@Chazyorkshire Looks to be sand. If you've ridden in it, you know how it sucks your bike up. He landed a bit crooked, and it just ripped the front end right out from under him. Flat landing a huge jump in sand is pretty tricky since he overjumped that double.

You're horse only tramples you if you don't know how to properly train it. Motocross racers invented something mechanical so they wouldn't have to abuse animals just so old white fat guys could gamble their money on a race. I don't have much respect for people who ride horses, if any.

Just like those people whose parachutes don't open, but survive because they get knocked out, if you are tense when you crash you can get hurt badly. This kid may have been very relaxed/limp.
