a port? and a psx? whats that

  • A Port is a game that can be played on another system/console/whatever

    PSX is a Playstation emulator

  • Um, PSX isn't an emulator. ePSXe is an emulator that plays PSX games. PSX is the original acronym for Playstation before the smaller PSOne came out, and people started calling it PS1.

I NEVER use emulators for ANY of my videos. They're all on the real game systems.

  • I use to think the GBA was so impressive in 3d because it was 16 bit but turns out the GBA is actually 32 bit.Thats why this does not look like SNES graphics.I do wish they made a 16 bit handheld console though.

  • @AndrewEpicWins Yeah, and they should call it SNES On The Can!

  • GBA version is just a piece of shit.

Tower of Babel features no Cyberdemon

And Dis turned into Fortress of Mystery.

    That's FUCKING CRAP!!!!

  • It's Still Impressive For GBA.

  • The reason for no Cyberdemon, Dis being Fortress of Mystery, and other changes is because this is simply the Jaguar version (the first port of Doom) running at 160x120 resolution (with disappearing bodies and added music). It's the source material, not the GBA.

  • Yea You're right, well at least Doom 2 on GBA was More Accurate than Doom 1 on GBA.

  • Yeah, Doom 2 was made from scratch using the Duke Nukem Advance engine. That's why it turned out so awesome. I'd take a game made from scratch specially for a system than a lazy port or an emulated game.

  • I do totally agree, especially when it is screwing up key levels and characters.

  • @MonsieurRien I getting so fucking sick of people hating the port just because 2 enemies are missing, some levels missing\changed, or green blood. It's still gory, most ports were missing some levels, and this was ported from the Jaguar version, which had no bosses. The GBA port is still a great port(kickass 8-bit music remixes, great graphics when seen on the GBA screen, and you can play it anywhere)!

  • Rob, on the first level of Inferno (Hell Keep, i think that's what's it called). Is it possible to beat it with a pistol start?! I mean I can't find any weapons and they barley give you any ammo and also I played this level on the easiest difficulty and still have a hard time due to lack of shotgun, armor, and ammo. Also they really make you fight a lot of tough enemies with ur pistol...

  • Hey Elbryan42, how's the controls for this game? I plan to get a GBA with this, Doom 2, and Kingdom Hearts to play this while I'm on my breaks at work.

  • I think the controls are downright excellent. :)

  • Awesome! I'm ordering em right now :).

  • its on the game cube he put it in the game cube see the z for options

  • What is actually surprising is that the Game Boy Advance can handle one of the best first person shooters, and have Death Match up to 4 players!

  • doom on GBA was shit but the doom 2 version was amazing it had every level, teh proper doom 2 end boss and all the other monsters. Bloody awsome game (for a handheld)

  • These musics all like mixed up now

  • Since they used the jaguar code on this doom did they do the same in doom 2 GBA?

  • Nope. The port of Doom 2 was done by a different studio, Torus Games. They used the same engine they made for Duke Nukem Advance.

  • Actually, I think it's the 32X version it's based on. It's a spitting image with the resolution and x2 hud weapon sprites.

  • IMO, this fits with that the GBA has lightly similar 3d capabilities to the 32x with the tape of that 32x demo and the demos of the GBA's 3d abilities.

32x is probably lightly better, but we still see what could of been on 32x, a pre-Saturn.

  • @silenceofthehills actually, the 32x's monsters always faced forward, so they couldn't fight each other. However, in the GBA version, the monsters faced all 8 directions and fought each other, so the GBA is slightly more powerful than the 32x(DOOM wise).

  • @doomster706

Specs I think are around the same though. The sprites interchanging from angle to angle may not mean much but unfinished programming, regardless of which is more powerful, though cart and VRAM space may explain it. Then again, I think 32X had an equal or greater VRAM. Don't know.

To think about it, its something seen on megadrive/genesis/SNES games that have those rare moments of psuedo 3d (e.g. BG "spins" around by control), yet Doom for SNES and 32x doesn't use it.

  • you own elbran42 u are the best doom player ive seen in my life best duke nukem player best serious sam player best wolfenstien player like omg! i love alllll your vids u are wayyyy to underated u should be a STAR***** of youtube!!

  • i'm surprised that the GBA can play this game lag free! or well the gamecube might be helping it...

  • Nope, the Gamecube has nothing to do with it. The Gameboy Player doesn't alter the games in any way.

The reason why the GBA plays it so well is because it's the Jaguar code (so basically the Jaguar game) running at 160x120 resolution. Lower res=smoother.

  • yea...when i looked for it for the gba..i found doom 1. there was only one copy of it all over town and i was able to get it. i beat it andi still have it...since im a major fan of doom like i said in the other one i posted. good vid btw :D

  • this game misses every nice feature from the snes version, will the snes version misses all the fun from the gba version.

  • why is the music level 3?

  • because music is changed in the levels of gba version

  • I don't like the censoring, but at least it's not as bad as Wolfenstein 3D on Super Nintendo.

  • OH!!!

you're playing on the GBA Gamecube doo hicky

  • Yup. :)

  • when you set brightness to 1 you get somehow nicer graphics....works on DS,SP and GC only though, you will see dog shit on ordinary GBA

  • I liked the GBA version of it since it became a portable version of Doom. But I wasn't comfortable with the music in the wrong order (Doom II sorted that out) and I felt that it was a tad short especially with the last level being a secret level in the original Doom.

Despite all those problems it was still awesome that they released it on GBA.

  • The 32x port isn't bad.

It isn't any worse than the SNES port.

  • Actually it is, strangely enough. The 32X version had missing levels and horrible music. The only part it one-upped the snes version was in the graphics.

  • Huh u playin' it on nightmare! Thats basically ultra-violence for Gba doom!

  • Hey can i barrow this game for a little bit....

    Do u have doom2 4 gba. if u do can i barrow that 2?

  • Um, no. I don't loan games out.

  • It plays great, in my opinion. One of the best playing console version of Doom as well as the PSX and XBox360 versions. :)
