  • eminem bit part of this song on his Marshall Mathers LP. "6 minutes Doug E Fresh you're on" - "6 minutes Slim Shady you're on"

So many rappers nowadays use lines that the old school artists came up with

  • @outcastyouth its called sampling and many old school rappers did it to with jazz singles.

  • i just came!!!! limp!!!

  • pure classic!

  • Used to kick this is my JVC Box back in the day.

  • corrections, the WHOOP

  • Just picture the dance off this song. sit back and rock twice to left and twice to the right and what dance did you just do? yes u r right the WARP. LOL

  • i luv u fressssssssssssssh ya

  • What other songs were on this album besides la di da di? Or am I just imagining things? It seems I used to have an old tape somebody made and I though there were more than just those two songs on it. Thanks for any help.

  • The Show was on the Oh My God! album. Ladi d Dadi wasn't (it was the B-side to The Show). Track Listing for Oh My God (1986): "Nuthin'" "The Show" (Oh, My God! Remix) "Leave It Up to the Cut Professor" "Lovin' Ev'ry Minute of It" (Cyclone Ride) "She Was the Type of Girl" "Abortion" "Chill Will Cuttin' it Up" "Play This Only at Night" "All the Way to Heaven" Maybe your friend made a mix tape for you.
  • Or, if 'Ladi Dadi' was the B-Side to the Single 'The Show', it was possibly just a single CDS you had a copy of

  • CLASSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Tight like a vice! Old school hip hop is strak basis!!!!!!

  • i love this song

  • what happened to line about michelle

  • Paul MacCartney sued over copyright as the line "Michelle, ma belle, sont les mots qui vont tres bien ensemble" was taken from Michelle by the Beatles. He won and the song was only ever used in an edited version after that.

  • 6th Grade this was the shit. Still is.

  • OH MY GOD!!!!!

    this song is Fly...

  • Doug E Fresh and Slick Rick were one of the first Hip Hop acts I saw on UK TV never forget it. Have to give mad props to the old skool rappers...if they were no old skool there would be no gangsta rap garbage today ! Word !

  • FRESH!

  • 'Word, Rick?'

    'Word.'

This is my childhood, right here.

  • It is a masterpiece of beat, the rap, the finger popin', the synth, the beat boxin, the turntables. It's the Willy Wonka bar of hip hop.

I had the opportunity to see what happens when this song is played at a wedding for a mid 20s crowd - it was hysterical to watch a bunch of white bread bustin loose to this.

People were laughing dancing and tryin to recall the lines : good times.

  • yea-yuh

  • Thank you much for posting.

  • no matter how old this song is you still boby pop. bring back old school hip hop

  • Still fresh after all these years.

  • OFF THE HOOK SONG

  • what happened to chill will and barry bee.

Did Chill Will die? I remember back in the day, I heard something about him being killed in a concert, and that is supposedly how " Play this only at Night" was born. It was related to that night. It was rumored, but never really knew if this was true or not.

  • no he's okay and very much so alive

  • Just 1 of my favorites

  • this is tight

  • fukin 85 mutha fukas

  • slick rick and doug e. fresh are the best!

  • NNNNNIIIICCCEEEE

  • michelle was from the song of the same name by the beatles who take a very strick view on copyright infringment.

the only time i heard that version was on the tim westwood rap show on radio one back in the day.

its a shame cos its a great version, enough to forgive slick rick for being born in wimbledon lol. who said english people cant rap lol

  • Are you sure it was Tim Westwood? Way back then the radio one rap show was hosted by Jeff Young on Friday nights from 7 til 9. Still have a lot of those shows on C90 cassettes lol

  • The get fresh crew will always be in effect for me!

  • damn, doug e fresh is amazing!

  • think i still got the 10 inch in da basement

  • wich year is this from???

  • I think it was in '84

  • if i remember rightly 1986

  • No, I think it was '85.

  • Correct its 1985.

  • 84 or 85

  • TOOOOOO FRESH !!!

  • oh oh ohh my god :)

  • best rap song ever, hands down. or rappin duke dahadaha. end of story.

  • I was 8 years old in 1985 when this came out. Power 99 FM used to wear this shit out. I also remember the answer song, "The Showstopper" by Salt n Pepa. I used to hear that song on my way home from school. I didn't know that it was Salt n Pepa until I was 11.

  • yo im from philly too holmes

  • PHILLY RULES!!!!

  • yo i was born in 86 after this shit was out and today it is still one of the best out. because as we all know the old school paved the way

  • Where is is the "Michelle my belle" line.

  • Couldn't clear the sample with the Beatles.

  • 1984 in da house!!!!!!

  • This song made me love hip hop.

  • inspector gadget even used this song

  • YEAHHHHHH!!!! '84 IN DA HOUSE!

  • 6 minutes, 6 minutes, 6 minutes Doug E. Fresh your on...aaa on....OMG Da Bomb...was in the 9th grade.

  • Absolutely love this song. Takes me way back when we used to do brake dancing in our bedrooms on the lyno (polished of course) Wicked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i looooooooove this song and have done for the past 20yrs i was cool and hip once and hearing this has brought back some memories and bad dance moves lol

  • Umm, this song is from Slick Rick's 1999 record. Your historical inaccuracy aside, this song is non-stop awesome.

  • Oops, I see that it was released in 1985 as a single.Overall assessment: unchanged.

  • This song maybe indead off Slick Rick's 1999 record, BUT WE all know it's from BACK IN THE DAY sayyy 1984.. So BOOOOO to you for not knowing your old school.. The next thing you'll say is Blake Lewis made this song.Don't insult us true old school people.

  • Awesome!

Brings back so many cool memories :D

  • The Best Song Ever
